I know it’s unlikely, but…

I know it’s unlikely, but the BIG needs to ask ND what it would take for them to join. If that means adding USC, Navy, whoever, you try your best to get it done.

another option would be to get the PAC, BIG12, ACC together and merge to make an ncaa-lite. Cut the SEC out.

Do I think Michigan bends…

Do I think Michigan bends rules? Absolutely. Do I think Michigan follows more rules than the majority of the top programs in D1 college football? Absolutely. Until that changes, this will be the norm (losing players, not signing top classes year over year, and not gaining transfers due to credits). So is life. BPONE.

I declare bankruptcy!

I declare bankruptcy!

We aren’t ADIDAS anymore

I wish I could resign from Michigan football.

What they’ve done up to this…

What they’ve done up to this point makes little sense to me. However, I’ve paid attention to the Pistons more in the last week than the last decade combined so that’s something. I’m willing to see what Weaver does through free agency, but so far I’m a little puzzled.

As Wisconsin fans freak out…

As Wisconsin fans freak out who will be the starting QB over the next few games, a shadow emerges. It’s Joe Stocco. Well, maybe it’s Jim Sorgi. No one can tell the difference. Back for their 14th year.

Just to clarify your point…

Just to clarify your point. The average college student starts their career -$30,000 while players start at $0.

I don’t disagree with your…

Surprised they didn’t cut more to be honest.

The BIG has led with a TV…

The BIG has led with a TV network, conference expansion, conference-only schedule this year. The media can pretend the SEC and ACC will still play, but everyone will follow the BIG like usual (for better or for worse).

It was widely known he…

It was widely known he wanted to go to a school that offered really good player motor vehicle lease deals.

I can't stress this enough…

I can't stress this enough. Fuck ND. Do not bend the knee to them. Even if they beg, do not let them play any BIG teams.

The Silverdome was trash…

The Silverdome was trash. Everything about it was deplorable. However, I'll never make such amazing memories with my dad and uncles again as I did in that giant parking lot of drunks. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

WD - you sold your MSU bball…

WD - you sold your MSU bball tickets. You are just as guilty!

The refs were one-sided and…

The refs were one-sided and it was bullshit. With that being said,

1) We should have made a -15 yard tackle on 3rd down and

2) M needs to eventually move on and beat them. It sucks, the players were probably cheated, but the focus needs to be current/future.

There are two things that…

There are two things that give me pause:

1) The precedent over the years has usually been you need to be close to .500 in conference play. I'm not sure 8-12 would get us in.

2) Would the committee really put 10+ BIG teams in? I'm not buying it (even if the metrics say that is what should happen).

Michigan usually gets…

Michigan usually gets trashed a lot more in this yearly piece. Maybe Dudek isn't as bad as I think? Nope, still a weirdo.

Michigan took Kurt Taylor…

Michigan took Kurt Taylor and O’Maury Samuels while also telling AJ Dillion to play LB and slow playing Eno Benjamin. This sums up what being a Michigan football fan has been like the last 10-15 years.

Not a superstar athlete, but…

Not a superstar athlete, but he has the looks of a really good college player (not a 1 and done). I hope M can get him since Todd is up in the air and there are several open slots for the class.

If not knowing about the…

If not knowing about the MGoBlog basketball recruiting writer or the writer who runs a comprehensive basketball website dedicated to Michigan hoops then I don't know what to tell you. Those seem like pretty good reasons that showcase a portion of the blog's lack of understanding when it comes to Michigan basketball.

I would stay stick to football if you don't want to follow some of the M basketball writers but you actually picked MSU to beat OSU last weekend. Not sure you follow the right football people either.

Not knowing about umhoops,…

Not knowing about umhoops, matt d, 5 star visitors to name a few. In addition, the amount of Duke, UNC, KU, UK cheating references get a bit old too.

It amazes me how few people…

It amazes me how few posters at MGoBlog actually follow college basketball/college basketball recruiting. I understand Michigan has historically been a football school and JB wasn't involved in with many elite basketball recruits, but the comments in basketball recruiting threads compared to football recruiting threads is often laughable.

Simply following Matt & Dylan will help the fan base tremendously when "top" lists are released.

You need DL & LB talent to…

You need DL & LB talent to run what MSU runs.

Regarding Kessler. Sam is…

Regarding Kessler. Sam is always plugging the "Michigan is seriously in this" or "it is not over yet".

I'm shocked Sam Webb is…

I'm shocked Sam Webb is blowing sunshine while all the evidence points the opposite direction.

The Cincinnati game will…

The Cincinnati game will tell us a lot more about OSU. I think Cincy will come prepared (coached by Fickell) with an edge (many Ohio players who were passed over by OSU). Should be a good game. The spread is ~16.

I hate Michigan State so…

I hate Michigan State so much. Fuck Dantonio. He's going to Tony Mandarich the offensive line until each player explodes.

I'm curious how this will…

I'm curious how this will change QB recruiting (if at all). I'm assuming Michigan will continue to go after the best QBs they can while also signing lower ranked "project" QBs with high upside. Hopefully, those "project" recruits plan to stay 2-3 years before transferring.

