Non contact knee injury. There is optimism though, was seen laughing on sidelines , had ice on knee.

He's going to be rusty having not played in a game since last fall. A season long nagging knee injury would make it that much more difficult. If healthy, he should do well since Iowa has an easy schedule. Then again, Brian Ferentz...

I thought Patterson did very well running the ball in 2018, but then it dropped off in production in 2019 for some reason.  I remember him picking up a couple of key runs against MSU in East Lansing back in 2018.  On our final TD drive in the 4th quarter, he pulled the ball on a 4th and 2 and ran for 11 yards, then later on the same drive he pulled the ball and had another 11 yard run to get us down to the 7 yard line.

His stats are 2019 - 87 carries, 50 yards (0.6 avg), 22 yard for a long, 5 touchdowns.

2018 - 76 carries, 273 yards (3.6 avg), 81 yards for a long, 2 touchdowns.

I hope he doesn't end up being glassy and not having a real shot to show off his skills for the combine.

My hope is that he has a Colt McCoy or David Blough type of NFL career - lots of great backup jobs. It's honestly the best spot to be in.

If you think about it, Chad Henne had one of the best NFL careers. Got to spend some time as a starter, spent most of his time as a backup not getting hit, still had some key moments in important playoff games, won Super Bowl rings, and gets to retire with wealth and health.

Cade tops the list of Michigan players who don’t get enough credit for their achievements. Its not an exaggeration to say that he rescued Michigan football. If he doesn’t turn things around that year, Harbaugh is quite possibly fired and the program would be back to square one. From there, we’re talking about a Nebraska level of rebuild.

I hope he finishes third in the Heisman race behind Corum and McCarthy and has a great NFL career.

I mean you said “it’s not an exaggeration.” Implying that your comment should be taken literally… except it IS an exaggeration.

The fact is, Cade was a role player on a great team. He played his role and that was what we needed from him. But we don’t have to sit here and pretend like the kid throwing 15 TD passes in 14 games was some superhuman effort to throw the team on his back and carry us to the promised land.

Personally, I’m appreciative of his contributions to the program and will remember him fondly. But I have no misconceptions about his abilities as a passer or his on-field contributions either and we shouldn’t have to pretend he’s an all-time great or a program savior simply because he was part of a great team.

That would be a great point except that the team had Hutch and Haskins in 2020 as well.  The one thing that the team really lacked was reliable QB play, and Cade brought that.  Of all the differences between the 2020 and 2021 teams, Cade's ascension to QB1 was, IMO, the most significant.  In that sense, he did save Michigan football.

Hutch played in 2 games in 2020. My opinion is that getting a full season of Heisman-level play from Hutch in 2021 was a more significant difference from 2020 to 2021 than Cade's contribution, not to say I don't greatly value Cade's importance to that season as well.
