06/27/2018 - 11:33am Can someone do a "There Are…

Can someone do a "There Are..." for #66 Mike Hammerstein for today? He was a highly effective piece of the 1985 team's defense. I would post it myself but lack the points yet.

06/27/2018 - 10:32am Typical.  USA Today is about…

Typical.  USA Today is about as useful and informative as an MSU Diploma.

06/01/2018 - 2:27pm LOL

06/01/2018 - 11:33am GOAT

Charles Woodson. He just made critical plays at key times in important games seem so routine.

06/01/2018 - 11:31am Tim

I live in hope to see a Michigan RB "Biakabutuka" an Ohio State defense again, and soon.

06/01/2018 - 11:30am Yeah

Dude was a wrecking ball.  If the excellent O-Lines he played behind failed to make a hole, HE would MAKE one.

05/22/2018 - 4:11pm I agree

We would have been a CONTENDUH!

05/22/2018 - 4:03pm What do I miss?

05/16/2018 - 5:07pm Unpopular Opinion?

Most Ohioans I know are kind, thoughtful people and not rabid scarlet and grey lunatics. Mostly because they did not go to, well, you know...

05/11/2018 - 11:19am Seconded

Beat Notre Dame.  GO BLUE

05/11/2018 - 11:10am I don't care who starts

I just want UM to have a healthy, high-performing starter for the OSU game. I don't care who it is.

Just be healthy, stay healthy throughout the game, avoid big mistakes, make big plays, and win the game for your team, for the program, and for all of us long-suffering fans, in that exact order.

05/01/2018 - 1:47pm Feels like a setup to me, too

Feel free to go ahead and prove me wrong, Mr. Patterson.  : )

05/01/2018 - 11:10am Nah

The team will be better, they're going to be more mature physically and in terms of experience, so I expect overall improvements in multiple areas.

I don't have a handle as to how this may pan out in terms of wins and losses.

They are probably a 10 win team, which is good, but not what we want.  I would be delighted to see them beat Sparty and OSU, though.  That would make the season for me.

04/30/2018 - 2:46pm My questions for you are:

My questions for you are:

1. How many Rose Bowls have you attended?  What years?

I have never attended one in person.  Some day, perhaps.

2. What's your favorite Rose Bowl memory?  Hmm. I don't know. Obviously the GOAT's interception to seal the 1998 game, but also: Ty Wheatley, Sr.'s 15 attempt, 235 yards (!!!!) 3 TD, MVP performance against Washington in 1993, the last of which tied the game, 31-31, and gave the team a shot to win (and Grbac came through with a TD pass to seal the game); Leroy Hoard busting loose and dragging USC bodies with him most of the way to the end zone in 1989; and Wangler to AC in 1981 to put the game away.

3. Will you attend Michigan's next Rose Bowl?  Maybe. Never say never.

4. Outside of the Big House, is there another stadium you like as much the Rose Bowl? No. It's not even close.

04/26/2018 - 12:10pm HA HAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stop, you're killing me...

04/26/2018 - 12:03pm Who do I want for the Lions?

Completely new ownership that wants to win, and will open the checkbook to go get the best General Manager, Scouts, and Coaching Staff they can.  The same checkbook needs to be open for hungry, talented, competitive players who also want to win.

04/24/2018 - 10:28am Cool name

Aeneas seems a suitably heroic name, but I like those old, heroic names from antiquity, like Hector, Achilles, Alexander, Philip, Pausanias, Leonidas, Julius, Brutus, Marcus, etc

04/20/2018 - 12:53pm Don't say that name

*spits three times over left shoulder, crosses self*

04/17/2018 - 12:05pm He looks the part already.

He looks the part already.  Just get that boy into the football nutrition and conditioning program for at least one year, and then let him out of his cage to see what he can do...

04/17/2018 - 12:00pm HA!

I read those lines and heard Cait O'Riordan singing it in my head.  Great song from a great album.

go raibh maith agat, a chara...

04/10/2018 - 11:13am What can you expect from a pig...

but a grunt?

At any rate, I'm cringing in anticipation of an NCAA screw job that may or may not happen.

I refuse to get too high or too low about Patterson's eligibility this year until it's decided.

03/30/2018 - 5:03pm Left Tackle

That's Warriner's job.  He can certainly do it, has a track record to prove it, and he has some promising underclassmen coming off of red shirts.  We have some reason to hope he will fix it.

03/20/2018 - 1:40pm Any word...

On Shea Patterson's eligibility for next season?  The waiting is interminable...

03/09/2018 - 2:30pm that's a great question

Michigan should have a womens' hockey program.  Seems like it would be a great addition to the Atheltic Department and it would have strong support from students and alums, as well as the average Michigan sports fan.

02/02/2018 - 12:22pm tastes better, too

see subject

02/02/2018 - 12:22pm Yuck

I'd just as soon drink water as that stuff.  Has about the same effect.

