If Livers makes a Beilein sophomore leap he may hold off Iggy. And having a scorer coming off the bench is something coach likes to have.

Sounds like we should try to get TAMU and OU to join the Allies.  That would really swing the balance of power to the good guys.

Any chance you could get the M Zone guys to bring back their "Know Your Foe" feature and put it on MGoBlog?

04/25/2018 - 11:38am I've been lucky

I've been lucky enough to have visited a lot of the national parks and all have been great.  Just got back from a spring break trip to Utah and Arizona where we visted 5 national parks.  I was really impressed with Zion.  Loved hiking The Narrows and Angels Landing.

Favorites out of all that I have visted would have to be Glacier Bay (in Alaska), Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Zion.  Hard to pick just one.  Have not been to Glacier (in Montana) but hope to get there this summer.

Thanks for the topic. Trying to recall all of the parks I've visited (not including those when I was a kid).  Brings back some great memories.  Not including  the favorites listed above I've been to Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain, Denali, Kenai  Fjords, Everglades, Acadia, Saguaro, Mammoth Cave, Wind Cave, Carlsbad Caverns, Badlands, Gateway Arch, and national lakeshore Sleeping Bear Dunes.

03/26/2018 - 4:20pm I hope you're right

I hope you're right, if the back up center is 6'6", not very quick and doesn't drive much then that is a huge advantage for Michigan.

03/26/2018 - 9:40am Going small

I wonder how Beilein will adjust to Loyola's small line up when Krutwig is on the bench.   Although Wagner is fairly quick for someone 6'11", he likely won't be able to stay with someone 6'5".  And although Mo is decent down on the block, it's not his forte (nor Michigan's).

03/25/2018 - 12:26pm Texas Tech

Something like 13 of the last 14 national champs have had blue as oneof their team's colors.  The one that didn't was Louisville, so some would argue that 14 of the last 14 were blue.  So, just root for Texas Tech to make it to the championship game and everything else will take care of itself.

Go Blue!

As a coach, a parent, and a fan I find this disturbing.  Put the bench players in.  You don't get extra credit for winning by 40.

12/05/2017 - 1:00pm 8 teams with the 5 power-5

8 teams with the 5 power-5 conference champs receiving automatic bids, plus 3 at large would be a nice set up.

Then again, I could see 16 teams.  Works well in the other divisions of football, plus upsets are what makes the NCAA basketball tourney so exciting.  A 16 team format would add to that element (but I certainly don't want to see more than 16 teams).

Smells like a fake class set up to help athletes, but North Carloina gets off the hook because regular students also ended up taking the "class".

It's like Kentucky basketball's super fancy dorm which is legal per the NCAA because a few regular students get to live there too.

10/09/2017 - 4:41pm Some Possible Ideas

1) Paint the visting locker room pink?

2) Have the visiting team and coaches searched with bomb sniffing dogs before they can enter the stadium?

3) Cover the portions of the stadium between the luxury boxes with huge metal overhangs that would help keep in the sound?

4) Stop writing about it and instead buy season tickets and scream your head off at appropriate times during the games?

Was at that game. My first thought when Grbac threw the ball was that it was overthrown. No way could Howard catch it. I'm sure others in the stadium thought the same thing. Certainly added to the excitement when Howard hauled it in.

I don't like greeters as you walk in.   Some of them are OK but most of them seem bored and unenthusiastic.  I find it annoying and a little creepy to have someone who doesn't seem happy to be there giving me a half-assed greeting and watching me as I enter the store.

08/03/2017 - 4:40pm For me the obvious answer

For me the obvious answer would be the bible, but since you say I already have that I would pick something lengthy.  Since I'm limited to one book I would hate for it to be something short that doesn't take long to read.  I've never read War and Peace so I'll pass on that one.  Did not find Moby Dick that thrilling.  I did enjoy the Lord of the Rings series, and since I've seen that trilogy combined into one book, I'll pick that as something that's both entertaining and would keep me occupied for a long time.   Not saying it's my favorite book of all time, but just one that is both entertaining and long.

07/30/2017 - 1:34pm I fished Slough Creek years

I fished Slough Creek years ago. Beautiful stream but the fish did a lot of looking and not much biting - then I put on a streamer and got decent action when others were not. Both royal coachman and brown trout streamers worked.

There is a small lake (pond) behind the maintenance shed south of mammoth springs that has a lot of small to midsize sized trout. If your kids are not great fisherman this is a spot that they will love. Took my kids there three years ago and they each caught several.

Love Yellowstone - whether fishing or not. Have fun!

Greatest home run I saw was when I was coaching my son's baseball team and he hit his first ever over the fence home run - just happened to be in the last inning of the championship game to complete a 6 run come back for the win.  (Not the longest or most impressive home run I've seen but it is the most improtant one I've seen and the one I will never forget.)

07/13/2017 - 3:42pm I would take the top LT, the

I would take the top LT, the Top CB, and the top safety.  Those pick ups would really help strengthen Michigan's team.  Then I would take Barkley from PSU and Barrett from OSU as that would really hurt those teams and improve Michigan's chances of winning the conference.

07/13/2017 - 9:08am Advice

I coached travel ball for a number of years and have talked to college coaches about the best way to get my kids recruited.  Because of resources and appeal, division 1 coaches will recruit differently than division 3 coaches.  From the sounds of it your son is a division 3 prospect.  Foa a division 3 prospect here is my advice:

Division 3 coaches don't typically look at kids until they're juniors or seniors.  So you're still OK from this regard.

There are a few baseball camps that are worth while, but many of them are money grabs and it's hard to get noticed.

Best bang for the buck is a PBR (Prep Baseball Report).  Go to a few of these (first time through your son may be nervous and not do his best.  Go again.  Second time through he should be more relaxed and hopefully do better.)  They will get his height, weight, times and stats documented.  They will also video tape him and have it on file for college coaches to look at.

Research the schools that interest him - don't wait for the coaches to come to him because they probably won't.  He needs to contact the coaches.  Find the schools that most interest him, then contact the coaches at those schools.  Let the coaches know that he wants to play for them and that his video and stats are on PBR.

Division 3 coaches don't have the time or the resources to scour the country for the best recruits.  They will attend a few camps and follow up on a few tips they receive, but they will spend a lot of there time in their office looking at sites like PBR.

If your kid wants to play division 3 ball he needs to contact the coaches and let them know he wants to play for them.  If they hold a camp, he needs to go to those camps - and he needs to let them know who he is when he's at those camps.  He needs to sell himself to these coaches!

Best of luck.
