Malik "Top 10 ain't good enough for me" McDowell falls out of the first round
I'm sure many of you remember this quote:
"Top 10 ain’t good enough for me, I ain’t leaving if I’m (only) Top 10. If I’m not top three, I don’t leave."
Pride comes before the fall.
Mmmmm. . . humble pie.
kids like this, they're blaming someone else. IIRC, I think he was critical of MSU and their lack of development during his interviews.
Saw them at Royal Oak in the early 80s

3-9 days in the hole ...
Ah, I see what you did there.
I wouldn't go quite that far, but it is probably a good description on him reaching his actual potential.
At times he looked unblockable; however, this year he just looked like another moron wearing very dark cyan green, getting blocked, and breaking the rules in an attempt not to get blocked.
He's gonna get taken next round I would think, but your character and habits are built over time, not in one day of pro camp. He wanted "no go to class, hot chicks, no accountability, and special treatment." He's finally paying his tuition bill.
He's more of a couch fire, no?
I don't want to shit on the kid dropping in the draft, but you have to at least pretend you enjoy playing the game from time to time if you expect to be seen as a high potential professional.
We, as Michigan fans, are better than that.
We just had TWO guys drafted in the first round.
That's what we should be focusing on. Not MSU.
I think you could use a good laugh. Read this and try to stop from smiling:

Unintentional comedy:
This guy epitomizes Spartan and the program Coach D has built.
Indeed.
I mean, "spartan" can be an adjective, but I don't think it should be capitalized in that case.
lol. His skill set and knowledge of the game is rather spartan

were pure gold!! The very first comment stating if MM returned what a special defense they would have in 2017 just made me read more comments and smile from ear to ear!

That thread is gold, Jerry. Gold.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:51 AM ^
That thread should be enshrined somewhere as the absolute epitome of delusional fandom.
Spartans gushing over his high character and status as an exemplary student-athlete in a program that is stacked with them..... just... wow.
The irony of the several posts espousing how he is so indicative of the kind of program that Dantoni has built is downright delicious and given everything that has been exposed about how terrible and toxic the environment has been, completely ludicrous in how absolutely off base they are from reality.
A small part of me wants to hunt around on that board to see how they are managing to excuse the three different sexual assault investigations going on, but my faith in humanity as taken a massive beating as of late, so I will just have to take a pass.
The three threads on Peppers plus one on Charlton suggest that the board is also focusing on Michigan players in the draft.

Now it's time to continue by laughing at MSU again as their best player from last year "Top 10 ain't good enough for me" is apparently such an uncoachable, arrogant windbag that he dropped out of the first round entirely
After the decade of crap that program gave America, I am thoroughly enjoying every second of their steady demise

Missed a lot of playing time this season, making it more difficult to evaluate his talent. Speaking of which, he was talented and that could have been better developed at Michigan.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:45 AM ^
I am not sure he left or was thrown out, but I am not sad he is still undrafted.
He's laying in the weeds
A la Pedro Cerrano.
He just meant top 3 of round 3
I feel kind of bad for his mother. She saw that MSU wasn't a good fit from a mile away, but her kid -- who had all the potential in the world with not enough discipline -- didn't listen.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:06 AM ^
so MSU did enough to keep him on an NFL track.
But I wonder with his attitude how hard he'll work in the NFL? will he stay out of trouble? will he save his money?
Some early tough love by Michigan & Harbaugh could have paid dividends 40 yrs down the road.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:11 AM ^
He shouldn't be surprised. He's been described as having character issues and a as guy who takes plays off. When NFL scouts come out and make it known publicly that he had a god-awful interview, he shouldn't be the least bit surprised that he fell out of the first round.

pass rusher, a shitty run defender, having trouble with offensive lineman, especially when dealing with more than one blocker. His attitude has always been questionable, he is notorious for taking plays off. His presentation is arrogrant and narcissistic. No wonder teams are wary of his ability to consistently give his all. He is an entitled prick, groomed by entitled pricks; Coach D the king of them. I feel no empathy for his drop, he will still get a contract and make a decent salary, at least for a while.

Malik should've known. Never go full Sparty
April 28th, 2017 at 11:01 AM ^
Still, I still believe he would have thrived here. He just wasn't ready to grow up and his mom knew it when he chose MSU over us.
April 28th, 2017 at 11:12 AM ^
I am starting to think it might be about time for a series of random photos tagged with "Things draftered before Malik McDowell" if he does a Cousins-like fall through the rounds to the middle of the draft. I think that could be pretty funny if we all participated.

LSA, take a look at the Harbaugh Face Swap thread. I haven't had this unproductive of a Friday since football season....forgot how much fun this is.
April 28th, 2017 at 11:18 AM ^
I'm thinking top three anywhere between rounds 3-9.
Let's not be so hard on Malik. With him in the lineup, MSU was 2-7 last year.
April 28th, 2017 at 11:24 AM ^
Well, on average, Tom Brady and Cam Newton were drafted with the 100th overall pick. So Kizer has some time to wait.
April 28th, 2017 at 11:24 AM ^
Maybe he meant rounds.

are in the 3 - 9% range. The guy's got more baggage than the Samsonite factory.
