Penalty Yards: Michigan-85 Minnesota-10

Submitted by Maizen on

Is it too much to ask to watch one Michigan game where the refs aren't totally incompetent or out to get us? Even guys like Jake Long and Grant Newsome went to twitter to complain about the refs. There's clearly an anti Harbaugh bias so thank god we have superior talent to Minnesota and I realize this is probably low on the list of concerns given tonight's drubbing but I'm totally expecting the B1G to shaft us in Madison in two weeks. Just disheartening.

I was dumbfounded by both the Metellus ejection and also by the announcers persistent opinion that Kinnel had done something terrible by lightly pushing a guy away from the pile. The PI on Kinnel I thought was a little ticky-tack but most of the other calls were fine.

The block below the waste on a pulling center hitting a lb in the thighs was horrible. So was the illegal man down field. They did not show replays of Gary's penelty or the holds on the punt returns, so not sure about those. To me there were a lot of bad/blown calls but it actually was not as bad as some games this year.

Block below waste was at hips/belt line

Illegal man down field was after catch basically and had nothing to do with play

Mint player landed two punches after ripping Dwunfur’s head nearly off

No holding penalties when they were visible all game and called other way

Kick off return hold behind the play called yet tackle by face mask not

That was a game the refs will want back and we may have won 50+ points not for them. We still need to be cleaner/smarter for sure but c’mon.

I have no clue why the refs felt like they needed to even that up and I can't imagine it's called the same way if we were the instigator

I continue to be amazed that we're going on like 2 years without a holding call being called on the opposing O-line. Incredible that they're all playing the games of their lives every time they play our defense.

certainly take your word for it.   Too many, and its a troubling disparity at several levels.  Did not like the Metellus ejection or think warranted, though he probably should not have got involved.

Clearly a bias exists but we are also a young team making many dumb mistakes. Next year we are going to be an excellent team as long as we let Peters learn to throw the ball more than 6 times per game.

Please fucking explain to me how guys like Gary, Hurst, Winovich, etc.  are never held according to the officials doing our games? I am waiting for an explanation that isn't they are choosing not to call it

Compile a video that clearly demonstrates the point and post it.

I agree with the OP though. I haven’t felt this upset after a Michigan blowout win since, well ever.

Michigan haters will just assume for every missed Minnesota hold, there was at least one missed Michigan hold.

False starts on the other hand are objective. I kept rewinding my DVR and seeing an OL moving before the ball was snapped. That was some no call garbage.

You guys need to do something in The Game though. Seriously!!! Bring tomatoes in your winter coats and let them have it when they run in the tunnel at halftime. If they are going cost these kids and coaches another loss, fuck em. They can get bent and get drilled by tomatoes I say. This team works way to hard for this bullshit. Security cant remove the entire crowd from the stadium.

The ticky tack shit was not called both ways. Blatant face mask that even the announcers were baffled with the call going against Michigan. Did not realize this was the osu crew. They should have at least got the nc state treatment. Most americans have a sense of fair play and will only be pushed so far.

It's so bad, and it boggles my mind that this is even allowed to happen.

The last two seasons have seen the B1G representative in the playoffs get handed their games against Michigan by the refs. Not only did either team look like they belonged there at all, but they got comically blown the fuck out and embarrassed the conference.

It's beginning to look like the B1G won't even have a team in the playoffs this year. Oh no, how upsetting. Perhaps Delaney and his stooges in stripes will be saved another embarrassment.

If Rashan Gary was put in a chokehold and tripped by 3 OL, the refs would likely flag Gary for a personal foul when his helmet grazed the three guys gang-tackling him

They missed targeting on Higdon at the end of a long first qtr run and Crawford after a catch and a clear clear hold on Glaskow before the punt that they ended up calling a hold in Michigan after the punt.

I was one who didn't really think the refs could consciously be against Michigan but it's obvious they are. It's out of hand.

The hold on the DPJ punt return that pinned us back around the 10 - it looked like DPJ got his face mask ripped.  Flag is for the hold and Fox doesn't even show the replay to see if there was or wasn't a facemask.

They did not show a replay of the actual hold either. The hold happened around the 16 according to the spot. Although, the replay started after like the penelty was at the end of the play. They also never showed a replay of the 2 other holds on the return or the Gary hands to the face. However, the penelties they did replay where all bs shit that is not called against anyone.
