He was always my favorite wrestler.  It is no wonder so many of these guys die young.  It has to be a hard life even though you end up with some great stories.  I find it interesting how a lot of people I would probably characterize as flawed end up being the ones I find most intriguing.

"glitz" of the Nature Boy personna and celebrating his in-ring / professional accomplishments while also showing a balanced view of how that impacted his personal life. I wish they had devoted some more time to his and Triple H's relationship, because that seemed to be a great example of somebody taking the good and bad from Flair's life and learning how to be a better person as a result.

If that horseshit is sports there should be a 30 for 30 on Ozzy. Biting of the heads of live chickens or bats is more real than the shit Rick Flair did (or says).

Not my hero...lots of embellishment by him and I didn't sense much regret over his past.  My opinion of him went down after reading this article.

15 drinks a day is a little impressive, but really it's less than 1 drink per hour you are awake (assuming 8 hours of sleep a night).

and considering he is 68, 10,000 women is around 0.5-0.8 women per day (less than 0.5 if you count the ages 0-14, higher than 0.8 if you start counting after age 20).

Color me unimpressed

Watched the 30for30 last night about him and pretty crazy life style. The guy was on the road traveling from 79-99....no wander he drank 15 drinks a day and slept with so many women.

All those celebs claim they slept with thousands of women. Didn't that guitarist from KISS say like 15,000? I could see maybe a thousand or two in a lifetime but comeon. Then you have to take the quality of these women and think about what they are actually bragging about. We all know these guys are full of shit and egotistic dips right?

Who even knew Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat was still alive?!?!

I saw Flair at the Indy 500 this year - he was nice enough to take a pic with me and I got a "Go Blue" out of him. Woooooooooooo!

The whole thing about being adopted and then your adopted parents always treating you like you were vulgar filth and never respecting your accomplishments or giving you any credit for anything, and then you find adoration and respect from this strange carny business full of insane people....I mean it's pretty easy to see how he turned out how he did.

He also clearly has a ton of issues with the fact that he lived that lifestyle for so many years and is still alive and his son, who was so much like him, died in his early 20s. It was a very sad thing to me.

its Interesting that his parents who were in theatre couldn’t understand that wrestling is theatre also and ric was great at it. Unfortunately like triple h said, ric flair took over and he never really took the time to know ric fleihr. I’m sure his parents were dissapointed in ric, because with all the fame and wealth he had, he was a complete wreck of a person. I admire ric for what he did in the business, but it is ultimately a sad story. How ric is still alive is a miracle and I think he knows it.

I’ve always liked ric flair, and the 30 for 30 was good, except for the interviewer. He was not great. But man, what an exciting yet ultimately sad life he has lead. Happy that he has rekindled relationships with family and you could tell how proud he is of his daughter, but his demons have controlled him for most of his life.

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair is the greatest warrior poet of the post modern era.  In the live theater troupes in which has been a part, Flair generally played the large than life, braggadocious lead antagonist.  Yet, much of the audience cheered his boasts and skullduggery.  While his most famous contemporary was telling children to say their prayers, train hard and eat their vitamins, the Nature Boy was telling the ladies of the crowd to ride Space Mountain (fornicate with him) and to bask in awe at his life of unrestained excess, wealth and power.  Turns out the man liked the character so much, he tried his best to live the gimmick.

As for his 10,000 woman boast, it is a gross exaggeration.  The man pretty much admits that he was not particularly good at math.  However, for most of his 40+ year career, he was performing 300+ shows a year across the country.  With his celebrity, charisma, alcoholism and fear of being alone, his number of sexual partners most likely is absurdly high.  It was probably Mötley Crüe level high.  While we can debate how good or bad that is, the look in his eyes and smile on his face showed he wishes he could still get after it like he did in the '80s.

Honestly, watching this documentary, I don't know how you come away from it thinking "hero."

Shitty father. Awful husband. Vapid human. Gave his entire life for a "world championship" in a fake, choreographed "sport."

He's a genius at his craft, he was one of the largest personalities of the 1980s, and an incredible showman. But "hero"? Nope.

Considering how often pro wrestlers are on the road (300 + days a year out of 365) I totally believe it. To be quite honest, I'm surprised the man is even still alive. The wrestling industry is known to take lives early. Countless guys die in their 40's and 50's which is relatively young because they abuse drugs and alcohol. I don't think Flair is on record as having done drugs but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. If you want to hear a funny Ric Flair story google "Plane Ride from Hell." Long story short, WWE was coming back from an international trip and Flair got boozed up, somehow ended up naked, and was going around the plane and going "WOOOOOOOOOOO!" in everybody's face. It's probably a safe bet that Vince McMahon hasn't had an open bar on a flight since then.
