But, he had to recruit that way with that knowledge.  It's what you don't see, as well as what you see.

11/12/2018 - 10:59am Parking map on the Rutgers…

Parking map on the Rutgers site lists a few day-game parking.  There's one close to the stadium to the east of the stadium and south of the R Johnson medical center.  (Everything is named for the guy.)  We didn't park there but parked in someone's backyard by there for $20.  It was an easy walk to the stadium and got a tip to first head a little north.  That set us on a course that wouldn't take us to the south end.  The stadium is on a hill, so if you come in from the south you have 4 stories or so of steps to climb.  The north end is flat.  Stayed to the end, which was a good call (duh) but more so because the place was so cleared out, traffic.

Second time there, better than 2014.

I'm going to the game tomorrow.  AND, I was at the game in 2014.  So, it's kind of personal.

Big 12 football is just weird.  They resolutely refuse to cover people, and tackling is optional.  Really frustrating to watch.

That said, the end of the WV-Texas game was BadAss.

Maybe the pull of home will be too strong, but Brohm can do better than Louisville.

One complication at USC is that it doesn't have a president, and if you're Swann you might want to know the big guy has your back if you're going to sign someone for beaucoup bucks.

Anyone catch Klatt on BTN?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fdSjGSoaMg

Basically said he loved it because it's the opposite of the corporate NFL where players care about the front of the jersey instead of the back.  He admitted that he really couldn't defend his position as an adult.  Respect him more.  He also ended by noting everyone was talking about Michigan's role, but Michigan State isn't innocent in the deal.

Lol, declared I was done and talked about it more.  Guess, I should have said, done with caring what Sparties have to say.

10/24/2018 - 10:51am This is a better discussion…

This is a better discussion of the issues than the usual fodder where people are just complaining and coming up with examples of bad applications.  But, the bottom line is that football has to do something about concussions and spinal injuries, or there isn't going to be tackle football.  And the carrot/stick has to be strong enough to change behavior quickly.  Keep in mind that part of the intent of the rule is to change behavior to protect the "offending" player.  When you lower your head, you risk breaking your neck.

It's very important that everyone root against Oklahoma because if you do not, then they'll win.

10/23/2018 - 11:46am I would submit that Brohm…

I would submit that Brohm would do better to stay at Purdue and wait for something better (maybe even this year, USC?) from that limited point of view.  Maybe he really wants to go to Louisville, who knows, but I don't think that job is much better than Purdue. Louisville is going to want to lock him up with a big buyout.

Psychological projection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which the human ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.[1] For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.

As far as I'm concerned you can play The Hives every week.  While I get that "Hate to Say I Told You So" had a meta purpose, I think "Walk Idiot Walk" would have worked very well this week.  Other Hives songs for your consideration is: "Try It Again", "Main Offender", "Abra Cadaver" (Rutger), "Die All Right", "Won't Be Long", "You Got It All Wrong", "My Time Is Coming", Two-timing Touch and Broken Bones", and "Fall Is Just Something Grown Ups Invented".

10/17/2018 - 5:44pm I feel like the text is a…

I feel like the text is a little too down on the DL.  I get that a +2 among the DTs is an L in the scoring.  But, I've watched enough Wisconsin games where Taylor goes over 200 because he's sprinting in lanes wider and with less interference than the Olympic 100 meters.  I'll worry about our DTs holding up against NFL lines if and when we play Alabama.

10/16/2018 - 11:53am No, it's not the FS that…

No, it's not the FS that makes the play.  It's the CB #5 originally blocked by McKeon that gets back into the play.  That FS is totally lost.  Stare at the middle of the field on the replay.  You'll see that he's still facing the line of scrimmage when one of his teammates is starting to pass him to chase Patterson.  I'm sure when Leonard prepares the film session he'll be muttering to himself "learning opportunity, learning opportunity" because if that guy had any experience you'd be screaming at him, "WTF are you looking at?  You gotta have broader vision than tunneling into the tunnel."

10/14/2018 - 10:31am Came back to semi-correct…

Came back to semi-correct something.  The McCaffrey TD was the same play.  In that case, however, the edge defender stayed outside.  McKeon adjusted well to then both seal him and widen him out.  McCaffrey cut inside for the TD.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.  Sweet.

10/14/2018 - 9:33am Well done my friend.  I…

Well done my friend.  I think the last few pics show that it was #5 that screwed that up.  He got inside of Gentry when he had outside contain.  If he stayed outside, he would have had a chance to make Patterson serpentine a bit to allow others to catch up.  To be fair, he's the guy who eventually tracks down Patterson.  And to be fair, Michigan executed as well as you can ask.

One item I would add in the great "keeping things in reserve/playing possum debate".  Practice time is limited, and there are lots of things you gotta rep.  So,

a.)  If you're going to introduce a new thing.  It has to be tooled to allow for a bunch of adjustments.  Otherwise, it's not worth the practice time.

b.)  I imagine that the adjustments are added after you get the initial stuff straight.  Maybe it takes weeks to get all the way there.  I'd be surprised if any team can walk into the season with the whole playbook down pat.

I think Lewerke deserved better in this game.  Lots of dropped balls.  MSU really misses White.  And while the interception was stared down and sketchy, it's still hit Chambers in the hand---the wrapped hand, so wtf is that?
