Honestly, I think we'll get to 8 or 9 wins again next year. The schedule is just brutal and there would have to be big changes to see that reflect in our overall record. I think they'll be better, but not so much as to push for the division title.

OSU is still OSU and may be even better with Haskins, MSU will be even better, PSU will step back without Barkley but they will still be contenders, and Wisconsin will still be an extremely tough game. And then there’s ND, and depending on what Frost can do with Nebraska they could be a very tough game too.
If we play those games like we played yesterday, that is automatically six losses right there.

I think they figure to lose 5 defensive players.

Your point being?
Wisconsin has been among probably the top-10 most consistent programs in America over the last decade. They're good for 10 win seasons every year. Now yes, some of that has to do with the weak division they play in. But wins are wins. And with the talent they are able to churn out with a relatively minimal talent level compared to UM, OSU and PSU, it's amazing what they can do.
They're still going to be a very tough game next year even if they lose everyone.

Our catastrophically terrible year was an 8-5 year. We have a very good head coach with an excellent track record who will make changes. Whatever.

I have Late Lloyd, RichRod, and Brady Hoke PTSD.
To fight it, I have to keep stating the facts: the offense was a rebuilding project that Jim has been able to paper over with transfers and good coaching until now. There was no way to paper over the hole in our offensive line recruiting, especially with the Grant Newsome injury.

we have to stop the turnovers
cost us at LEAST 2 wins
that will come with better QB play and better experience for our kick returner
I am excited for the future - not a glass half empty type person this board is full of

This place is something.

Same. 9 wins on that schedule is nothing to scoff at. 9 wins is the goal and anything more is gravy.

I'm not all rah rah about next year (and the future) as I was before yesterday...
But I still believe that the 2017 team will be Jim Harbaugh's worst.

It's been easier to get over losses ever since our loss to MSU this year. That took the life out of me and took me a week to recover. Then I knew how shitty this year was going to be

So over it, already moved on. At 8-4 what's the point in getting mad at an unimportant bowl game loss?
January 2nd, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
It wasn't so much the fact that they lost that did me in. It was HOW they lost.
And how lost they looked while losing.

I'm over it, I'm hopeful and excited for next year. Thank god I live in los angeles and there isnt a spartan or buckeye in sight, I've known one (MSU) in the last 20 years and he was a cool guy that didn't rib me too hard and moved back to the midwestern tundra long ago. I feel for you guys.

Never ever see someone wearing MSU gear, OSU gear is very rare, I see M gear from time to time.
January 2nd, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
Disappointing loss - I hate to call it a meaningless game because I know it meant a lot to the players. Fifteen of yesterday's starters have two or more years of eligibility remaining. It will be interesting to see how Harbaugh responds in the off season. 2018 will be better even with the tough schedule.
January 2nd, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
will wait until any coaching changes and player draft decisions are made. 8-5 as a floor is a positive change, but here's to hoping the ceiling is higher than 10-3.
January 2nd, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
Its the outback bowl. Only thing that matters is winning the B10, which wasnt happening with a win in the outback bowl. Onward.

Yup. Having the major problems we're showing in year 3 is more concerning than in year 1.
January 2nd, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Yeah but those first two teams were loaded.
This team was not.
So the issues make sense. That doesn't explain everything, but it'd actually be way more concerning if the 2015 or 2016 teams went 8-5.
