so relieved NCAA ruled spring break practice trips are more of a violation than what, at least seems to most I believe, is blatant violation of a long standing rule of impermissible benefits. Lovely. Just lovely.

I bet they "lease" them out to these "STUDENTs" so as to prevent any appearance of misappropriated funds. There are so many ways to hide this, but it's laughable that the NCAA wants to target piddly schools, minor violations, and f-ing spring practices.

I think you hit the nail on the head.  It looks like someone is providing lightly used vehicles, possibly with higher miles.  They can make this legit by deflating the sales price based on a 'fair' or 'poor' black book value and at the same time inflating the residual value of the vehicle.  Both values are subjective.  Add in a low interest rate and you could provide these vehicles for $100-200 per month.

Two ways they could get caught:

1. If the kids don't make the payments

2. If the 'fair' or 'poor' sales price is lower than the trade in market value.

In the late nineties the entire MSU basketball team was rolling around EL in white Ford Expeditions.  I still can't believe that era wasn't the end of Izzo.

is how often UM has supposedly finished 2nd to Bama (Ole Miss before and now Georgia) for a bunch of these big time recruits.  I can think of 5 star Hand, Najee, Treadwell, Wilson off the top of my head.

If we aren't going to go all out and cheat at SEC / OSU levels, it would be great if we could just filter out players who are looking to get paid.  And this is not at all a moralist attempt to judge any of these kids, as I think the whole NCAA model is a joke and we can debate from now until the end of time if and how much they should get paid based on what the universities make off of them.  Also, who wouldnt want $, hot chicks, and their family taken care of while in college...especially if not coming from wealth to begin with.

My point is simply, it would be a much better use of resources if we could focus on players that would legitimately not be swayed by SEC dollars - Stanford seems to be recruiting just fine in California despite competing with USC (perhaps their payout process is not finalized since sanctions and UCLA).

247 has a huge database and many fields.  Might as well add a field for "Expects Payment" and "Salary Requirements" - would save schools like UM, Stanford, Notre Dame a lot of time in recruiting.

This doesn't mean these kids own these cars. For all we know they could be renting these cars and just posting them on IG. I want to stress this to people on here. Just because your black and grew up in the inner city doesn't mean you're broke. I am African-American and grew up in a middle-class household in Detroit. My mother owned a Benz and my father drove a Cadillac. As long as someone in their family has good credit these cars aren't that hard to obtain.

Just because somebody isnt on the list doesnt mean they havent recieved a car or some form of payment from Bama. This is only a list of players who were dumb enough to post their relatively expensive cars to Instagram

You can continue playing dumb. Anybody who isnt overly gullible can read between the lines here. One or two players on their team driving expensive cars OK rich parents. Half the team? Fishy as all hell. Throw in the fact its Alabama who everyone thinks cheats......its too obvious

Additionally, if you've been around our campus, you've seen a healthy number of our football players driving around nice vehicles as well.

Maybe the culture and breadth of the extravagence isn't so brazen as what we're seeing in this post but there are still lots of football players in nice cars at Michigan for any number of reasons, legit or not...

and thanks for saying so. who knows maybe their parents saved for college. no tuition: congrats on your hard work son, here's a car. Now, that's not to say nothing is shady about any of it, but to suggest it is the only explanation is pretty biased. I'm sure there are benefits to playing at a school like Alabama just like there is for playing at Michigan.

as impressive as the cars are, graduating college, or leaving after even three years with a high 5 figure savings is a clear indicator fthose values needed for success are emphasized everyday and graduating, not only debt free, as is the case with most scholarship athletes, but with the discipline needed to accumulate savings of this nature, based on incomes that are probably no greater than 45-50K annually is truly impressive.

but I find it somewhat amusing, roughly three to four days after reading what amounts to the Beginner's Manual for bag men, among the easiest to explain, yet incongruous items for a college aged student with acknowledged limited financial resources of the immediate family to own was a high priced auto that needed no more explanation than it was given to him by an uncle - no need to explain his financial status - who wanted to display his pride in his nephew for attending college.  When it becomes a pattern for all to have such proud uncles, it would seem question worthy.

LMFAO This has nothing to do with race. These cars are VERY hard to obtain for college students. Allegations have been around for a long time about Bama giving players flashy cars. Derrick henrys Challenger, former WVU QB Pat White said Bama offered him a Corvette to play for them, and now this, a full on list of current Bama players with their over the top cars

You can go to any college and look at the football players dorm parking lot. You arent going to see them filled with Chargers, challengers and tricked out rides with big rims. Why? Because college students dont have money for 30k+ cars. These cars in the pictures are hard for adults with steady jobs to afford let alone college football players

This doesnt shock me...I mean it does...but what is more shocking is how long this has gone on without the slightest NCAA intervention...

