Valdosta, GA HS Coach Claims Kirby Smart is Aware of Illegal Payments to Players

Valdosta, GA High School coach Rush Probst claims in leaked audio that UGA boosters are paying up to 100k for new recruits.  He also claims Nick Chubb received 180k to stay at UGA for an additional year.

These schools are typically pretty good at covering their tracks and removing the “hard evidence.” Leaving the door open for plausible deniability and limiting culpability for the school and its officials.

Lack of hard evidence makes it hard toll for the NCAA to punish schools for their misdeeds, but it certainly doesn’t mean the schools aren’t guilty of those misdeeds and have ways of covering their tracks.

So a GA HS coach makes this comment in a non-public setting at great peril to his current & future job prospects, but you want hard evidence? What “hard evidence” do you expect of an illegal/unethical partnership? Do you understand HS football in GA?
Yeah, he should send us pics of the cash handoff. Maybe he needs to convince Chubb to give a voluntary deposition.

There’s some crazy stuff in that recording.  Probst talks about Hoover, Alabama funneling money from I-20 drug seizures to his Hoover program.
He also says that Bear Bryant Jr is the guy that handles all of the payments to Crimson Tide recruits.

Oh college football....where Jim Harbaugh saying "it's tough to beat the cheaters" gets more negative attention then yet another example of people knowing about the cheating going on.

While the allegations are hardly shocking, the guy making them is himself under investigation for paying players to play at the high school where he coached, so he may simply be trying to deflect attention from his own violations.  Also, Chubb denied he was paid to play his senior year, as alleged, noting quite logically that if he needed money that badly he would have entered the NFL draft.  So while I wouldn’t be surprised if the claims were true, I wouldn’t bet the ranch on this guy’s honesty.

At this point it’s all allegations, so until there is actual evidence, Nick Chubb is innocent until proven guilty.  So I give him the benefit of the doubt.  Let’s see some evidence and then we can call people out for lying.
“...real detectives have to worry about that little thing called evidence.” “Uh oh, I think I heard a toilet flush.  Maybe somebody lost a turtle.”

There is plentiful evidence that players at various schools get payments, despite very little ever getting investigated.  Therefore, people are inclined to believe stuff like this happens, even in the absence of proof out of an investigation.

Just a few examples, not even including the link above:

High-end cars of Alabama players:

John U. Bacon relating info from Rashan Gary:

Articles like the famous "Meet the Bag Man":

A little farther down in this thread from Xtramelanin:

"long-time, very good friend's son played at UGA.  you can take that payment 'revelation' to the bank, so to speak."

Again, none of this is proven in investigations.  But if I had to bet on it, I would bet that stuff like this does happen.

You may remember Rush Probst from such TV shows as “Two a Days” where he was the coach of Hoover, Alabama.  He then moved on to Colquitt County, GA, where he was fired after allegations of impropriety.  Including providing medications to players.

Another tidbit:  Valdosta’s qb to start the year was California 4 star Jake Garcia.  Garcia’s parents got a divorce so that he could qualify to transfer to play HS in Georgia since California had canceled the season due to COVID-19.  Crazy.

NIL is right around the corner and will hopefully even the playing field a bit. That and an expanded playoff need to happen asap to save college football from the current 3 team annual invitational.

It's frustrating how many SEC schools cheat semi-openly and nothing happens. LSU is a circus right now and nothing is going to happen. Georgia is obviously paying recruits and nothing will happen. Tennessee is obviously paying recruits and nothing is likely to happen but they're already bad so maybe the NCAA will do something just because it's easier than hurting a 'good' program

Also, with how Georgia's been going lately, I assume the state legislature will make it a crime soon to dare speak out against UGA football
