Franz Wagner Hat Sich Nach Michigan Verpflichtet! Comment Count

Legen Sie Ihre Englisch-Deutsch-Übersetzer weg—I mean put away your English to German translators, because our Teutonic Savior is coming…at least I think that's what this means?

Despite the head coach who recruited him leaving for the Cavs after check-in began on Wagner's cross-Atlantic visit, Michigan gains the equivalent of a lottery pick at a position of major need, and a massive upgrade in shooting on a team that has a lot of everything but. This takes Juwan Howard's first-year expectations to "Proooobably make the tournament with a defensive team that has no spacing" to "Possible a Sweet16-seed with a defensive team that has no spacing when Wagner's off the court."

If you'll excuse my German: Scheiße ja!!!!

You are either saying “first” in English in which case I ask why are you the way that you are?

Or you’re saying “frist” in German which google translate tells me means “deadline”, in which case I am just confused

he should head to campus shortly and enroll as a 2019 right?

howard closed on a big one - they need more capable shooters and wagner should really help in that regard.

lots of younger / less experienced players with potential to elevate and grow their games - its gonna be an interesting year

Interesting that hed choose to be an exploited collegiate athlete playing without compensation instead of taking the pro contract from his hometown team playing in a top 5 Euro league.

Huge get for Howard!

Franz looks like a kid that might be able to step in right away, whereas Bajema will be good, but maybe not right off the cuff...

Definitely a major get as Michigan looked like it would have trouble scoring with the departures of Poole and Iggy.

Really thrilled to hear of Franz's commitment!

A translation of his post:

"Thanks @albaberlin !!!

For all the time and energy that my coaches invested in my over all these years.

For the trust and the chance which you gave to me to prove myself on the professional team and to develop.

I am incredibly proud to be able to say that this club will always be a part of me"

really optimistic about juwan as a recruiter, especially after matt D from EM mentioned that recruits very much prefer the more direct and engaged recruiting style than what was apparently an unpopular approach under beilein.  early returns are looking VERY good.  here's hoping to some fab five 2.0 mojo.

I don’t get people’s recruiting fears. Coach B wasn’t a good recruiter. He had huge success and never managed to consistently bring in top level guys.

Juwan is a young’ish black man, with extensive nba experience, who was a star college player. If he’s even  bit personable he’s going to kill recruiting.

If the team is decent this year, next year’s recruiting class will surprise people.

While I am very excited about Franz coming to Michigan and how our basketball prospects just got much better for next season, I am also very depressed that I don't remember anything from my four semesters of German when I was a student at Michigan.
