Michigan vs. MSU SNOWFLAKES Thread
...for you boring sober people that actually want to discuss the game.

IZZO YOU SO MAD?!?!

WE WON! THOSE FUCKS LOST!
The officiating got a little bit better, though through the second half into about the 8 minute mark I was steaming at a few calls/no-calls. They did well in finishing the game though.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
Did anyone else feel like the calls got a lot better after Beliein lost it on the refs? Seems like the refs were like "Oh shit, he noticed..." Coincidentally, that's when we started getting some stops on defense.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
It suddenly got better late in the second half.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
Yea, I know the Beilein thing was a little after the mark I'm thinking things kind of "changed
per se, but I think yes, it mattered. I'm curious to what exactly pissed Beilein off; he got a little Fran in him and I honestly can't blame him, though, I'm glad he backed off as he was CLOSE to getting the T.

but I would really like to have seen a JB body slam happen last night.
January 26th, 2014 at 5:46 AM ^
is what set him off ( and rightfully so). Not to mention Spike getting mauled and not being given a timeout by the ref standing right there a few minutes prior to that.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
It suddenly got better late in the second half.
Edit: Sorry, Bad Gateway error double post.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:57 PM ^
I was thinking it was after they refused to grant Spike a timeout. I think that sequence warrants an investigation.
January 26th, 2014 at 5:52 AM ^
Not giving Spike the TO was just ridiculous though, since there was no reason why he should not have been given it.
Beilein actually snapped a couple of minutes later, after Stauskas and Levert were hammered at the rim with no fouls being called.
January 27th, 2014 at 9:11 AM ^
Yeah, Stauskas as the trailer on the fastbreak was what immediately preceded the outburst, but I was thinking it was a culmination of things, of which the timeout was the most egregious offense.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:24 PM ^
WE GOOD!
January 25th, 2014 at 9:38 PM ^
Beilein uber alles. Beilein uber alles. Walton had ice water in his veins today.
I would also like to add that Beilein is 5-2 in his last 7 vs. Izzo. With equalish talent look who owns whom.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
was phenomenal, clutch on free throws but his aggressiveness on driving to the hoop made our offense really break down their defense.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:05 PM ^
this felt like Walton's coming out game.
This team, today, was just cold blooded from the line. A huge difference from the team last year when I would cringe before each foul shot.
great game.
Its great to be!!!!
January 25th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
17 pts on 10 FGA, 3 asst, 8!!! reb, 3-5 from downtown. Greatness.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:29 PM ^
You wouldn't know that from the open thread.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:38 PM ^
were ridiculous. The kid has had a big part in 2 of the last 3 wins...all 3 if you count his defense on Marble.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
Gonna need a gif of Stauskas' kisses.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:24 PM ^
Naw, ain't gonna happen.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:26 PM ^
did you really just cut and paste someone's opinion from Red Cedar and expect us all to be surprised, or care, or whatever, what they have to say?
boo this man.
January 25th, 2014 at 11:08 PM ^
You must have just imagined it, because the words certainly aren't there to see. I had just read it, and it was clearly in reply to a comment about Stauskas waving. Sorry, jdon, from now on I'll try to live up to your lofty standard.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
The poise of the team down the stretch bodes VERY well for the rest of the season. Go Blue!
January 25th, 2014 at 9:29 PM ^
Beilein lost it a little bit too, good for him, I hope he takes a piss on the floor somewhere before he leaves.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:32 PM ^
January 25th, 2014 at 9:32 PM ^
Was it just the culmination or did something happen. It looked like he pointed to his face like he was trying to say someone go hit in the face.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Yeah I missed that part. Does anyone have a video or can explain what happened? That would be greatly appreciated.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:13 PM ^
Explanation: he watched the same horrible officiating as the rest of us. It worked, too: we actually started to draw fouls on their constant reach-ins after that.

Even with GRIII playing like #2 they pulled it out. Walton was a stone cold killa with ice water in his veins.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:40 PM ^
Michigan eFG% - 55.00%
Michigan OREB% - 36.67%
Michigan Free Throw Rate - 60.00%
Michigan Turnover % - 13.66%
---------------------------------------------
Michigan State eFG% - 52.68%
Michigan State OREB% - 32.35%
Michigan State Free Throw Rate - 41.07%
Michigan State Turnover % - 9.03%
In the end, better shooting and going to the line every other possession helped us out rather a lot.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:17 PM ^
going to the line every other possession helped us out rather a lotThat's where all those end-of-the-game fouls distort things, a lot.
January 25th, 2014 at 10:49 PM ^
Those numbers are pretty incredible after seeing the same ones at half time. We really turned it on/started getting some fair officiating.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
JB has proved that he is an elite coach and does not cheat. He wins big games at home and on the road. Moreover, he devlops talent. Go BLUE!
January 25th, 2014 at 11:34 PM ^
Especially if you're a point guard, you pretty much deserve a slap if you pick anywhere other than Coach B's team. His development record is amazing.
January 26th, 2014 at 7:59 AM ^
Beilein has never had a junior or senior point guard here. Stu was a frosh, then Morris for two years, then Burke for two years and now Walton/Spike.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:42 PM ^
really had a great game. The experiance those boys got from the tourny run last year is really paying off.

Stauskas 5 of 6 from downtown.
Walton 9 of 10 from the line, and I'm pretty sure they were all in the last minute and a half. That's called showing up.
As a team that was probably the most impressive free throw performance I've seen from a Michigan team that I can remember.
We had 11 ORebs to Sparty's 11. And we narrowly won the rebounding battle overall.
On the negative said, Spike had his first turnover of the Big Ten season. Dang.
Max Bielfeldt played 4 key minutes and got 2 rebounds, and Brad Anlauf (?) gave us a few seconds but was 0 for 1 on FGs. Depth? We haz it?
January 26th, 2014 at 12:23 AM ^
Spike's one turnover came when he was trying to call timeout and the ref standing right over him missed it. That shouldn't really count.
January 26th, 2014 at 12:37 AM ^
January 25th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
another solid job by morfordfeldt; 10 pts 10 reb 3 blocks.
January 25th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Walton growing up. Stauskas proves he can do it (patiently) against an NBA level defender. LeVert makes key plays. GRIII pitches in despite not playing his best game. Irvin hasn't even scratched his potential. I think we're legitmiate Big Ten Championship contenders (obviously), but I do think we lack NCAA Championship potential without Mitch. Who cares, I'll enjoy the ride. Love this team.
On a separate note, I'll take a win in East Lansing under any circumstance, but I have to say it...MSU is gonna look very dangerous with Payne healthy. Dawson will help too, but I think he's negligible. Still a four team race for the crown (M, MSU, Iowa, Wisco).
