OT - Alabama players and their cars

After all the cheating that was happening there under Carroll.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:58 PM ^
That's why they're pissed; they got caught and Alabama just hangs it out there for all to see.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:34 PM ^
co-signed on all the car loans.

Never would have thought massive rims were still in style. where are the spinners????
January 27th, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
we're just not telling the Bama folks.

Step off the plane and set your watch back 20 years

They probably come from the dealerships Saban owns.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:40 PM ^
Well that's one hell of a post. There are a million ways they make this legitimate but it's still funny and it's not like it doesn't happen everywhere. I remember when I was in school every top football and basketball player drove the same Ford Explorer and they were not shy about it. Had social media been around back then I'm sure it would've made for just as interesting a post. Bama just seems to allow their players the freedom to select more optional features and equipment.

Sure and how about that Trump inaguration crowd, it was yuuge
And on a side, what did Alec Morris do to piss the car buyers off and why would you take a picture with that ride?

I wish I was athletic enough to attract a bagman.

Like you guys didnt drive 80K cars around when you were in school?
LOSERS!
I mean it's pretty clear to me that Alabama recruits ALL must come from very wealthy families right? Maybe that's their recruiting profile - be good at football AND be independently wealthy too.
It's so obvious.

Must be a very friendly dealer. Even more friendly than the Columbus dealers that hook the team up.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:48 PM ^
to look after your car?
When my wife was in grad school, a couple paid her money to look after her kids. I don't see anything different here that people are paying responsible college kids to look after their cars.
Get a brane morans!

I feel like posting this may HELP alabama recruiting.

It hurts me to see Da' Shawn Hand among the pictured. Maybe this is the "earthquake simulator" that turned the tide to the Tide.

We got him a single ride in a go kart. I'm pretty sure Tosh Lupoi probably peed himself seeing the pictures and knowing what Bama has to offer in that regard.

was taken outside of the engineering school.

The hands down the front of your pants pose is a good look for a prospective engineer. It's what I had on my M card back in the day.

Bama is as clean as it gets, its not like they have a history(the 90s) of giving players stuff. In Bama's defense, they are just complying with SEC rules and policies.

NCAA loves $$$$. NCAA cares not for the well-being of the student-athletes, much less the "student" part of that, as long as the NCAA is making $$$$.
Bama is making the NCAA a ton of $$$$.
University of South Alabama is gonna get smacked to Bolivia by the NCAA for these obvious infractions.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:11 PM ^
is that Harbaugh plays within the rules to give students awesome experiences that are highly public. I think it's easier for the NCAA to maintain the "student athlete" when all the evidence of benefits is hidden to the general public.

26's on that ride yo . . . .

Damn fine snapper indeed
January 27th, 2017 at 2:02 PM ^
They are not paying tuition, they probably can afford better than average college kid cars.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
You're right. An 18 year old on a full scholarship usually can afford a $70,000 car. Good point.

January 27th, 2017 at 2:13 PM ^
the tuition they had budgeted for themselves is higher.
January 27th, 2017 at 3:17 PM ^
You are assuming they had tuition budgeted for themselves. Unless they came from wealthy families, that isn't very likely. Student loans are a real thing.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:18 PM ^
Especially since they have so much extra time on their hands after school and football that they can work a couple of jobs. Now I understand the issue with spring break practice trips. The kids need that time to work OT in order to pay those high car notes.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:09 PM ^
Funny how so few college players across the country can afford better cars compared to Bama players...
January 27th, 2017 at 2:14 PM ^
if you are not joking or being sarcastic............did you actually look at the cars in some of the pics? Not to mention the wheels on more than half of them are not cheap either. And these are current players that were on Alabama's 2016 roster

January 27th, 2017 at 2:18 PM ^
A lot of those cars aren't "better than average college kid cars", they're better than average six figure salary cars. I had a better than average college kid car--a new Saturn sedan.

College football needs to be split in two.
First group is a group that wants to live by the current rules and volutarily gives the governing body subpeona type rights. If the governing body asks for info and you don't comply - you're out.
Second group is a group with the ability to openly pay players.
January 27th, 2017 at 8:19 PM ^
would you want Michigan in? We can afford to outspend almost everyone.
