Burnett was a top 40 combo guard who started his career at Texas Tech then transferred to Alabama and is now making his way to Ann Arbor

Sounds very talented.  I am a little worried this is his third stop.  I hope he can gel with the team because we could use his help

Alabama 6'4" combo guard.  Was a role player off the bench for them this year.

Played in 27 games, 14.6 minutes.  37/32/78 shooting splits, for 5.6 points.

Was a McDonald's All-American, went to Texas Tech, transferred after a year where he was at the end of the bench (12 games, atrocious shooting), got hurt and missed 21-22.

After all the fake news on twitter (Hunter, Edey) I am hesitant to believe this.

If true, love it for guard depth. Need to have options to keep the team running smoothly.

Edit* No I don't know who Tipton Edits is, my dude, but Seth says it's true so I believe. Problem is he implies that Kobe is going to get the push to go pro, so seems like a net loss overall.

FYI - Tipton Edits does the graphics for all LOT of kids commitment announcements - not just Michigan .

Thus he/she probably has pretty good sources - i.e. the kid asking them to make the graphic --and must have a good record of not letting out news prematurely to have so many recruits/players trust them.

What's the appeal on our end for a shooting guard who can't shoot?

“Michigan is the best place for me to thrive, offensively and defensively,” Burnett said to On3. “I’ve known coach Juwan Howard for a long time now, ever since I was a kid. I’ve always had a good relationship with him and I just felt it was the best place for me to be.”

Oh.

Well then! I know he has Chicago ties and Juwan recruited him heavy out of high school. But as far as impact this is on the Joey Baker level of transfers. Good for guard depth, but not anything that will swing the pendulum next season.

I think you are both right.  This addition does not significantly change the outlook for MBB next season on the surface.  However, adding a TALL guard with the ability and interest in playing tough D adds a dimension M has been lacking since Chaundee.  Bigger bump if Kobe stays around obviously but probably a net + compared to Kobe on the Defense regardless.

As much as we want to hate on Juwans in game coaching abilities he is having no problem getting good players to come play here. But you still have to win with these players otherwise its pointless. 2023-2024 will be a big year for Juwan

This was going to be my point exactly.  Juwans problem has been with roster construction.

His recruits either tend to be one and dones who don’t develop quickly enough to help the team win in their first year, or tweener types who don’t have enough skill and/or athleticism to fill in the gaps.  They also tend to overlap such that we have a glut of the same type of player and lack a true cohesion of skill sets.

Career 34.3% from the field and 29% from 3.  Higher TO rate then assists (1.1 to .8).

One positive is he appears to have a good FT percentage, which tells me he is actually a good shooter who either takes bad shots or is forced to do too much.

I don't think this is what the team needs, but their is some severe upside if he can play in a system and under control.

Nice to have a guard with some size. Won't have the crushing expectations here. If he learns to shoot, this could be good. Low-risk, high reward, IMO.

There is a guy in a Michigan basketball facebook group (admin) that still thinks Michigan is the best team in college basketball.  He cherry picks stats after every loss to show how great Michigan basketball is.  Your post reminds me so much of him lol.
