Things I was told last night re: Ole Miss trio
I was told last night that Shea and Anderson will announce their commitments before they leave today, and that both are going to enroll in January. John Falk was at the hoops game and was giving all the recruits a tour of the locker room. One of the parents (not sure who) said they have never seen anything like the red carpet Michigan rolls out.
I asked about VJ as well. Was told that they did not have a great read on VJ like they did the other two. Also VJ had some friends and family visiting him from his Saint Mary's days, he was yucking it up with Bigs 2.0, and I thought he was having a great time and would be coming as well. I did talk directly to him and wished him well, I have not seen him since 2015 and he has grown and bulked up, he told me that his dad had Megatron visit the dolphins practice a few times this year, and that his father still keeps in touch with CJ as well as many other lions players and coaches. He also said he misses being in the D, and he was not sure if he was going to go on any more visits, but did admit many schools reaching out. One other thing that did happen during the game: Nico, DPJ, and Black rolled in late all together and I must admit they looked like 3 NFL players, also looked like great friends.
Lastly, in regards to Barrett and Patterson (OL). I did not see much of them, I think Barrett arrived late and was doing pictures and some catching up. Patterson I never saw, but I think he was with the coaches and at Schem Hall. All the attention was on Casear and the group of guys he was running around with that included Shea and others.
The vibe at Crisler and around lunch and dinner was awesome. They may all commit (5), but the coaches have been told for a fact that Anderson and Shea are in and enrolling early.
One last thing. The coaches, on JH orders are being very careful with the Ole Miss kids. When in doubt refer to compliance, and this may have something to do with why Shea and Anderson have not made it offical yet. Not saying that for sure, but they are all being extra careful. Yesterday, I saw 3x the coaches and staff huddle up to talk about something in regards to the recruits etc.

Don't know who Mathis is, but is he visiting? I kinda doubt it, and I'll not believe that until I see it elsewhere. Jermaine, OTOH, is connected to the program in some way, and has daily access to Schembechler Hall. He and umbig11 (and there's one other, but can't remember who right now) actually have close access.
If they're not talking about Mathis, Mathis (most likely) isn't happening.

Mathis is not visiting, AFAIK, but he was highly valued by Michigan's staff as a TE prospect. At one point a lot of Michigan people thought he would be coming to Ann Arbor.

that has gotten permission to contact other schools leaves and the NCAA quickly rules they don't need to sit out. Players that were waitng to see probably leave too and those that weren't thinking about it may reconsider.
Could either be an exodus or some players will step up and rally their teammates into staying.

I just googled him and read one of his pieces.
He said it makes little sense for Michigan to take Patterson if he can't play right away. I disagree. Michigan should take Shea no matter what. You get a chance at a QB like that, you take him.
It hurts Shea more if he can't play right away, but not Michigan.

but he was one of the first on Harbaugh to Michigan...

He's trying to parlay that into credibility about recruiting. That's where the consistent clicks come from. But it sure doesn't look like he has any great inside sources for recruiting.
Fwiw, I also had a good source for personnel moves. Not quite his level, but reliable. They offered zero info about recruiting.

He is essentially protecting himself from making a prediction that no one else is making...if MAthis comes, he will take the credit. IF he doesn't, then he will say he doubted it from the beginning. His credibility dies with the post Harbaugh predictions like Rosen coming to UM, etc...

How would this impact the number of scholarships available for this year? Would we be maxed out after getting as many as four transfers?
December 10th, 2017 at 8:24 AM ^
There are currently 16 commits, taking 4 today puts it at 20. The class was looking at 20-22 'ships total.
December 10th, 2017 at 8:25 AM ^
We're already maxed out for 2018, including just the commits for the 2018 class. Getting 4 transfers would put us at 89 scholarship guys scheduled to be on the roster in 2018. So we have to lose some people.

Didn't someone on Twitter post a screenshot of Shea Patterson's name in the campus directory yesterday morning? If that is indeed him and not someone who happens to share the name, that might serve as confirmation of at least one of these being essentially final. I searched a bit this morning and couldn't find where I saw it, but I swear I saw it.
December 10th, 2017 at 8:26 AM ^
You saw it, it existed. But it was in a group list. I don't know how UM student email is setup, but there are ways to add email addresses to group lists without the account actually existing. I wouldn't trust it...

Thats a group.
December 10th, 2017 at 8:34 AM ^
Oy vey.
That Shea Patterson is a GROUP, which I could create in the Umich directory. It was probably created by someone trying to troll all of us.
There are zero PEOPLE in the Umich directory named Shea Patterson.
