I hope he's all right. I'm rooting for the guy.
August 12th, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
Me too. Always hope for no injuries but especially with a good guy like him.

Yes, yes. And anyone to the left of Reagan is a filthy radical commie socialist. Have we covered all the bases now?
August 12th, 2023 at 9:18 PM ^
This would be funny if anyone actually thought this way.
August 13th, 2023 at 7:51 PM ^
I’m assuming your parents have passed away and haven’t been brainwashed by a certain cable news organization. Cuz I’ve got a lot of elderly relatives who think that way. Politics aside they are all very good people.
August 12th, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
He's going to be rusty having not played in a game since last fall. A season long nagging knee injury would make it that much more difficult. If healthy, he should do well since Iowa has an easy schedule. Then again, Brian Ferentz...

A season long nagging knee injury would make it that much more difficult.
Does this mean he won't pull on the read option?
August 12th, 2023 at 11:27 PM ^
what was patterson's excuse...gattis???
August 13th, 2023 at 9:35 AM ^
I thought Patterson did very well running the ball in 2018, but then it dropped off in production in 2019 for some reason. I remember him picking up a couple of key runs against MSU in East Lansing back in 2018. On our final TD drive in the 4th quarter, he pulled the ball on a 4th and 2 and ran for 11 yards, then later on the same drive he pulled the ball and had another 11 yard run to get us down to the 7 yard line.
His stats are 2019 - 87 carries, 50 yards (0.6 avg), 22 yard for a long, 5 touchdowns.
2018 - 76 carries, 273 yards (3.6 avg), 81 yards for a long, 2 touchdowns.

BTW, UM4ever, taking a glancing look at your tag, I thought it said "U-Mwhatever," FWIW, I like "U-M4ever" much better."

Also OT, Girls5eva is pretty funny.
August 12th, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
I hope he doesn't end up being glassy and not having a real shot to show off his skills for the combine.
My hope is that he has a Colt McCoy or David Blough type of NFL career - lots of great backup jobs. It's honestly the best spot to be in.
August 12th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
If you think about it, Chad Henne had one of the best NFL careers. Got to spend some time as a starter, spent most of his time as a backup not getting hit, still had some key moments in important playoff games, won Super Bowl rings, and gets to retire with wealth and health.
August 12th, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
I believe that Brady guy—Ted? Tom? Thor?—had a pretty good run too.

Get paid damn good money to rep with the 2s, workout in world class facilities, and hold a clipboard.
Excellent gig.
August 13th, 2023 at 9:05 PM ^
Jim Sorgi of Fraser backing up Manning had probably the easiest NFL career in history and made a lot of bank for that time ($4M+) for a clipboard! He threw the ball 156 times in 6 years for Indy ! He started exactly 0 games. A dream career!
August 13th, 2023 at 10:31 AM ^
Just googled how Henne earned.
QB Chad Henne retired last night after a 15-year NFL career, $40 million in career earnings and the same number of Super Bowl rings as John Elway, Peyton Manning, Bart Starr & Roger Staubach

I could scrape by on 2 point Something mill a year.

Ugh, hope it's not serious!

I'll be rooting hard for Cade this year, I hope he kills it for Iowa. Especially against MSU and Penn State
August 12th, 2023 at 4:07 PM ^
Cade winning on the road against PSU with a pass to Erick All...where have we seen that before?
August 12th, 2023 at 4:28 PM ^
Get well soon, Cade. Pulling for you young man! As always,
GO BLUE FOREVER!
August 12th, 2023 at 5:11 PM ^
Fully expect to Cade to lead the Hawkeyes to a respectable 8-4 season and NOT have to face his former team this yr.
Mich will be beating Wisky on 12/2/23.
August 13th, 2023 at 1:54 PM ^
Lmao, not hard to imagine Cade back in the B1G Championship game!
August 12th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
sucks to hear. hopefully hes back at 100% when the season starts. i mean, im rooting for him. he was the qb for the team that broke the curse against an osu
August 12th, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
I still remember his post-game interview, Nebraska 2021. Michigan used to lose those games. He helped turn that corner.
August 12th, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
August 13th, 2023 at 1:56 PM ^
He'll be fine, looks like something small, an MCL sprain or something. Two weeks on ice and he'll be 100%. (No, I'm not a doctor, just talking out of my ass.)
August 12th, 2023 at 5:58 PM ^
Cade tops the list of Michigan players who don’t get enough credit for their achievements. Its not an exaggeration to say that he rescued Michigan football. If he doesn’t turn things around that year, Harbaugh is quite possibly fired and the program would be back to square one. From there, we’re talking about a Nebraska level of rebuild.
I hope he finishes third in the Heisman race behind Corum and McCarthy and has a great NFL career.
August 12th, 2023 at 6:17 PM ^
Its not an exaggeration to say that he rescued Michigan football.
I'd rather say that the 2021 team rescued Michigan football. He was part of that team and deserves credit, but a lot of other guys do, too. Does that team win the Big Ten without Hutch? Haskins?
August 12th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
No. He did it single-handedly. That’s obviously what I meant.
August 12th, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
However you meant it, the statement was over the top.
Cade was a good game manager. Luckily, that's all we needed from him, since we had an elite running game and could bring JJ off the bench.
August 12th, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
Feels nice to be a pedantic blowhard, doesn’t it? I feel sorry for your wife.
August 12th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
I mean you said “it’s not an exaggeration.” Implying that your comment should be taken literally… except it IS an exaggeration.
The fact is, Cade was a role player on a great team. He played his role and that was what we needed from him. But we don’t have to sit here and pretend like the kid throwing 15 TD passes in 14 games was some superhuman effort to throw the team on his back and carry us to the promised land.
Personally, I’m appreciative of his contributions to the program and will remember him fondly. But I have no misconceptions about his abilities as a passer or his on-field contributions either and we shouldn’t have to pretend he’s an all-time great or a program savior simply because he was part of a great team.
August 12th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
Eh snarling wolverine means no harm. Just ignore him and pour him some more scotch
August 13th, 2023 at 2:00 PM ^
Cade is a good quarterback, period. Yes, he's a game manager, but overall he is a good quarterback and managing games well doesn't detract from that!
August 12th, 2023 at 7:21 PM ^
LOL. Dude, you literally wrote, "It's not an exaggeration to say that he rescued Michigan football." I mean that IS a huge exaggeration to say that and you don't mention Haskins or Hutch or any other players.
August 12th, 2023 at 11:40 PM ^
Or you can say it was Harbaugh's off-season moves on his coaching staff that rescued Michigan football, moving Moore to coach OL, bringing in Hart, MacDonald and Clinck, all contributing to the turn around
August 13th, 2023 at 12:27 PM ^
That would be a great point except that the team had Hutch and Haskins in 2020 as well. The one thing that the team really lacked was reliable QB play, and Cade brought that. Of all the differences between the 2020 and 2021 teams, Cade's ascension to QB1 was, IMO, the most significant. In that sense, he did save Michigan football.
August 13th, 2023 at 2:29 PM ^
Hutch played in 2 games in 2020. My opinion is that getting a full season of Heisman-level play from Hutch in 2021 was a more significant difference from 2020 to 2021 than Cade's contribution, not to say I don't greatly value Cade's importance to that season as well.
