in football. It actually makes me kinda sad because our game against them is so high profile and it thus kinda reflects on us too.

Grey combined with a "scarlet" that's really just bright red isn't very good. It's a weak contrast and the grey plays against the red's pop so the red actually manages to get pushed to the back so to speak even though it's the actual color of note in the scheme. So they're the "Red" team but it's not like Wisconsin or Nebraska where the red/white contrast is very classic/cliched but works.

So the emphasis goes to grey which is like pretty sad..it's a grey day, the clouds are grey, the grey of the old city. Grey evokes negative ideas, it goes hand in hand with the other gr-word "grim".

As a result they will on occasion just turn it into a silver..or add white or black to it. But these are all still really bad combinations that don't really change it because you gotta have that grey in there somehow.

Their band looks like a paramilitary force in a 3rd rate totalitarian country because of all the black and grey coupled with little red accents (symbolize the blood of the workers? the blood of their race? who knows).

It's this fundamental flaw that makes them so open to these alternate uniforms. If you got a crappy look, you may as well play around with it. And of course their alternate looks almost as a rule go into the sci-fi movie attack squad direction emphasizing grey and black because I guess that's where the mind of a designer naturally goes when confronted with their color scheme.

I hate like shit to agree with this guy bc I live in columbus, but he is right. Name me ONE other team in FBS who has Silver or gray as a primary school color and consistently competes for a playoff spot. OSU owns the color “gray” or “silver” and it isn’t even close. As such, any iteration of a jersey in said color will always be received well because, well, frankly, they own it.

pretty well for alternates, I think.  Their helmet is pretty basic, so making changes to it is a nice dress up.  Also, their colors make it so black can be incorporated and still somewhat make sense.

As much tradition as there is in the MIchigan uniform, and not really wanting to make changes anyway, I don't think there are a lot of options for Michigan alternates.

I want to beat them more than I want to breathe sometimes. I have this horrible feeling this game will look an awful lot like the 2015 game, hope I am wrong. They still have everything to play for, and Meyer will have them juiced.

Yeah, we don't match up well.

To win, we will need some out-of-body experience that is "not us", like MSU does with us, or PSU does with OSU in White Outs, or Iowa does at Kinnick.

We are not going to just beat them straight up without some kind of "Where did that come from?" play that only ever shows up once a season.

I know it doesn't make a lot of sense but I'd rather have them having everything to play for versus having "beating michigan" as their whole season. In the former there is a small chance they are saying "if we beat michigan", which means they might be looking ahead. In the latter all they have is "beat michigan".

Look at Meyer's record after his team loses games they should't/are embarassed...it's damn near flawless. He already took MSU to the woodshed, illinois will have train run on them for 60 minutes this saturday. He will do everything he can to hang 50+ on every team they play from here on out, better believe that.

If our D can get to JT and just SLOW DOWN dobbins and weber, we have a chance. Easier said than done.

Basically, Gene Smith is a richer man's Dave Brandon.  He had the good sense to hire an elite football coach who fell into his lap but otherwise has the same obsession with commercializing and profiting from everything.

I’m just hoping for an alternate ending this year as compared to recent years. Definitely possible but will be tough as OSU is definitely good and we’re dinged up.

I hate this every time they do it. The Game doesn't need alternate uniforms and gimmicks, it's already good by itself. The classic look of the two normal uniforms going head to head is timeless.

Will barely recognize them out there. Not sure what's wrong with their traditional aways. We just need to win. These next two weeks are critical for the program.

When I look at these uniforms, all I can think of is that moment in the Curb Seinfeld reunion.

Icon! Icon! Icon! No-con!

No one asked for this. No one likes this. All we want is this:

How do we get this?

Of Ohio's alternates is getting rather diluted and tiresome. If they want to wear them for their ass whoopin in A.A then thats fine by me. Urbs is probably a little nervous after last year.

I hope one year both schools can petition the NCAA to each wear their home jerseys during a game. USC and UCLA do it, so there’s at least a precedent for it. I think it’d look really cool, and it’s not like both teams use similar colors.

I just don’t care anymore. Same shit every year. Michigan will not win this game as long as Urban is head coach. Better start a Go Fund Me to plant a dead girl or live boy in Urban’s house.

I hate to say it but this is pretty much how I feel. I used to be one of those "they won't beat us THIS year!" type of guys, and then it was loss, after loss, after loss, after loss, after loss, after loss, etc. Now I'm a realist and some guys are still going "they won't beat us THIS year!" They just can't accept the reality. I have adopted the "if you don't have any expectations, then you can't be disappointed" mantra. Obviously I am hopeful for a win, but I am expecting a loss.

Why would you go for a "Land of Wolves" alternate when you're the Buckeyes?  Is Ohio known for its wolf population?  Currently, no wolves are known to reside in Ohio...so...is this some weird sidelong slap at Wolverines?  Who knows.

OSU looked awful in their gray uniforms, black helmets with red Buckeye leaves(????) and ruby slippers, but that is their choice. Our team will look great in the traditional maize and blue - we will be channeling our inner Charles Woodson. GoBlue!!

I don’t understand their fascination with LeBron and vice versa. Big deal u grew up in Ohio, you’re also a well documented yankee and cowboy fan, and if I remember correctly, was also a supporter of UK hoops and Calipari. Like the dude is not an o$u alum, get off his dick. Pretty soon they’re gonna have little crying LBJ faces instead of buckeyes on the helmets. Fck him anyway, focus on being the player, coach and GM of the Cavs and go sign more over the hill wing players who can’t play D anymore. Yikes that turned into an LBJ rant quick lol. Anyways, go blue and Fck o$u

OSU wants to take some of the attention away from UM due to the game being played in AA, and put it on them. It's a good strategy from a PR standpoint. I hope UM, however, sees it as disrespectful, and plays out of their mind as a result.
