Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are the leaders right now. Sounds like he never wanted to leave his home state of Texas but opted to go to OSU for a year instead of his senior year of HS to make $1M+ in NIL money (Texas laws outlawed HS students earning NIL money). I respect the hustle tbh

The staff has really bent over backwards to keep McCarthy engaged and get him some looks. Most coaches probably would have just went with McNamara as quarterback all year. In my view it would be short sighted to leave early when he is going to be a star here if he is patient.

Is their latest commit a 22? So Stroud-McCord-New Guy on campus next year? That's reasonable.
Not sure about McCord's plans. I assume Stroud will go pro after next year. Is McCord willing to wait and have a QB comp with the new guy?

No sense in trying to project this stuff as the Portal changes everything. The Days of Braxton Miller, JT Barrett and Cardale Jones on one roster starting the year is long gone for all teams.

My guess is McCord goes through summer and fall camp competing with the new guy for backup duties. If he wins the #2 spot he'll wait it out and start at OSU in 23. If the freshman gets the second-string job McCord will hit the portal in August just before the season starts. Temple or something where the job will be his as soon as he hits campus.
