Some hate developing towards Denard Robinson already?
With any player that performs well and gets a ton of publicity and hype for such performances there tends to be some sort of anger or disgust towards that player (ex: Tim Tebow).
Obviously, Denard Robinson has been tremendously good these first two games. So good that ESPN is bringing out the hype train saying Denard is the Heisman front-runner. A group on Facebook has claimed tomorrow as "Shoes Untied like Denard Robinson Day." While I was looking at this group, I noticed some comments that belittle Denard saying he's too stupid to tie his cleats and others claim they cannot wait for him to start playing terribly so they jump off of the bandwagon.
Why such hate just two games into the year? Personally, I don't think he will be able to keep this torrid pace (hopefully he can though) but I just don't understand why there is hate already builiding up. I find it kind of sad because he is a great person, always with a smile on his face, and extremely humble.

hate the game. And right now Denard is playing this game like it's the PS3
Let's just all enjoy a good thing

I haven't noticed that much hate, but I have noticed a ton of faux concern on the part of rival fans ("He can't possibly survive the season"). No one seems to think he isn't a good player. They just think/hope he'll get injured before he plays their team. (The notion of their defense actually stopping Denard if he's healthy seems to be out the window.)

Unless you're damefan1 from youtube and are proven completely wrong.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:31 AM ^
The fake concern for his health is really annoying to me. Anyone give a shit that ND put a quarterback back in the game after he was showing neurological symptoms due to a hit to the head, probably a concussion? Brian Kelly is a fucking little piggy, and his shots at Rich Rod are pathetic.
it's just ridiculous. Lots of running backs run 25-30 times a game. Did anyway question Lloyd Carr's concern for Chris Perry when he carried 51 times?
September 13th, 2010 at 1:01 AM ^
But Chris Perry wasn't moving so fast that mere contact with other objects presented a serious risk of injury.

they scurred of him dude, real simple

i imagine it's similar to Tebow hate. Florida fans don't understand why the rest of the world hates Tebow. obviously thats a stretch comparing D Rob to Tebow considering Tim was in the news a lot more but its a similar mind set. someone does well and gets a shit lot of attention and there will be people pissed that they have to hear so much about it.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:06 PM ^
Florida fans acted like Tebow was crown prince of the universe, and yeah, when someone becomes that popular and/or are held up like a deity, it gets irritating.
Fortunately Rich Rod hasn't said anything like "If you spend 15 minutes talking to Denard your life will be better for it" yet, so his popularity has not reached the point where it becomes irritating.
Also it's most likely the haters are ND, MSU, OSU fans, etc.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:36 PM ^
...he just is genuinely good guy. He's even has nfl players flocking to him. While I can't say he'll succeed in the NFL, he definitely knows how to connect with people.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:47 PM ^
Regarding...
Florida fans acted like Tebow was crown prince of the universe...
Have you seen this board lately in its response to Denard. We've already bronzed him and given him the heisman. And, he hasn't accomplished anywhere close to what Tebow has in his college career. I hope he does, and I hope the whole country is envious of us, but I'd be careful about calling kettles black.
September 13th, 2010 at 7:30 AM ^
Maybe on this board people are going crazy over Denard but I can't agree that the rest of the media is gushing over Denard like they were with Tebow. I spent a week in Florida on business and it was Tebow this, Tebow that, every freakn' where you went.
Also, the same response was given to Tate, after a come from behind ND win, a year ago. If Denard goes through what Tate went through last season, ( shoulder implosion, o-line meltdown, 1-7 after 4-0 start) then all this praise will evaporate.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:42 PM ^
A lot of people, myself included, dislike Tebow because of his politics. Has nothing to do with football.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:42 AM ^
I wouldn't even know Tebow's politics. I only know that he's religious, goes on humanitarian missions to Africa, and for whatever reason the MSM calls him "divisive" without citing examples of why.

- Buckeye fans
- Spartan fans
- PSU fans
- ND fans
- Everyone else who hates us.
It doesn't surprise me one bit. Denard is spectacular and that makes people jealous and/or afraid. Lots of people out there don't want this team to succeed.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:03 PM ^
Consider my Sparty bro-in-law. I couldn't watch the game live, so had my phone off for radio silence purposes. After I watched the game last night, I turned my phone back on. There's a text from the aforementioned SBIL, to the effect of "look at the Heisman candidate caving like a little girl at the first sign of adversity!!" I'm not sure what prompted the text -- it came in about 5 pm, and I didn't go back to try to figure out what play he was talking about. In all events, I happily replied, asking him if he cared to issue a retraction. To his credit, he acknowledged that he had a large helping of crow on his plate.

Be very afraid...
September 12th, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
Let anyone hate. Unlike some of the examples you gave above, Denard is not self-promoting, entitled, egotistical, flashy, disrespectful, or with attitude. The guy is the best type of hero to have because he does everything right (at least to the public eye). We have the wonderful satisfaction of knowing we're right when we defend his character.

Coulda gone without the half naked Batman, but other than that..
September 12th, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
I second that notion. He toned it down, but you got the point. Someone will always be a debbie downer. I know differently and so their opinion means little to me.
this is my favorite one, i have seen.

All the sorry ass suckeye fans are really hating. Like.....that's all you guys got is him. Wait til he gets hurt. Shit like that. I can't stand it, like they have much room to talk. All they have is Pryor anyway. Take him out and they ain't winning shit. So much hatred. I know if we keep running him like that, it puts him at risk....hopefully he's just to fast to get a clean hit on. Fingers crossed!!!!!!
September 13th, 2010 at 7:39 AM ^
Take him out and they ain't winning shit.
Yeah, without that Pryor guy, tUOOS is screwed! They need a well rounded offense that spreads the production around, like UM has!
September 13th, 2010 at 7:58 AM ^
poster above is kind of crazy but UM does have a backup with 12 starts under his belt. I don't know if the bucks have anyone with any experience behind TP.
September 13th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
OSU has a good enough defense to keep them in just about any game, and enough talent at RB to effectively pound the ball for most of the game. In other words, I don't think Pryor going down would hurt them that much. Besides, I watched the OSU game late Saturday night and counted at least 3 passes that Pryor threw that should have been picked off and a couple more that could have been picked. I predict he will have at least one game this season in which he will single handedly lose the game for OSU dur to poor decision making. Their defense is good enough to keep them in any game, but they can't help at all on a pick six (unless they go all Woody on a player and deck him from the sideline).
September 12th, 2010 at 11:00 PM ^
he smiles way too much.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:01 PM ^
that are more cautious than they would be in years past. Consider me one of them.
Don't get me wrong, DRob has been an absolutely ridiculous one-man skill position show. After the past couple of years, however, I'm not ready to gulp down the 40 points/game Kool-Aid (which it may take to win some B10 games).