02/01/2018 - 10:18am Big hand for WBB

Well done, keep it up, GO BLUE!!!!

01/31/2018 - 3:51pm I watched the 1981 Rose Bowl

I watched them win their first Rose Bowl under Bo Schembechler when I was 8 years old.  It was a glorious game and a glorious win.  Butch Woolfolk and Anthony Carter came up big, so did the defense.

01/23/2018 - 12:25pm bingo

The Bears are hopeless screwups when it comes to roster management, scouting, and coaching.

01/16/2018 - 12:16pm Anyone else

feel queasy about this one?

01/11/2018 - 10:33am and his weight

should be 245, not 220. : (

That kid was SUCH a disappointment, like most of Brady Hoke's recruiting "wins."

01/09/2018 - 4:13pm Yay!

Good decision, young man.  Go Blue!

01/09/2018 - 12:59pm Hang in there, Ace

You're a great writer and I enjoy your work. Just keep being strong. I hope you have a great and productive trip to see your CFS specialist and are feeling much, much better soon.

All the best

01/08/2018 - 1:33pm *puke*

They're going to beat the Dawgs up and take their lunch money. It won't be pretty.

01/04/2018 - 5:50pm THIS

This is the truth, painful as it is.

01/04/2018 - 1:20pm Honestly, I felt worse after

Honestly, I felt worse after losing the Rose Bowl to Washington in the early 1990s, when their defense just clobbered us. I felt worse after losing to UCLA in the 1983 Rose Bowl, when our defense couldn't stop Terry Donahue's pass-first offense (and the refs ignored UCLA holding our DTs and Linebackers ALL F***ING DAY).

It is up to the coaching staff to get the team ready to play September 1, 2018.  I am confident but not certain they can do it.  I remain hopeful.

01/04/2018 - 1:10pm These are the times that try MGoFans' Souls

Hang in there.  We must be constant, and not in our bitching about the team's deficiencies.

I'm sure the career professionals on the coaching staff are well aware of them.

01/04/2018 - 12:26pm I think that's reasonable, but

We need to not give in to the "Fire Harbaugh" crowd even if things do not go well next year.  The program badly needs some continuity in its coaching, especially when it is recruiting fairly well and has a lot of young talent in the pipeline.

01/03/2018 - 4:03pm The Cubs

Also changed ownership shortly before their championship.  Before that, they had over a CENTURY of mediocrity due to the miserliness of the ownership and bad luck.

01/03/2018 - 1:31pm That

would be a waste of his time.  He will not have the necessary authority over personnel as long as the Fords are in charge.

01/03/2018 - 1:29pm The Lions are Fucked

As long as the Ford family owns them. They are uninterested in fielding a consistently competitive team, getting to the playoffs, or winning playoff games on a regular basis.

Not so with Michigan. Excellence is expected, no, DEMANDED, and the program history reflects that, mostly. If they're not winning, something is WRONG, and the institution tries to fix the problem.

Not so the Lions.  As long as the fans keep showing up for home games, and the TV revenues keep rolling in, the Fords don't give a shit.

01/03/2018 - 1:02pm I second that

I have Late Lloyd, RichRod, and Brady Hoke PTSD.

To fight it, I have to keep stating the facts: the offense was a rebuilding project that Jim has been able to paper over with transfers and good coaching until now.  There was no way to paper over the hole in our offensive line recruiting, especially with the Grant Newsome injury.

01/03/2018 - 12:49pm You poor, deprived child...

I am so sorry that the UM AD screwed up the Lloyd succession plan so badly, and that the program is still reeling from that catastrophic mistake.

I am hopeful that soon, you will have much higher expectations of the program, like the ones I had in the late 80s and 1990s, and still have.

Go Blue

01/03/2018 - 12:44pm Oy vey iz mir...

Go Blue

01/03/2018 - 12:40pm Yes, this is definitely a Yay! girl moment

I miss her.  She's been kind of scarce this season.

01/03/2018 - 12:39pm Bravo, young man

Stay healthy.  Go Blue!

01/02/2018 - 5:42pm I'm certain he will

and some people are going to get some a piece of his mind...

12/29/2017 - 5:02pm I hope the Trojans

Light up Ohio State's secondary, big time, and give the Michigan staff lots of ideas to employ for The Game next season.

I normally can't stand USC, but they are welcome to beat the snot out of Ohio State any time.

12/28/2017 - 12:36pm sure it does

this is 100% correct. Just walk into a Taqueria in the barrio of your choice and say at the top of your lungs, "Hola, Pendejos!" and you will be welcomed with open arms...

12/28/2017 - 12:14pm Hear, hear

Yes, that would certainly help recruiting and remove a punk-ass program from the B1G, not bad things at all IMO.
