1 week 18 hours ago From the wiki

Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one retention point for staying in school and one eligibility point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by the points possible and then multiplied by one thousand to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate score. Example: A Division I Football Bowl Subdivision team awards the full complement of 85 grants-in-aid. If 80 student-athletes remain in school and academically eligible, three remain in school but are academically ineligible and two drop out academically ineligible, the team earns 163 of 170 possible points for that term. Divide 163 by 170 and multiply by 1,000 to determine that the team’s Academic Progress Rate for that term is 959.

Teams that score below 925 and have a student-athlete who both failed academically and left school can lose scholarships (up to 10 percent of their scholarships each year) under the immediate penalty structure.
Teams with Academic Progress Rates below 900 face additional sanctions, increasing in severity for each consecutive year the team fails to meet the standard.
Year 1: a public warning letter for poor performance
Year 2: restrictions on scholarships and practice time
Year 3: loss of postseason competition for the team (such as a bowl game or the men's basketball tournament). <-- UConn bball is an example this past year, next year their scores improved to avoid the next level.
Year 4: restricted membership status for an institution. The school's entire athletics program is penalized and will not be considered a part of Division I.

15 weeks 3 days ago ferns should make them come visit

Ferns should tell all these coaches to come visit very often, make them use their recruiting budget and time on a player they can't get.

17 weeks 3 days ago 89 NCAA run

My favorite memory as well, Glenn Rice setting that tourney scoring record was awesome, and this was when I was an undergrad so I experienced the celebration in the streets afterwards.

17 weeks 6 days ago Sparty can't wear all green now.

Sparty will no longer be able to wear all green, except when the play at BSU.

17 weeks 6 days ago Too much standing around by two players by design?

Keep in mind I don't have a high baskeball iq. Our offense appears too predictable sometimes. Two guys camped out at the wings for threes, most times a pick and roll or high screen. Most times it works, especially at home or a neutral court, but not against a tough defense and refs who let physical play go. Why not do more triple screens to get a hot shooter a better shot. They run it every now and then, but maybe I don't have the eyes to see it being run more than when our offense went cold and turnover happy. I would like to see better drives to the hoop from Robinson, who has gone AWOLon offense in the past 3 games.

18 weeks 17 hours ago If not, they can talk to each other loudly about them

Even if you couldn't talk to a prospect, you can always talk loudly about them so that they could hear what your saying.

18 weeks 1 day ago Verification that Adidas sucks.

It's too drastic a change. Please no more Adidas when their contract ends with U of M.

18 weeks 3 days ago Agreed, put them on the line from now on

We been burned enough times by the three near end of games, I rather see the other team shoot a 1 and 1 or two free throws.

18 weeks 3 days ago Caris lost this game

Ugh Caris! Why didn't you foul him at end of regulation...ahhhrgghh!

18 weeks 6 days ago One who wants to go to every home game

I read that his whole family was hoping he'd choose Miami so the could be able to easily go tho home games, the live in Fort Lauderdale area. She doesn't want to fly to watch games. Not sure about the hammer, although I think the deserve it, the NCAA botched one of the easiest investigations and who know if this may result in Miami getting off on technicalities.

On that link Notre Dame was 7th toughest , Syracuse was ninth. There projected standings page is interesting to view, www.teamrankings.com/ncb/projections/standings/.
They project Indiana to win the conference and tourney.

20 weeks 4 days ago trademark time

Time to Trademark Big Sixteen and Big Twenty.

20 weeks 4 days ago Jason Kidd

I remember reading or hearing Jason Kidd said he would have liked to have played with the Fab Five since he thought they lacked a real point guard.  Imagine him feeding all the other players.  Jalen did a good job, but JKidd would have ran our team even better, likely to a title.  I believe he would have been a freshman when the Fab Five were sophomores, so it might have only been 1 year with Webber.  At least it would have made our chances even better during year 3 of that run.

Although you wrote "atheletes that went to other schools" you also mentioned no ground rules, so one thing every UM fan probably thinks, is we wish the Yankees hadn't deprived us one full year of Drew Hensen.

21 weeks 20 hours ago Ty tweets its false.

Ty tweeted that this is false and sources should be checked.

21 weeks 4 days ago Followed by him turning it back over

For those who didn't see the game, Timmy then got trapped on the side, a defender got a hand on it, and we lost it because the possession arrow was For the Gophers. awesome 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, but a game high 6 turnovers by Timmy.

21 weeks 5 days ago Timmy in traffic, recipe for

...disaster,

Tim needs more work on his handle, if I was a big ten guard I'd attempt to steal from him anytime he takes more than two or three dribbles. I will at least say he shot really well in the first half carrying the team.

28 weeks 2 days ago Spike vs Amadeo

Amadeo was higher rated cause he got visibility playing with one of the top "hs" programs in the country, quoted because its really a mill for churning out college level talent. Watching some of this games on tv, I was not impressed with Amadeo, and he did not have point guard skills like Spike. Amadeo is a 3 pt shooter. OSU website shows Amadeo averaging 6 min in 3 appearances. Will be interesting to see when we play them. Spike was a bigger need for our team, and better get in my opinion.
