I hope they didn't cancel the Alumni flag game for Lacrosse. They need to build their stadium soon so that we no longer have to see those stupid lines on the field.

It was probably the same dude that Mike Valenti talked to before he started a topic about it on his show. The Sparty envy of our football and now basketball program is in full force.

Midtown or the Cass Corridor?

Just like the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey lol

Seriously though, it will be nice to have these games in the city of Detroit. If you don't live in Oakland or Macomb, the Palace is not exactly within driving distance. It takes me almost an hour to get from Trenton to Auburn Hills. Can't wait for the LCA to open up so I can finally watch some more NBA games.

It was a terrible pick by Dumars, but I'm not sure Carmelo would have been a good fit with the "going to work" Pistons team.

BTW-Darko was in the NBA for almost a decade and at one point got a 3 year $21 million contract from Memphis.

I hope it's Mel or someone

I hope it's Mel or someone outside the program, but it feels like we'll end up with an inside hire like Billy Powers.

I hope Liecester City wins.

I hope Liecester City wins. I'm tired of all these same Spanish teams making it far in European play (especially Sevilla). They seem to do well because the refs call a game that suits them.

Chychrun is not a 1st or even

Chychrun is not a 1st or even a 2nd pairing guy. His ceiling was always a very good 3rd pairing d-man (which is why he fell in the draft), basically another DeKeyser. There are plenty of those guys to be found. Until the Wings find a true #1, they have zero shot at the Cup.

This was a much needed upgrade. The last time they upgraded the weight room, Bill Martin was AD.

We already have a football

We already have a football complex (the Glick). The only thing needed was a larger, more modern weight room. I think $21 million is more than enough for that upgrade.

I'm surprised we haven't seen

I'm surprised we haven't seen any renders. They usually have them before a proposal is voted on.

From the render you posted,

From the render you posted, it looks like the lacrosse field is bigger than a regular sized track. The indoor track looks even smaller. I'm not sure why they didn't make enough room for a bubble practice field next to the new stadium. North Dakota State recently did that for $1.5 million... http://www.inforum.com/sports/bison/3664725-ndsus-bubble-facility-gives-baseball-softball-teams-place-practice-space-needed That's pocket change for our athletic department.

This was posted on HFBoards....

Just seconds after winning his first Cup, Ilitch made it point to offer condolences to Don Cherry on the death of his wife.

This is cool
Agreed

The best owner is Detroit sports history.

June 7, 1997 is still one of my top moments in sports history. Seeing Yzerman hand the Cup to Mr. Ilitch after the Wings ended a 40 year Cup drought was just awesome. RIP

It was bound to happpen. We

It was bound to happpen. We were lucky to land Pavel and Z late in the drafts, otherwise we would have had to rebuild a long time ago. Just look at what's happened to the Colorado Avalanche since Sakic and Roy retired. I'm actually looking forward to a rebuilding process, especially if Holland is gone. It would be nice to have a young up and coming team like in the late 80s. Those teams had no shot at beating the Oilers, but it was fun watching Yzerman grow and become a leader.

How the hell did Wisconsin

How the hell did Wisconsin become this good in basketball?! They can't recruit like Duke, Kentucky, Kansas etc. and yet they always seem to have good teams. Hell, Bo Ryan is gone and they are still on top of the B1G.

If it was about the cap room,

If it was about the cap room, I agree. Ericsson has the worst contract on the team and Kronwall is finished. DeKeyser is not playing well this season, but he's contract is not that bad if he reaches his ceiling (which is a top 4 d-man).

He was a 7th round pick for a

He was a 7th round pick for a reason. Played for CSKA Moscow (which is one of the best teams in the KHL) and was a -6 there. He did OK in Grand Rapids, but has been below average in nearly 80 NHL games. Was a turnover machine this season before getting injured. Maybe he'll do better in Toronto, but I doubt he's anything more than a 5th or 6th d-man on a good team.

He's had the chance since

He's had the chance since Lidstrom retired and has completely failed (making the playoffs with Z and Datsyuk was not that hard). I believe the Wings are at the top of the league in salary and we have zero top level d-men or centers. The amount of money wasted on average players like Abdelkader, Ericsson, Helm and Howard is absurd.

Marchenko was overrated by Wings fans

At best he's a 3rd pairing d-man, which means he's no better than Sproul, Jensen, Oullet, etc. But I totally agree with you on Holland and that it's time to get rid of him. At this point, he's becoming Joe Dumars at the end of his reign with the Pistons. After other GM's figured him out, he had no clue what to do and just kept signing overrated free agents that never worked out.

I would pick Owens over

I would pick Owens over Terrell Davis. Davis only had three "great" seasons and that was while playing with Elway and a Denver team that had a great offensive line.

They'll take action and later

They'll take action and later give them back their wins. Fuck the NCAA!

With all these top rated

With all these top rated receivers (let's not forget the TEs) out there, we won't need a dominant offensive line.

I find it funny that it's on a USC board

After all the cheating that was happening there under Carroll.

It can be done (especially with the expansion draft)...

The Leafs got rid of Phaneuf, Kessel, Clarkson and a lot of bad contracts. We just need the right GM that can do that, not someone stuck in the 90s. I would love to see John Davidson hired. He did a hell of job rebuilding the Blues (after the Pronger era) and has done the same with the Blue Jackets.

The problem is...

Mike Ilitch is no longer running the show. He's been in bad health over the past few years and his son Chris doesn't seem to be as big of a sports fan as him. If he doesn't have the same passion as his dad, I hope he ends up selling the team. There have already been rumors about selling the Tigers.
