Respectfully disagree with this. No way they could keep Sabb off the field in '24. If he or Rod moved to nickel, it just makes them even more valuable in NFL Draft. But next man up, Berry & Hillman lfg
The NCAA has spent years and millions trying to preserve the system of: YOU have to play more games so WE can make more money. Warde is just falling in line. It's OK for him to be well-compensated for a leisurely job, but heaven forbid the players want to help their parents pay the bills or have some money for their future.
Appreciate these guys for calling it like it is, reprehensible
Hopefully we're headed toward Harbaugh's revenue-sharing model. In the meantime, sounds like Warde's determined to keep that donor money to himself. The battle continues.
Just from the timing of the leaks, it sure seems like people at Michigan slow-played this hoping Harbaugh would leave while they tried to make it look like they did everything they could. Probably safe to say it wasn't just Warde, but maybe the Burger-gate suspension really was the sign of a rift.
Always throws me off that Tennessee ranks 10th in wins, ahead of USC, LSU, Clemson and many others. I guess they did win a title in '98, but have rarely been a factor in last 50+ years
Except we didn't deserve a split in '97. That illegal kick vs. a bad Missouri team should have disqualified Neb, got a share because the coaches felt sorry for Tom Osborne
Feel like Michigan's offense is just about everything in this game. Should dominate Wash defense much more than Wash controls our defense.
Huskies defense has stood up at times. Texas had 3 TDs, 4 punts in 1stH. Wash led Oregon 20-3 in Pac-12 title game. Their DBs can be very aggressive sometimes.
Stack up some long, slow TD drives and Penix never gets in a good rhythm.
Yeah, Freeze came up with a nice game plan. Auburn had Bama's defense reeling at times. They went like 60 yards in 6 run plays in the first half, went no-huddle to lock Payne on the field and just blew that middle 5 off the ball. They broke another long RB run in the second half against a different set of DTs, then started using the QB run late in the game. Used some clever pass routes to set up big gains with some crossing patterns.
If Auburn doesn't muff a punt catch in 4thQ, Michigan-Bama probably isn't the matchup.
They won the national championship the year after Peyton left. What in the frick have they got to complain about? Why not complain about Tee Martin not winning the Heisman?
The thing is, if it wasn't him, CMU would have long ago had an answer, "It's this guy." Someone invited him (how else would he know/have the exact shirt) and the Chips are just going to shut up and hope this fades away.
There's all-22 coaches film taken of every game. Imagine how easy it would be to pass along "unedited" footage of your opponents' sideline, including all signals.
As someone who knew Drew, I have to speak up. He was a really good guy, very pleasant in his college days. I felt like the business kind of wore him down over the years and he felt pressure to be the "big stick" columnist. I could be wrong, but think he was forced into a role that wasn't natural for him.
He was a regular at Michigan basketball games in the years after he graduated, just as a normal fan. So the idea he was a Michigan hater is not correct imo.
I read a story once that Schembechler and Knight both interviewed for the respective vacancies at Wisconsin in the late 60s, within a few months. For whatever reason, Bo left the process disillusioned with the Wisky athletic department and told Knight not to go there.
Can we just appreciate the extremely high level of twitter sleuthing going on right now regarding Connor Chips Gate? This is what Elon had in mind when he spent those billions.
I think the point is this isn't the scandal of the century some people make it out to be. Especially when virtually no one is raising alarms about schools paying large sums for players to jump into the transfer portal, which is affecting games far more than Stalions' nudging observations.
Every top school has someone in charge of sign-stealing. They share info and all push the envelope.
How does an aspiring Michigan head coach like Stalions set himself apart in that environment? By lining up his navy of cellphone spies and telling the Mich coaches the reason he's so great at it is because of his elite military training.
On other sites, he's been portrayed as sort of a rising star, who would sometimes take recruits and their families on tours and answer questions about NIL or whatever. Apparently, he was very good at that part. Between that and his military background, the staff must have believed he was uniquely prepared to steal signs off TV feeds
Crazy how private texts are getting passed off to media outlets. Whether it's Stapleton or whatever, the NCAA sure does pride itself on unprofessionalism
Feel like this story nailed it. I've been thinking about how much crazy stuff has happened with Michigan football the past few years from Gattis and Weiss to Burger gate and now Special Ops Stalions.
Thanks 11warriors for providing some clarity. Harbaugh & company decided a couple years ago they were sick of losing to the bucknuts and were ready to get serious. This is college football and the crazy crap is the cost of being a powerhouse. If anything, we can feel good about gun possession being the most serious legal charge, very tame compared to what's happened on other campuses.
If you're enjoying this era of Michigan football, the proper response to the "spying scandal" is a shoulder shrug. They're not canceling the Mich-OSU state game. Life will go on
Hard to imagine anything happening to this year's team. Fox is counting on 10 million-plus viewers for Mich-OSU, and if Mich was banned from playoffs, good chance Big Ten gets shut out. Not to mention next year's Texas-Mich game was the determining factor in Tex/OU being allowed to leave early for SEC.
This is going to be resolved by a big fine. Hopefully nothing that drives Harbaugh away.
Stalions seemed to be focused on the defensive side. I'm sure others have noticed, Michigan's defensive guys spend a long time staring at the sideline waiting for the call before most plays. Maybe coaches are waiting to get a handle on what offensive personnel is on the field, maybe they're trying to decipher the play call. Who knows?
Their evidence is Michigan playing great defense and other schools complaining. None of us can say for sure what they might find in this investigation.

