BIG Recruit Visit - #1 CB Doran Grant to be visiting this weekend

Submitted by BKFinest on

As per scout, behind paywall, Doran Grant will be in attendance this weekend at the game. Not sure if it's an official visit or not, or for that matter, if he's even there just to watch MSU. But this certainly can't hurt us. Is this possibly who Sam Webb was talking about as the shock visitor??

I mean no one really gave us a shot w/ Demar (even though it ultimately ended up shitty for us). We're winning, have a program that is constantly in the headlines now thanks to Denard...and we are famished for help @ DB and he can step in in a year or two and be a star...fingers crossed. IMO - would be a much bigger recruit for us than Dee simply because our D needs a serious infusion of talent, and our offense is pretty stacked. But hey, I'll be greedy and take both.

Lets say the good things happen, he sees the big house in it's glory, and a dominating performance by Michigan's O, then he says to himself "hmmm, if I go play at Michigan, I could start right away, and if they have even an average Defense with Denard and that offense....

“Right now Michigan State and Ohio State have a slight lead over the other schools in my list,” Grant said in an interview with Scout.com. “I just feel very comfortable with both schools and really enjoyed visiting their campuses, coaches, and players when I was there for unofficial visits more than the other schools.

His other finalists include Michigan, USC, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Penn State, and Cincinnati.

I've been wanting to post this as it's own post, but don't have enough points....but it's one of the funniest things I've seen on the internet in recent months.

This link here talks about what appears to be Doran's mom writing him a letter on his recruiting profile on cleveland.com. Awkward? And then to top it off she writes a letter to then recruit Christian Bryant on his own profile?

The actual page where these comments appear from "tonyagrant" are here (Doran) and here (Christian).

I will never get too excited about any Ohio recruit until they declare for us.  Doran Grant is awesome...but a guy who is leaning toward both OSU and MSU?  Don't get your hopes up.

Not important enough to make a post and i dont have credibility but I believe Omar Kaddurah, who is the top long distance runner in the state, is also visiting. He still might not come but most likely will. His best mile was last year, 4:07.2 i think. He also finished 3rd in the national championship for the mile.

Dear Dorian,

As you prepare for your trip to Ann Arbor, let me give you a few things to think about:

1.  Check out our stadium.  Nice, isn't it?  Did you know that it is the largest stadium in the country?  Cool, huh?  Did you know that next year, we will have awesome new lights?  So, if it wasn't enough for you to play in front of 110,000 fans, now you can do it under the lights on prime time TV.

2.  Watch our defense.  Given the speed with which our offense scores, and the amount of time that our defense is on the field, you will have plenty of time to watch them.  See how crappy our secondary is?  Man, could we use a young, stud HS CB.  If only we had a young, stud HS CB who was highly ranked, I bet he could walk in the door and start from game #1.  Do you know of any stud CBs who would like to comein any play immediate?  Whoever that is would probably be looked at as a hero and could have his pick of any of our many women.

3.  On the topic of corner backs, you know that not so long ago, a highly ranked CB came to Michigan and won a NC, a Heisman and went on to be one of the most successful CBs in the NFL.  He also chose us over OSU and MSU.  Just saying.

3.  Check out Denard Robinson.  Yeah, he really does have a smile that melts your heart.  I expect that after he wins the Heisman this year, we will be the game of the week like every week next year, so I guess we will be nationally televised a lot.  I am sure that MSU gets nationally televised once or twice a year.  They play us (that's once) and ND (that's twice).  If you are into that kind of thing, it might be cool to play here.

4.  Our helmets have wings.

5.  The weather for the game is predicted to be 74 degrees and sunny.  This is the weather all winter in Ann Arbor.  Don't believe that nonsense that you hear about cold, miserable winters.  Those only happen in East Lansing and Columbus.  Here, the air is naturally heated by the warmth of Denards smile and the kenetic energy of his constant, fast, motion.

We hope that you enjoy your visit, and can't wait to spend the next 4 years with you.

With great love, respect and adoration,

The loyal Michigan fanbase

We're clearly in third place here, behind OSU and MSU

But, I stand by what I said back in the summer with Grant.

We get him up her for the MSU game, beat the Spartans and look exciting doing it, then this horse is in play.

Still wouldnt be the favorite, but I feel we'd move into 2nd spot and who knows.

He said he's waiting until after his season to decide and I tell you what, Ohio is going to be easier to recruit with a winning team, the best player in CFB that everyone wants to play beside and IF somehow we get a win over the Bucks. Not sure all three needs to happen to get Grant, but a win against this week's rival will actually give us a chance in this Derby.

E-specualtion. I dont read and parrot scout/rival boards, so I'm sure somebody will correct me here
