NCAA Hate/Friday Drinking/Banging Thread
Mitch to the NBA, Lindsay to OSU, and other dangerous nouns as well.
In lieu of the usual posbang thread, what is everyone drinking?
Although, if you wish to lighten the mood with a posbang, I'm sure nobody would mind. I don't really care if you choose to bang or drink, or maybe even both at this point in time.

remunerate, not renumerate
/thatguy
not my only typo. Let's just be happy I didn't break the keyboard....yet
I hear you. Today is definitely a day to break things.
Probably serving Sweetwater IPA, but may go with Terrapin RecreationAle since it's going to be an hours-long affair and that's more of a crowd pleaser.
Open to suggestions, though, as I'm not buying the keg until tonight.
Oh, and boo NCAA. Boo that organization! Free McGary!
Now i'm REALLY going to get drunk tonight!
That was offered in this thread
I know this isn't the crux of Mitch's issue, but it is the crux of my disdain for the NCAA and its hypocrisy.
Can we talk about Mitch's friends for a moment? If your friend is a player on the basketball team, who you know gets consistently tested for drugs, why do you keep offering him pot over and over? Some friends those are...
Because theyre 18,19,20 & 21 year olds. I know I didn't think rationally at that age. Not very well...
I would be a year's salary that you don't know anyhing about Mitch's personal life.
So you should probably shut the fuck up.
I'd agree with you if we're talking about hard drugs.
Weed is not a hard drug. Weed is weed.

Listen, I agree that weed is weed, I'm not a stickler when it comes to recreational use. All I'm saying is it sounds like his friends constantly tempted him to use it -- knowing full well that it could have a dramatic impact on his career.

I'm sorry I overreacted. It has been a rough morning.

No problem, man. Tough couple weeks for all of us!

How many of Mitch's friends knew that the NCAA had such a fucked up rule? I fall more on the "extreme" end of sports fandom and didn't know that they would suspend somebody a year for one negative result on a drug test.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:30 AM ^
1 game or 1 year, friends would still realize that it would be a huge news story if McGary was suspended for drugs.
It's gonna suck not getting to see him play more, but we'll always have that one time in March. The NBA might actually hold interest for me now, so there's that.
I have to work, so drinking at 10:00 AM EST is not an option.

But... but...
April 25th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ^
But my boss hasn't paid me since December, so I think I should start drinking.

in addition to drinking

In lighter news, did anybody see the "market analysis" that the ACC conducted last year after the Maryland departure announcement. Just came to light yesterday as Maryland is planning to use it in its case against the ACC.
Pretty funny stuff. Some serious chest puffing on behalf of the ACC. Have they always had such an inferiority complex?
Money quote - "The ACC has always been one of the leading basketball leagues. With the new members joing, there is no doubt which conference is supreme in basketball."

if someone passed Mitch the doob in a bag. Might have been something the Athletic Department could have used as a reason to look the other way. Just saying.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:06 AM ^
I wonder what the NCAA would do to me if they found out that I once downloaded a song illegally using Napster.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:08 AM ^
April 25th, 2014 at 10:06 AM ^
Oh well. Michigan will continue striving for "the right way" while the NCAA punishes them harshly for every extra second practiced and pot smoked while the guys they should actually be worried about get off with slaps on the wrist.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:07 AM ^
is that Mitch McGary decided to go pro after being tested positive for marijuana, which is more like a promotion than a punishment. If the NCAA was doing the right thing, then the NBA should also ban McGary for the same time period. But given that the NBA isn't insane, they're welcoming him with open arms.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:09 AM ^
...thy name is NCAA.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:06 AM ^
This sucks. And I can't even drink b/c of my FSA exam in 5 days.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:07 AM ^
Terrible sports week...plan to drink and bang tonight to make up for it.
April 25th, 2014 at 10:56 AM ^
Kind of like pizza.

Complete and utter Lunacy, that NCAA.

Nik is gone, GR3 is gone, Mitch is gone, it's raining, our pets heads are falling off...

look for a Horford like transfer option now. I mean, we got like Caris as the 4 and Irvin at the 5. We need a body in there. Quickly.

My close friend told me yesterday she has a tumor and <10 years to live. We're in college. Sign me up for a hate day.
