I agree with you. This typical take is silly: unless a recruit chooses the most prestigious school they get into, assuming that it is Michigan, then academics truly aren't important to them. There are many factors for these recruits. Their saying academics is important does not mean academics is the most important or the only factor. Hell, when I chose to go to Michigan, it wasn't the most academically prestigious school that I got into, but there were other factors in my consideration that led to my choice.
By the typical logic, if an admit gets into Stanford and UM and chooses UM, academics weren't really important to him. Hell, if he chooses UM over NU that arguments can also be made.

How did you surmise that OSU has low margins based on the chart? Their "profit" compared to their "revenue" is approximately two percentage points lower than UM's. Bama on the other hand has the same "revenue" as UM, but decidedly lower "profit."

Brian might want to be wary of running afoul of the State of Michigan's common law right of publicity or the tort of appropriation. As MGoBlog is not using Harbaugh's likeness on the banner in the context of reporting news, but rather commercially exploiting Harbaugh's pecuniary interest in his likeness. While this is not legal advice, you might want to consider changing the banner to avoid any potential legal ramifications arising from the unauthorized use of his likeness for commercial purposes.

He phoned the plays in to McElwain, who relayed them to Warriner, who wrote them down on a note card and had a runner walk them up to the booth to Pep. Pep subsequently called down to Harbaugh, who relayed them to the QB. That's why UM's clock management was so turrible. Just turrible.

That was actually a somewhat interesting watch. It's clear that neither Rob or Shannon has looked at any evaluations of the current team's roster. All they discussed was the past three years and tired old tropes. Provided no analysis of the offensive or defensive scheme. Shannon didn't even know who Notre Dame's QB is. Skip, who is usually atrocious, at least looked at UM's roster.

I like your content. Do you choose letterbox for cinematic effect or because there is some content (e.g., from Ty Rogers) for which you don't have the underlying source material? One of the problems with using letterbox when the content was shot in 16:9 is that heads are often cut off. Great videos nonetheless.

200-300 pairs per year assuming the pairs that go to friends of the program. There could be as many as 400-600 pairs of these exclusives out there. So that's 5.75% to as low as 3.83% of available pairs. It might be difficult to find the players, if any, that sold them, especially if any inscriptions/markers were removed.
UNC required their players to return their issued sneakers to the program and the players who could not produce their pairs were implicated. UM has had this Jordan contract for two full seasons. Current players could have gotten rid of their shows over that time without committing any impropriety, so the players might not be able to produce/return shoes that were issued two seasons ago.

Here is one of the three or so threads that I read prior to Zach Smith's firing. They were spreading rumors that the "scumbag" Ed W. ratted out Smith to the Columbus media. There was actually chatter, prior to the public reports of Zach Smith's restraining order, on several OSU boards (11W, Bucknuts, etc), that Ed was the source of the reports. They called Ed a "snitch" and said that he had bad blood with Zach, which led to Ed pushing the "stale" stories about Zach.

The coaches were apparently pushing hard for both. They both have really high upside. Ojabo is a little more raw at this point. He might be faster, but Fletcher is quite athletic himself. Ojabo has the potential to be larger and to slide inside. Fletcher appears to be more of a DE. They're both good talents.

|05/18/2018 - 4:26pm||Just an FYI, UM is opposed to||
Just an FYI, UM is opposed to those two bills as well. It's not a good look for MSU, but the legislation is problematic from the institutions' perspective for a number of reasons. Currently if a rogue UM/MSU employee (security guard for example) committed sexual assualt by threat of a weapon while at work, and the victim was under 18 and wanted to sue UM/MSU, the victim would have to file the claim in the MI Court of Claims and comply with the filing rules of the applicable statute (i.e., within 1 year after the claim accrued and the claim would be time barred unless instituted within 3 years after the claim accrues).
Under the proposed new statute, this victim could sue UM/MSU for their employee's conduct at anytime (even 50 years later). You can see why most public institutions would be opposed to this legislation. It's still asinine to include it in the settlement agreement from a PR perspective.

Add the stats of the year immediate preceding and the year immediately following the years that Pep was there. These QBs (outside of Luck and maybe Hogan) were still shitty. In several instances they were more shitty the year before and after Pep left: Smith, Greise and a few others. So this doesn't show much. Do you think if Steve Kerr went to the Lakers they would be good? Hell, we already have that experiment. Luke Walton was the best coach (record-wise) the year he sat in for an injured Kerr. Walton ended up coaching the all-star game. His record has been shit at the Lakers. Is he a bad coach or does he have bad players?

Barnhart is definitely a take and will likely be committing to UM this week. He doesn't play great talent but he's a basketball player and former TE that outgrew the position. He's preformed well at the camps he's attended so far and if he continues to be solid at these camps will get a bump in the rankings. We'll likely be kicking ourselves if he ends up at MSU.

Snyder isn't doing much if anything to remove the board members. I'm sure he's aware and may be concerned with the optics of removing them. Snyder has his bachelor's (general studies - I know a fake degree according to MSU fans), MBA and law degree all from UM. That may contribute to his hesitance to remove the entire MSU board. Under the Michigan constitution, however, he has the right to remove them in addition to the statutory authority to do so.

I didn't have a positive or negative opinion of Pep last year. I thought consistency would be good for the offense if he stayed, but also wouldn't have been disappointed if he left. What I don't get is the certainty that he's a bad coach. How does anyone outside of Schembechler Hall know how much blame should be apportioned to him. The execution was decidedly poor. That could be primarily caused by the coaching, playcalling or QB talent. It's difficult to tell. I hope the offense improves and (assuming Shea is eligible) the QB talent should be there. Additionally, the O line should take a step forward.

|04/08/2018 - 12:07pm||Some of these hot takes are crazy. Do you see how||
Some of these hot takes are crazy. Do you see how many people are in the booth with the offensive coordinator? Using a collective approach to calling plays is used in many organizations both pro and college alike. Just because you didn't like the outcome on the field doesn't mean you have any sense for what works from a play calling standpoint. This is the method Harbaugh used all the way back to San Diego. It's worked well in the past. If there was a sole OC, he would be soliciting input from his offensive assistants.
Also, why the hell would UM football or Amazon care enough to rehab Pep's perception, but not Drevno's? This is one of the worst takes. Harbaugh is so concerned about what the public thinks of his passing game coordinator that he hired a video crew to record the whole season and make the PGC look better to the public. How does that even makes any sense?
|04/08/2018 - 10:12am||How do you know that was Pep though. Pep didn't||
How do you know that was Pep though. Pep didn't want to go with the play where McKeon fumbled the snap and expressed that to Harbaugh. Harbaugh opted to proceed anyway, which resulted in a fumble. Sometimes a player (O'Korn) is maxed out talent-wise.
You can't always blame the coaches for everything. Did you see how giddy Pep and the other coaches in the booth got against OSU when they called a perfect play on UM's last possession and O'Korn just blew it. The safety was exactly where he needed to be. That play call leads to a TD with a competent QB.
