Was Reese a Hoke recruit?
Personally, i like Reese. He reminds me of a young David Harris. Give me a solid, sure tackling machine over a light, uber athletic guy who runs around like a chicken with head cut off.
There are a few guys i have hoped would not stick, but Reese is not one of them.

No. If it were 1 on 1, absolutely. But in this case, absolutely not.

Thanks for posting. Some of us do care about what are rivals are up to.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||Good writeup as usual.||
Good writeup as usual. Disagree on a few things though -
1) Mentioned Wormley getting buried on that play a zillion times. That is actually a plus for Wormley. Number 1, he gets doubled. ANY time a Defensive lineman is absorbing 2 guys, it should be a plus. And Wormley actually holds his ground for a few seconds until the RB gets to the line before finally succombing to both blockers. Should NOT be a negative, and should probably be a positive that he is good enough to demand and absorb 2 blockers. At minimum, should be a zero.
2) Peppers should get a point on that play for being the only guy to run as fast as Bo Jackson and easily catch that guy from behind. Peppers saved a TD - give him a point. He has been doing it all year. Maybe your so used to him doing it its a given, and you yawn now.
Other than that, nice writeup as usual. Easy for me to sit back and spend 5 minutes scrutinizing when you do 5 hours of work on it ;)

Not all of us fell over Green. I got slammed on here for my opinion of him.
Watch kids videos and all star games, and judge them yourself. Do NOT trust the stars.

Maybe/probably Morgan, but Bolden is very, very athletic. Athleticism is not his weak point.

USC ranked 10th with a 4-3 record is bullshit. Throw sagarin's rankings out the window.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Again, read my comment||
Again, read my comment below. Too many people confuse 'Recruiting' with 'Player Development'. Hoke did one very well. He did not do the other very well. There is a HUGE difference.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Your confusing 'Recruiting'||
Your confusing 'Recruiting' with 'Player Development'. Dont.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||You are kind of right. Hoke||
You are kind of right. Hoke recruited very well. Harbaugh 'appears' to be on his way to recruiting very well - probably top 3 in all of football.
What we DO know is that Harbaugh puts in a hell of a lot more work recruiting than Hoke did. Harbaughs ambition is amazing. His energy is off the charts. He works harder than any coach we have had to be blunt.
If Harbaugh keeps putting in this work, there is little doubt in my mind Michigan will multiple recruiting championships AND national championships. Wish i had half this guys ambition and energy.

Not sure why you were downvoted, but thanks for posting. I was actually looking for this. I figured if we all lost 1 to each other, one of the tie breakers would be out of conference record, which we would lose.
This is MUCH more manageable than i thought. Michigan will need to win fairly big of course, which they were doing before last game. We have a bye, will get healthy and will give Harbaugh an extra week to get our kids head back on course.
Thanks for posting this.

Im curious from a medical standpoint. From where we are in current medical technology, i thought athletes now even come back stronger from ACL tears, upon successful operation that is.

This is good for us. Throw a green true frosh RB out there and lets see how he picks up blitz assignments and holds onto the football while pepp tries to strip him.
This game, i like him playing against us. Maybe not next year, but this year ... yes please.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||And moving Gary to a DE spot,||
And moving Gary to a DE spot, that would be an extremely crushing rush defense without losing too much pass rush (or any at all). Moving him to DT bringing in more speed rush ends would enable an extremely effective pass rush.
The ability to move Gary in or out based on obvious pass/rush downs enables Michigan to have an unbelieveable 3 man line on any down and distance.

He was beast. Would have absolutely loved to see him under a Harbaugh offense/offensive line.
|6 weeks 15 hours ago||If there ever was a correct||
If there ever was a correct answer - this would be it. Mallet was the most talented QB i have seen in High School from a pro style perspective.
I think Harbaugh immediately humbles him, and Mallet absorbs everything Harbaugh teaches him. He would have been our next NFL Tom Brady.
Mallet is the correct answer IMO.