Otis Reese and Emil E. were…

Otis Reese and Emil E. were two recruits that would have played as freshmen here.

Just wait until Aubrey…

Just wait until Aubrey Solomon's gets denied. Then again, his will be granted. SEC, baby!

I meant a lot of help if M…

I meant a lot of help if M is going to be BIG champs/CFP bound. OSU was around top 25 in defense last year so top 20 is probably good enough to win the conference. OSU was also #4 offensively (SP+). I'm not sure I'm ready to say M's offense will get there yet.

Brian is usually pretty fair…

Brian is usually pretty fair (maybe even pessimistic) about Michigan football. Thinking the offense will finish top 5 SP+ seems crazy to me. Hope I'm wrong because the defense will need a lot of help.

After reading this there are…

After reading this there are two hopes:

1) We become Oklahoma and the offense carries us to victories with the defense doing just enough.

2) Don Brown is forced to blitz more/scheme as if he was back at BC (players who were often outmatched).

I think OSU could be over…

I think OSU could be over hyped. They clearly have the most talent in the BIG. Their biggest question mark is the most important position in football. Hopefully Fields stinks!

I think Michigan is also over hyped. I just don't see how the team could be favored in every single game with so many question marks on the defense.

Interesting take about…

Interesting take about Michigan "outside of the OSU game". Michigan has met every expectation in those games for the most part. As much as we have bitched and moaned (including myself) about Harbaugh/M's failures in the OSU game, it is interesting to see other coaches recognize Harbaugh's Michigan vs. previous Michigan teams.

Athlon Comment: "You have to look at the progress outside of those Ohio State games. They’ve built really well and they’re in position to keep it going."

I think it is more "If I don…

I think it is more "If I don't get into Stanford I need to have a backup plan (i.e., Michigan)".

Is be curious to get a cliff…

I’d be curious to get a cliff note version as a CC alum. I always thought Coach Mach was stubborn about his system and that didn’t always translate well with potential D1 guys that may have otherwise ended up at CC.

There is the story of Drew Henson’s dad saying Drew would come to CC if Mach tailored the offense to Drew (way more passing). Mach told him to piss off and Drew stayed at Brighton.

Hope he drops bags like the…

Hope he drops bags like the Mike Miller currently at Memphis.

I would start with "largely…

I would start with "largely irrelevant" part. If your definition of irrelevant is based on championships then yes, Michigan is irrelevant. So are a lot of big time/blue blood programs then. I'm tired of the talk radio bits "National title or fire Harbaugh", "He makes X amount of money he needs to win", etc.

I understand your frustrations and I am by no means a sunshine blower. I have been vocal about my disappointments over the last several years. Michigan has had legitimate chances to win the division around 4 times since 2012. They haven't closed and OSU has owned them. Ticket sales, TV ratings, etc. don't point to "largely irrelevant".

Thank you, Mike Valenti.

Thank you, Mike Valenti.

Serious question...does it…

Serious question...does it matter? They will either beat us again or won't. Talking crap may help motivate a little but OSU will be motivated no matter what.

Devin Bush's actions at MSU last year should have fired up MSU and Dantonio so much (errrr 94 yards). Talk is cheap but it makes the games/rivalries fun and adds to them. Why do we have to do this routine where we can't enjoy college sports until we "prove it on the field first"? If that is the case, Alabama and Clemson should be the only fans enjoying college football.

It’s going to be Juwan. If this goes past Monday, it is pure incompetence.

Is he an actual OT prospect…

Is he an actual OT prospect or more of a college guard (but high school OT)? I haven’t followed recruiting as closely the last couple cycles.

It will be interesting to…

It will be interesting to compare the fan reactions when we lose to Army vs. when we hire a terrible basketball coach. Michigan sports!

Hire Juwan. Keep the…

Hire Juwan. Keep the assistants. Bring in Jaden McDaniels. Call it a day.

I hate to be "that guy" but…

I hate to be "that guy" but it doesn't matter is we win national championships in every non-revenue sport year in year out. If Warde screws up men's basketball and football his tenure will be a failure. We all know what sports pay the bills for the UM AD.

That is a fair point. Those…

That is a fair point. Those 3 coaches are also recruiting (and fighting negative recruiting), trying to potentially get 5th year transfers, etc. I don't think it is normal for NBA coaches to comment. Most are probably on vacation now.

I'm starting to think it…

I'm starting to think it will be Donovan or Juwan. Money should not be an issue. JB was going to be making 3.5-4 million/per year. Paying someone 4.5-5.5 per year should not deter Warde or UofM. That difference is negligible.

It would be a good point if…

It would be a good point if OKC was still playing. Who is interviewing Donovan now? How many NBA coaches are interviewed weeks after their season ends? I doubt Donovan calls up media members just to state he has no interest.

Just wait until Jim and Jack…

Just wait until Jim and Jack Harbaugh demand Tom Crean.
