Flying to Houston on Sunday was smooth, but the return was delayed 2.5 hours and we almost had to divert to Tampa due to Tuesday’s storms. A little inconvenient but not too bad.
Our only knock on Houston was that there was nowhere to go around the stadium after the game. We ended up walking a mile to the only “sports bar” still open called Carrington’s. The walk was through construction and the sidewalks were flooded from all the rain. We made it there and the “sports bar” turned out to be a hookah bar/night club with one bartender. The vibes weren’t great.
We bailed quickly and went across the street to get chicken from a food truck and gas station beers. The food took about 40 minutes but there were plenty of UM and UW fans around to chat with.
We finally got the chicken and went back to the hotel. There we found they kept the bar open late and we got to celebrate and had a great time til they finally shut it down.
NRG stadium is great venue in and of itself, but it was so far from anything else good. All the adventures still added to the already memorable evening
Any gripes about the pass D should take into account the man games lost to injury so far. It’s been the hardest hit group by far. Once they get those reps and build chemistry it will be fine.
I agree. The non-conference games have been approaching unwatchable, with last nights being the worst in that sense.
There were commercials at every change of possession, time-out, end of quarter etc. Even the shorter 30sec breaks popped off to an ad. It killed the any cohesion in the game, and didn’t give the broadcasters a chance to give much meaningful insight or narrative. It was a struggle to stay engaged.
I ever thought I’d ask but is college football becoming boring?
My version of the video game challenge goes like this:
NHL ‘94 (Sega Genesis Version): Try to win the Stanley cup tournament with the following settings:
10 minute periods
penalties on
auto line changes
no juggling lines late game (explained below)
goalie always pulled
It’s basically trying to score more goals that the opponents SOGs. I’ve tried as the Red Wings and Leafs. The first round is usually survivable and sometimes the second.
The main challenge is holding a lead in the 3rd bc the AI will put the CHK (checking) line out there as much as possible and those guys are slow and somehow bad at checking. I have to keep the top lines filled with guys like Yzerman, Federov, Cicarelli, Ysebaert etc to get a lead but that leaves relative scrubs to hold it.
Anyways I’ve yet to complete this challenge. Usually it goes until I run into Chicago or the Pens and JR, Chelios and Steve Larmer or Mario, Stevens and Jagr are too much to overcome. Buffalo is a tough out too with Mogilny, Lafontaine and Grant Fuhr in net.
All this typing though seems like it’s time to dust it off and try again.
That’s a tough roughing the passer call in the UF-LSU game. UF had the int and would have had 5+ minutes to drive and try to tie. Instead LSU looks like they’re gonna run it out.
I am probably in the minority here, but I’d rather see the kids out there and get a few runs to get his confidence back. It doesn’t have to be in critical situations but let him get himself back into the game action
This will be our third during our time in Orlando. Matthew (2016) stayed just out to sea but still walloped the Atlantic coast pretty hard still. Irma in (2017) did lots of damage on its way up the state.
We have taken our normal precautions, but on the whole those who have been in Central Florida for awhile now aren’t too worried. As others have said in should be Cat 1 or TS. The sheer amount of rain is concerning at 12-15 or more inches.
definitely thinking of our neighbors on the gulf coast though. This thing hitting as a Cat 3 or 4 will be a rough ride.
I don’t think there is any doubt what they said. The question is, what video angle gives the evidence beyond any doubt to prove that’s the case and overturn the call?
None of the angles Fox aired had the ball visible at the point his shin touched. Still frames since then actually show the ball is loose when the shin is down.
So the question remains, what evidence did the booth use to overturn the call?
This sport will continue to get bumps and bruises in critical moments like this one until the process adds accountability after the fact - and for all players, coaches, and fans involved i don’t think that’s asking too much.
Accountability brings improvement and that should be something all parties want.
This wasn’t a random loss where they played well but got outplayed by a future Heisman winner in Baker Mayfield or a bad weather + Neanderthal play calling by Urban loss to Sparty.

We just landed at IAH 30 minutes ago and I’d say 50:1 UM fans at baggage claim and waiting for Ubers. Gonna be a great time!

Success! I was able to get a copy for you. What is a good way to contact?
I’ll be traveling back to FL through DTW later today. If they have any copies I’ll grab a couple and we can figure it out from there
Great game, but wow what a way to lose the under

I don’t agree with any of the penalty calls in BU there.
1. First tripping, the BU player was tripped first and only tripped the Minnesota player bc he was tripped
2. Second tripping. Ticky tack and embellishment. You don’t get that call already on the PP
3. Not charging,
He would still be a top 10-15 pick though. Dropping below Levis would not mean a huge hit for his paycheck
Bakich should have been fired before he left anyways.
or so we thought….

I was thinking shouldn’t Robbins be at 12? His services were not required vs Penn St. :)
Then I remembered he’s the holder for Moody.
The future considerations portion of the Rudock deal are now complete
I would go into the menu and pull my goalie right after the opening face off

JJ put a lot of balls on the receivers hands. There were many drops today
Taulia is out for the season I think?
FG+FG…
For Iowa is that?

No chart!?!?

Stay safe all!
Is it really an anomaly?
Is it time for Draftageddon now?
<ducks>
Hockey regionals are dumb
Four Roses small batch here. So good especially when it’s a blend that has a little more rye notes in it.
Jourdan Lewis, Jabrill Peppers and Alan Branch too
That’s going to be a N00N kickoff?
You sure their loss to Bama was an accident?

I had it muted for most of the second half.
There goes the rushing Rutger
I love me some commercials… I’m sure it will be kickoff then another one
Yes. It was fine to lock it, but the description was over the top and can have the opposite effect than what the mod intended.
*brady hoke clapping gif*
I can think of one as bad c. 2016
Chillin in the pool, flipping between games with a margarita after a convincing road win. Perfection
Agreed. The delta in field position is a fair trade for a coin flip chance at getting the ball back at the edge of Moody’s FG range
Jake had a nice power draw today. Right down the middle of the fairway just like we dream of.
BGSU up 7-3 over Minne… just starting the 3rd quarter. That’s surprising
Did I miss something about Rutger this year? That line seems low to me
We won with a passing Rutger this week. Little to complain about overall!
A passing Rutger is definitely in play today. Keep it up defense!
Could this be the new “Marcus Hall Epic Double Bird” for the weekly negative play of the week?

they flat out got beat today and it was glorious.
Yeah especially if there were a fumble. Those 40 seconds would be crucial

If Oregon’s QB was short, then so was JT Barrett
He didn’t do it as many times as we would have liked due to the sieve-like OL in front of him, but Devin Gardner could
Raise your hand if you had the first points of the 2021 Big Ten season coming on a safety?
vegas would have paid 15000:1 on that?
