It's a very strange thing to…

It's a very strange thing to me that everyone would not want helmet comms b/c they steel signs.

Those who steel signs effectively/prevent their signs from being stolen would be hurt by a change in rules; those who do it poorly would benefit by making it impossible.  It can't be the case that everyone is above average at it.

Now, maybe it's not that they're good at it, it's just they enjoy doing it.  OK, fine, but you have to devote time and resources to it (and time and resources of avoiding getting your signs stolen).  So, don't bitch about not having enough time.

If I were a coach, I'd be glad to have one less thing to have to worry about.

You may not be a wiz at video editing, but you are a wiz at embedding in the original post.

Sigh, you guys.  It's not a…

Sigh, you guys.  It's not a just B1G stat because as already noted if it were just B1G then it would have to add to zero.  You also know that the unprinted ones can't make up the difference exactly because there are 10 teams that are no worse than +23.  It cannot add up.

Your Tennessee guys have a…

Your Tennessee guys have a number of videos reviewing various Michigan games, which showed up in my YT recs.  It's weird listening to guys with southern accents praising Michigan.

What's that South Park meme…

What's that South Park meme of the dad in front of his computer?  I'm listening to a prediction video for the natty as I type.

For your consideration, 1981…

For your consideration, 1981 Rose Bowl, Michigan 23 Washington 6, Bo's 1st Rose Bowl win.

Besides Georgia, duh, I…

Besides Georgia, duh, I think Oregon.  And I don't like Texas.  They're not a disciplined team.  I'll believe they have it to win only well after seeing it with my own eyes.

Day needs to do two things…

Day needs to do two things to go far in the playoffs.  We won't have an idea of how he has executed these changes until perhaps the end of September.  In order of importance:

1.  Create a mansome run identity on the offensive line.  He doesn't have to be Michigan, but he can't call ends around on 4th and 2 anymore b/c he has to.

2.  Create depth in the front 7 by playing them more when the game is still in play.  I don't think he needs to go as far as Michigan, and I don't think he has to rotate 4 in the secondary.  But, he wears down guys, especially his D-ends.  And it's going to be important b/c if he imagines being in the NC, he'll be playing 3 games after 12 (either 3 playoffs or 2 playoffs and B1G champ, or maybe, shutter both).

Pete Thamel is waiting for Ryan Day to call him up and tell him what happened.

It's stupid, but it's our stupid.

I caught the tail end of the…

I caught the tail end of the Pat McAfee version of the title game, and he was arguing that it was unfair b/c of the different response.  (He wasn't arguing that it's the reason why Michigan won, and I kind of agree with him, even if I think the reason was like most reasons---someone fucked up.)

Good on him to wait until…

Good on him to wait until after the championship.

Howard in a Day offense…

Howard in a Day offense makes as much sense as Allar in a Franklin offense.  Meh, maybe he'll be fine.

This can't be true.  Day…

This can't be true.  Day said that there were no such plans to add a QB.

After they win it and storm…

After they win it and storm the field, watch for a winged helmet sailing to feet in the air.  The resolution is pretty good.

Thank you for that.

I don't…

Thank you for that.

I don't need to visit the parallel universe where the snap hits him in the hands solar plexus high.  Still, he was probably going to have some intense pressure from Stewart and Moore.  It wasn't going to be easy like M's game-tying TD, but yeah, it would have better for them than the no-hoper that was slamming it in the middle.

I have no truck with fans of…

I have no truck with fans of Alabama.  But, when it comes to fans of Kentucky or South Carolina, or Vanderbilt chanting S-E-C, you can be g-d certain I've gotta list and checking it twice about any of those who crossed my path and said something to me.  Remember the North.

Alabama is going to be fine.  In fact the teams that probably had almost as big a loss yesterday is Georgia and Ole Miss, b/c 2024 Bama will be better for this.  Milroe in the press conference sounded like he has it together to use it as a means towards improvement.

And oh yeah, I can't help myself but the last few days, even this morning, I'm checking in with some Buckeye schadenfreude.  YouTube thinks I'm a fan.

I love posts that tell me…

I love posts that tell me that I'm not the only one who bitterly holds on to injustices from decades ago.  But, this is why when the Big Ten put together its conference commercial highlighting its fans, Michigan was represented by a dude celebrating his 90th birthday.

Hey, this is the last other…

Hey, this is the last other games thread of the year.  Enjoyed them this year.  Thanks to all.

I don't think Ewers has a…

I don't think Ewers has a particularly strong arm.  He's very accurate, so a successful college QB.

Not the first guy to hate,…

Not the first guy to hate, but Rod Gilmore said towards the end of LSU squeaking by Wisconsin that it was an omen for how the playoffs were going to go.  Fuck that asshole.

Not the first one to hate…

Not the first one to hate necessarily, but Rod Gilmore said at the very end of LSU barely beating Wisconsin that this was an omen for how the playoffs were going to go.  Fuck that asshole.

Does anyone believe they're…

Does anyone believe they're not going to go get a transfer to play QB?

Fell for it again.

Fell for it again.

Kienholz is going to throw a pick if he keeps throwing off his back foot.

Sawyer might be making himself a bit of cash tonight.

So much for the snappers.

So much for the snappers.

Good lord, that throw --…

Good lord, that throw -- duck season.

