Brazdeikis, Lithuania Upset USA Basketball
HUGE upset in the FIBA World Cup. Ignas Brazdeikis (11 points) and Lithuania just upset the USA in the FIBA World Cup, 110-104. A $100 bet on Lithuania would have won you $900. The loss doesn't eliminate the USA but it does drop them a spot heading into bracket play.

On the road for a long time, bound to happen

Every team is on the road except the Philippines. Many other teams have shorter benches so could have more excuses than the US team.

Michigan and Beilein got a shoutout during the broadcast, which was very cool.

As a proud Lithuanian, this pleases me.

I’m 1/8 Lithuanian. Also pleased. We Lithuanians can hoop. This is only an upset to people who haven’t paid attention to international hoops for the past 30 years.

I'm 1/100 Genghis Khan, but then again aren't we all?

It's not really a very relevant game. Tournament modes with intermediate group stages are an utter scourge and no intelligent governing body would ever allow them.
What it primarily means is that the US will play Italy rather than Serbia in the QF. I'm not saying that's easy, but Serbia were one of the pre-tournament favorites (well as much as anyone but the U.S. can be a favorite in such a tournament). So one may even be entitled to suspect some shenanigans here.

Spain pulls that garbage every time (and lookie here, they just lost to Canada) to get a better quarterfinal draw. But I hope we're not doing that. It's lame.

Did someone say shenanigans?

Iggy Pop!

Some absolutely elite names on the Lithuanian squad, including Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Vaidas Kariniauskas.

Don't forget Couscous Kasparaitis!

Totaly tired of these kind of takes. Yes Lithuanian names sound Lithuanian, Greek names sound Greek, Thai names sound Thai and so on. It's not noteworthy, you just have a limited frame of reference as to what names are standard and what names are unusual.

Not OT, Iggy played @ U-M.

But did the Americans have good looking dunks?
September 3rd, 2023 at 2:12 PM ^
The U.S. team been too busy calling out Noah Liles on Twitter(x) for his NBA champions isn't the World Champions take, that they were not preparing.

What I’ve learned on mgoblog is that anytime a US national team loses, it’s because they were too woke.