Criteria? Hoke won with RR's players/schemes. When he started implementing his own schemes/players, he started losing more.
RR came and gutted the entire team to install his system. Worst year was the first because of obvious reasons. But he had a progressively ascending wins EACH season year over year.
Hoke came in and ran with RR's players and scheme. Hist best year with what RR gifted him. Then he slowly plugged in his players and system year over year and progressively descendingly the wins went down.
For a guy who quickly and easily calls others an idiiot, how the fuk do you not see this, and how the fuk do you even think Hoke > RR?
I mean, are you being serioius? Your like my coworker a few years ago who demandingly and aggressively would argue that Barry Sanders and Dan Marino sucked and were losers because they did not win the super bowl. Records/trophys do not mean everything.
|6 weeks 18 hours ago||I really liked RR as a||
I really liked RR as a coach. He was a great coach before Michigan, and a great coach after Michigan - he did not suddenly forget to coach in between. As others duly noted, there were other factors that led to our demise.
I also really liked Hoke and wish people would quit slamming him. He was a good person. He was also a good recruiter. Just did not coach well or hire good assistants. But damn, leave the poor guy alone already.
But with above said, i will say that Dantonio REALLY benefited from RR in the fact that RR did not keep/build relationships with Michigan high school coaches. his focus was way too much on Florida than Michigan and the midwest in general. It allowed Dantonio to pick up some extremely solid talent that he would otherwise not get when Bo/Moeller/Carr were here. Its similar to the rise of Izzo. Izzo could get almost anyone he wanted in state - who wanted to come to Michgian after we got nailed? Izzo and Dantonio were very fortunate that they were heads at times where their dominant competition's local recruiting demise allowed them to recruit the best in state for different reasons.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Actually, there is no bad||
Actually, there is no bad news. He is their commit currently. If he stays with OSU, its the same news. If he decomits and comes here, its good news.
What i think would be funny is if he played Urbz. He cancels his remaining visits. OSU does not take the wiscy RB. Day before signing day he decomits from OSU and comes here.
Give me an ultimatum? Ok. Ill screw you.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Im typing this an 8th time||
Im typing this an 8th time just because its unreal. On the KO return video.....
Watch Peppers. Watch the guy he blocks/destroys. After blocking him, keep an eye on both Peppers and the guy he blocked (the guy he blocks is pretty much further upfield by a yard or so after the block. Keep an eye on both. Watch Peppers just fly in comparison.
Watch again. A second or 2 after the block, look where Peppers is compared to Chesson. At the end or just before Chesson scores, look where Peppers is in comparison. Plays his ass off and runs like a Deer. Nothing runs like a Deer - except Peppers.

Im really hoping for Corley, but if Crawford wanted in before Corley decided, snatch him up.
Im really pulling for the King duo of Hill and Corley to go blue. Believe they are both difference makers at their positions.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||So i just rewatched the||
So i just rewatched the Chesson KO return for a TD for the 5th or so time, but this time focusing on Peppers. And Holy Shit. Watch #1) the crushiing block and then #2) after the block, he outruns the guy he blocks by a yard every 7 yards, and pretty much almost catches up to Chesson.
Chesson is fast, we know that. And he may have let up but i still find it hard to believe he is faster than Peppers. Peppers has shown absolutely amazing accelleration and speed on defense multiple times easily gaining ground on runners let loose in open field AND catches 10 yards or more beyond where he initially was on the catch. Just an amazing athlete. Maybe Heston aside, possibly the best athlete in MIchigan football history speed/acceleration/strength wise. This is a Bo Jackson type athlete.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||and you don't think this is||
and you don't think this is entrenched in Harbaugh. Harbaugh as a player and coach - this game is reletively small potatoes compared to some of the games he has been involved in as a player/coach.
Tes this is a HUGE game to 'us'. But you honestly think Harbaugh views it as a HUGE game like we do. He is most likely viewing this as business. Just like every other game. Prepare, take care of business, win, celebrate for 1 hour, on to next game.
Sure, MSU's staff is seasoned with big games. But IMO it dwarfs the big game experience Harbaugh has endured.

Just chalk up people who think Gardner sucked, as people who know jack shit about football. Without Gardner (and Denard before him) how many games does Michigan football win?
Even taking Gardners WORST year, he is throwing almost identical to Rudock is WITH BETTER COACHING and better support cast. Add Gardners legs into the equation and ... well you get the picture.
I had to listen to a coworker hammer Gardner 3 years straight. Irritating as hell. Of course he also thought Dan Marino and Barry Sanders sucked because they were not good enough to win a super bowl.
THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM. Some people just do not get it.

I really get sick of all the cut-downs on this forum. How many countless times do the immature cut someone down then the sheep come out and attack me/others when a simple opinion or question is posted.
This one is pretty fucking bad though. Ban this guy please.

RJS has had a decent amount of playing time. But i sure hope Lawrence Marshall is as good as i think he will be, sooner than later. He will be taking up some serious snaps now, unless things are shaken around up front. I really don't want that to happen though because the chemistry on the front line is really good right now.

Persnally i think its in Michigan's best interest to play in as much rain as possible. Manball wins out and guys like Likely are less likely to do a damn thing in mud/slop.
We don't really have any burners outside of Peppers. It would make the game much easier to win for Michigan IMO.