All you need to know about…

All you need to know about Kienholz is that he was behind Brown.  And Brown blows.  I don't know how any insider thought that Brown was going to beat out McCord.

BEST: PSU's offensive line…

BEST: PSU's offensive line will remain a problem for them.

WORST: OSU's defense will remain a problem for them.

If Alabama didn't complete…

If Alabama didn't complete the 4th and 31 pass against Auburn and yet won the SEC championship game exactly the same, does FSU get in over Georgia?  I think they were locked at the pat-on-the-head 5 and the Committee was going to pick someone over them, much preferably an SEC team for obvious reasons.

Does it matter in your…

Does it matter in your evaluation that Wallace picked the ball up and immediately handed it to the official, and didn't joyously run to the sidelines to get his buffs pic?

All you've said is true, but…

All you've said is true, but watching and rewatching it, there's a chunk of time between whistle and nonchalant recovery, while everyone else has stopped.  Unless you wrote a rule about it specifying the tenths of seconds that can elapse, which would be absurd, one has to live these events that people won't agree with.  So, what you say is correct, one could still come to a different conclusion.

In an otherwise perfect world, what should have happened is that the officials let the play continue and then review whether it was a fumble---and probably overturn the call to incomplete pass.  My initial reaction was that it was a bullsh** call.  I haven't changed my mind.

This also points to a flaw in the system.  In cases when you let a play run even though you're kind of sure it shouldn't, then the standards of review should be 50-50, not tilted heavily to the call on the field.

What they should do: …

What they should do:  Michigan;  Washington;  Texas;  Florida State

What they will do:  Michigan, Washington; Texas;  Alabama

What they should do if you insist on Alabama being there and it really is just best 4:

Michigan;  Alabama;  Washington;  Texas

At the end of the day, it comes down to whether it should be the best four teams only or whether you have to mix best, deserving, nod to how they're playing now, all with good taste or you want to whine about transparency and hard rules/definitions because you think the world is simple.  In my case, I lean a lot on "deserving" and can live with other people disagreeing.

Also, the only way you put Washington above Michigan is if you think you should only judge things with just the last game.  Include the last two games (or any more) you have Michigan >> Washington.

So funny I texted it to a couple family members.

I don't understand Sarkisian…

I don't understand Sarkisian.  It's one thing to get wrapped up in the game, but as soon as he sent his offense out there, doesn't he have only one job, which is to call timeout if needed, especially if it was just a bid to get them to jump.

Ewers is really accurate but…

Ewers is really accurate but all his balls feel loopy---not NFL caliber.  But for college, the accuracy is excellent.

Is 23 the freshman corner…

Is 23 the freshman corner Texas has to play.  I ask b/c that was horrible coverage, and my brain struggles to rationalize away absurdity.

I fully identify with the…

I fully identify with the spirit of this post.

At this point, however, to protect my own mental health and emotional state I'm going to move all such claims from the bin labeled "Ideas that Never Occurred to Me" to "Stuff Said that May or May Not Be True."  This file has two subfolders: "Unverified Empirical Claims", of which this goes in absent more information, and "Reasoning to a Claim Because the Speaker Can't Think of Another Explanation."  This is not to cast any dispersions on your character.  There has been a ton of bullshit in the last month, and I'm done picking my way through it.  I'm just neutral on everything that is not close to an undisputable fact.

I'm perfectly fine with it being posted.

I'm reminded of the scene in…

I'm reminded of the scene in This Is the End where Chatum Tatum is on fours wearing a collar and a leash that Danny McBride is holding.  If you wanna stop being treated as a dog, stop acting like a dog, crawling on all fours and jumping anytime your master says jump.

I'm happy to change my mind on this being a misleading description of what's happening.  But, I'm going to need some help.

First half sad field goal…

First half sad field goal ruins the OSU's shutout.

You must be new around here…

You must be new around here.  You forgot the footnote.  "Only applies to the team up North."

Sparty with the most obvious…

Sparty with the most obvious fake punt and still easily converts.

Iowa just scored a TD to go…

Iowa just scored a TD to go up but missed the 2-point try.  They're up 12-0 w/ 13-1/2 left in the 4th.

I get people boycotting other Big games.  I wouldn't mind a ruling though on whether a hierarchy is allowed and how that would be organized.  The top two are obvious.  Is there any reporting on who were particularly whiney bitches otherwise?  I guess Rutgers and Purdue might go on the list given their sign sharing.

If you're not voting for JH,…

If you're not voting for JH, Moore, Hart, Jay or Minter does NW's Braun deserve consideration for coach of the year?

I'm not rooting against…

I'm not rooting against Sanders, but I am rooting for Jedd, so glad he got the win.

I didn't see anything…

I didn't see anything egregious penalties against us not called, but I'm not good at that.  I thought all the penalties called against us were penalties, and the interception was no good.  I thought the call against PSU on the punt return was iffy.  At worst, I thought it was neutral enough, certainly not home cookin'.

I file all of this under, we…

I file all of this under, we'll see.  At this point I keep telling myself to not jump on what will make me feel good as Platonic truth.  Maybe it's right; maybe it's wrong.  BUT, I fully appreciate the post, being triply careful about what was said versus, "So I speculate..." and wish that people outside of this community were as interested in helping people figure out what is and what isn't the case.  Thank you.