I can remember back when TJ Duckett was rolling around E.L. in a black escalade.

Last thing:

how about the pictures with cash? One of them is in the damn locker room! Literally a kid with a Benji hanging out of his mouth talking about how great the training staff is...

Anyways...at least they put a stop to the atrocities associated with taking kids on spring break to Florida.

This should be celebrated!

It's much better that these players can spend money getting what they want rather than, oh, being taken on an all-expense paid trip to Rome or Spring Break in Florida in order to practice and team-build.

Schools like Michigan are the ones who really abuse the kids! They have 3 assistant coaches making seven figures!

This is big. Its been known for a long time that Bama gives recruits fancy cars. Nobody has really ever compiled a list with pictures though.

NCAA, please do something. I know they wont be this is just sickening

how an automobile is quite possibly one of the worst things to spend money on, unless it's a classic or a hobby car, etc.

Now, motorycles!  That's different.

The destruction of college football. SEC. Selective Enforcement for Cheaters. The coveted Alabama Degree no. 103 in the nation. Embarrassing, but like they say! Who cares when you make millions. It wouldn't matter if it were the equivalent to a High School diploma, where do I sign. Selective enforcement by the NCAA and your taking candy away from babies. The SEC is the only conference without rules. Don't even try it in any other conference or any sport. Looking at you Fab 5. So Washington won the National title. Osu cheated by bringing their own refs to The Game and Alabama and Clemson used professional players to win their conference's.

That was handled in a manner that would have brought shame to the author of Bag Men 101 or whatever his very interesting article was named. Proof of such is his clear explanation of all that is necessary to be explainble. If you can explain it minus a money trail, mandatory per his instruction, there is simply no way illegal benefits can be proven.

Michigan, not known for participation in these type of activities, especially relative to football, was extremely clumsy - a result of not understanding the basics - in regard to the Fab 5 along with a few to follow. Although it was widely understood that Martin provided equal illegal incentives to athletes that made up a large portion of all the collegiate rosters in the area, Those involved with ties to UM were so inexperienced that the out of the ordinary behavior, first noticed in the form of "what appeared to be unlimited access to the players by individuals I did not even know," by this particular gentlemen, former UM AD, recognized among the greatest ever, Don Canham, who noticed this as part of the crowd at Crisler Arena. If the behavior stood out to one who took more than casual interest in the activities of members of his sports teams, I imagine those tasked with knowledge of exactly what they were looking for, did not face a difficult job.

Proof that such behavior reaches those you would not consider, as many have suggested, was proven to be true, in this case any way, when it was learned among the players involved was Chris Weber, who appeared to be as reckless as the benefactor in his attempt to justisfy his inclusion among the guilty. It was not restricted knowledge that his mother was a practicing RN and his father, in addition to being a well paid employee at one of the then, large and exremely profitable Big Three, his partnership with Martin provided a substantial amount of money as well. His involvement simply proves improper benefits are not restricted to just those understood to be from poor families. The ease with which they proved the allegations against UM proves the importance of and the high probability of highly skilled bag men being actively involved in the majority of SEC schools, along with a few other schools knowingly suspected as being as equally as active in this behavior as the usual suspects.

Tired of seeing this crap. If Bama can continuously pull off this garbage, let the damn Ross's of Michigan's alum get to work. It's pretty clear that some schools are playing the game while others are playing with one or two hands tied behind their back. They can get all the Chargers they want. Ours will be outfitted with Bentleys, Astons, and Rovers as freshmen!

Nick Saban owns numerous Car Dealerships such as a Mercedes Dealership in Hoover. His players are seen driving cars that even adults with 100k+ salaries cant afford. He gets the best recruiting class every single year

Let's put 2 and 2 together............

I recognize the car that Bo Scarbrough has.  It's a 2016 (possibly a 17 but no older than 16) Chevrolet Camaro SS (either a 1SS or 2SS, need to see the interior to be sure).  Brand new that car costs 37k minimum for the 1SS (which is a manual) and the 2SS can be anywhere from 40-47k depending on what options it has.  OH WAIT it's a convertible so add about 8,000 to what I just told you and there you go.  That is the MSRP of his car.

It's a great car though.  I want one soooooo bad!  460 HP and it rides like a dream!

I know because I sell them for a living.  By the way if you are in the market for a new or pre-owned vehicle and you live in the Tampa (FL) area, come down to Ferman Chevy of Tarpon Springs and ask for Keith!  I'll make sure you get a great deal on any vehicle you choose!  :D
