Michigan v. Purdue Postgame Thread
Trey Burke is amazing, but I wish they didn't have to let two players on Purdue have career games.
I hope the guy who replaces Trey Burke next year is Trey Burke. Or Brey Turke, who averages 18 assists a game and 7.9 points.
I think we'll be a mix of this year's team and last year's team...that's not a bad squad.
I'm excited to see what McGary can do next year with a year in the weight room and more polish to his game. He could be the inside scorer we haven't had in a while.
With Morgan back, GRIII should be back and in a bigger role, we'll rely more on the front line. Obviously McGary and Max B will be in there too.
I think LeVert will put on some weight and become an even better defender and he'll get more confident offensively.
Stauskas will have to get better on the defensive side, but offensively he should improve because he'll have a bigger role.
Albrecht will be back for some consistency and a "coach on the floor" type.
Toss in the freshman and I like the team. I'm not saying we're going to win the National Championship or even the B1G...but I like the team for sure.
Secretly, part of the reason I want THIS team to succeed and get to the Final Four and win a National Championship is because I'm looking forward to next season and the growing pains of reloading/starting over.
I think it'll be fun to see a new crop of guys trying to leave their mark. It'll be fun to not go into EVERY game feeling like we should win, but rather "if we play well, we can win." It's just a different mentality as a fan.
At the same time, it's comforting knowing that we should at least be 21-9 type good. If that's the floor, pulling out a few more wins or upsets shouldn't be that hard. It'll be fun to watch.
I know one thing, there will be less negativity after wins.
First, I agree with everything you said.
That being said. . . It's funny that we're using the term "reloading" when we're only gonna lose one guy. It's crazy how much he means to this team.
Don't forget THJ...I don't have him coming back either.
Take Burke and Hardaway Jr. away and yes we'll have to "reload." Like you said, still funny/weird because it's not a huge number, but obviously we all know what they bring to this team.
Why do people assume Hardaway will leave? I don't think his NBA stock is all that high.
Staying for one more year will do nothing for his draft stock, plus his dad had a comment a while ago that made it sound like he wasn't going to be back next year. I love THJr but I think he has reached close to his peak and should leave now.
In fairness, with Burke leaving, THJ will be the leader next year. He will be the one who has to put this team on his back. If Michigan does well next year (and they should) it could really increase his draft stock, especially if he takes over a game that we win, which I still don't think he's done yet.
A Win and we're a 2-seed.
Lose and we're pretty much a 5-seed playing on Thursday night (unless one of the big guys fall to a lower team, like Ohio St. to Illinois).
Edit: I'm trolling so hard right now
This is incorrect. The only way we're a 2 seed is if we win, OSU loses to Illinois, and State beats Wisconsin. We could be anything from 2 to 4 if we win, depending mainly on what happens in the MSU-Wisco game (root for State if you want us to be off the 4 line).
I'm rooting for Illinois and Wisconsin so neither ohio nor msu gets a share of the title.
Hear, hear.
I know we're guaranteed a first round bye if we beat Indiana, because MSU and Wisc have to play each other and one team will then have 6 conference losses. Not sure what happens if we lose, but I assume a 5 seed, possibly a 6.

Just take into account the win tonight and there is your answer.
A loss to Indiana means a 50/50 shot of missing out on the bye.... yikes
It's worse than that. A loss means that we need MSU or Wisconsin to lose out in order to get to pass them. Essentially, win or we are the 5th seed, barring some miracle.
That is perfect.
I could stare at this for days...
A good suggestion: a players only meeting
Some of the GameThread crew should probably calm down a little bit
Yeah, how many people said JB needs to be fired? At least three. There is no doubt that it is frustrating watching this team sometimes, but people need to chill out and let the game finish before freaking out.
I wasn't in the thread today.
I mean I was upset at times, but NEVER like that. I'm almost embarrassed. That is such an OSU reaction and statement. They're always the ones to go overboard.
I hope my MGoBrothers were MGoDRUNK. In that case, I can let it go. Otherwise, that's pretty disgusting when you talk about a team that has lost 5 games.
I had to give up reading the open thread early in the second half. The level of negativity was brutal. I understand being upset, but to be so mad over a regular-season college basketball game (and not a rivalry game or anything) is just not worth it. If we would have lost we would have been 24-6 instead of 25-5. First World problems, those.
Dylan DID over at umhoops, and it just quickly changed the tone a little. It bugs me sometimes when a high level of mendacious stupid is tolerated but thoughtful stuff that even borders on the political gets stanched.
Ban them or send them to Boliva. Put them on "read only" status.
People only do it because they can get away with it.
And I know some people say "just neg them and self-moderate" but in an in-game thread so many people are posting, you're not moderating every post...or even any post. At least I don't...from time to time, I may upvote, but I almost never neg a post unless it's something crazy like "Fire Hoke" or "Fire Beilein" or "Trey Burke #$&%* SUCKS!!!"
One of the finest comedies on film, IMO.
Cant say im gonna miss watching this team play in true road games
sorry, tried to upvote the thread but my hands are still shaking.
I believe we are 2nd or 3rd with a win Sunday. If we lose we'll be 5th unless OSU loses vs Illinois or the MSU/Wis winner loses their other game.
We have to play better defence, but I think we will rise to the occasion. Not enough can be said about trey, the road losing streak is over!!!!
GO BLUE
Stauskas needs to play better defence. The rest of them need to play better defense.
I do "postgame thread" for wins.... "snowflake thread" for losses.
Everybody needs to calm down. Gooosfraba.
Not great defense. Up early, Purdue playing poorly, and we let them get back in it and then get on a roll. We are not a good road team. Burke takes over games late while others stand around.
The good: Trey Burke takes over late in games and wins them. We didn't totally go in the tank like at PSU. We are not shooting well lately. Burke is awsome, it is a shame to see his career here coming to a close.
Don't play D and don't push the ball hard. Settle for long two or contested three and don't follow the shot. We went from down 3 to down 12 during one stretch.
Eliminate these stretches in the game and we win going away. Case in point - we out scored them by 17 after being down by 12.
Just compare our current state to last year at this time.
Last year, we won at Penn State and then had an agonizing wait, hoping OSU could knock off MSU at Breslin. For 90% of that game, it didn't look like the Bucks would pull out the W.
Now we get to play our final game AT HOME, against the first place team with a shot at a share of the conference title. This is big stuff. We need Crisler to be rocking like it's never been before on Sunday.
Too bad Jim Harbaugh will be in attendence wearing IU gear.
like there's no tomorrow.