Well-written story, kudos to Paul Nasr
This vid made me really happy until Sabb showed up, then I could feel the tears slide down my face.
My 1-minute google search revealed coach Kason Dickerson played at EMU, then Wayne State roughly 10 years ago. He said he'll be back

Maybe Sabb leaving creates room for Zeke Barry to step in and become a star. Sad to see him go, but this could benefit multiple parties
Where would we be without Brian Jean-Mary?

Ryan Day's Toughest Team Money Can Buy is not ready for what Alex Orji has in store
Feels like I've heard multiple osu people say Vrabel HATES recruiting. So it seems unlikely, but never say never

As an aside, threads like these are great. Not moving to Michigan, but it's cool to learn more about it.
From the comedy segments, "They didn't even wear their maize pants," is my favorite punchline of all time.

Imagine if it were the Washington at MSU game where Stalions or lookalike was spotted on the sideline
He followed a promise. Hope the check cashed.
An Orji pass play will be the momentum-changer

History vs. SEC hasn't been kind, but if last year's osu can almost/shoulda beat Georgia, this Michigan team can beat Alabama.

Just got to get used to the criteria:
Illegal sign-stealing = dire threat to player safety
Legal sign-stealing (ie sharing info) = who cares, why are you bringing this up?
Day's PI's struck the first blow, then had a few months to try to cover their tracks, that's why it's been difficult.
NCAA has the spread sheet as concrete "evidence" plus the accusations of a disgruntled pedophile to use against Michigan
Pop Goes the Weasel maybe
Conference championship games should disappear, no doubt. A G5 play-in game would be fun
Thor Griffith is from Portsmouth, NH. Will he try to save his fellow Granite Stater or does he know enough about Day to avoid him?
If the bucknuts want to loop this video in their football building 24/7 until next year's game for motivation, fine with me.
IDK, I like Ryan Day's gray tie -- some gaudy Ohio pride with a nod to the Granite State, which made him who he is.
Speaking of opposing coaches, Bielema did what exactly?
Look, if you're nervous about the game, just imagine how Third Day feels
The thing is, if it wasn't him, CMU would have long ago had an answer, "It's this guy." Someone invited him (how else would he know/have the exact shirt) and the Chips are just going to shut up and hope this fades away.
On a related note, WHAT A FRICKIN DAY PATRICK HAD AT PENN STATE. Incredible photos. Keep up the great work.
If only the NCAA cared about buying players
"Empire" not ending with destruction of some sort of Death Star is a plus. Too much duplication in that series

Weird he's a bucknut fan after the way they scapegoated him

Don't forget to renew the warranties
osu is not going to the playoff if it loses to Michigan by 28 points, Not much chance of an in-season punishment
