This might be the comment of the year.  Basketball recruiting rarely gets me excited, and when we do finally land a 5 star like McGary, mitigating circumstances flame out his career in a bit of a parallel to MSU with Malik McDowell.  Both programs survive on making hay with "coach 'em up" candidates while the big boys feast on the top end talent.

01/27/2017 - 3:31pm The hands down the front of

The hands down the front of your pants pose is a good look for a prospective engineer.  It's what I had on my M card back in the day.

01/27/2017 - 3:26pm We're not good at this game

We got him a single ride in a go kart.  I'm pretty sure Tosh Lupoi probably peed himself seeing the pictures and knowing what Bama has to offer in that regard.

01/27/2017 - 1:49pm What a great post

It hurts me to see Da' Shawn Hand among the pictured.  Maybe this is the "earthquake simulator" that turned the tide to the Tide.

01/26/2017 - 3:20pm 2001 Line

I logged in after years of lurking because I think that the O-Line coach that coached up that great 2001 line might have been available for hire...  Seems like his track record as an O-Line coach was pretty good.

01/16/2011 - 10:23am In one of my dressers

I still have a piece of the 40 yard line in a sandwich bag.

08/18/2010 - 2:02pm Favorites

I lived in the land of Bourbon for a number of years, and if you really want a good one and money isn't tight, try the Pappy VanWinkle 23 year.  Fantastic stuff but the last I looked, a fifth was in the $80 range.  For more manageable pricing, you can't go wrong with Woodford Reserve.

12/10/2009 - 3:16pm The main difference in Graham and Suh

Graham put up his stats from Defensive End which means he is on the outside of the line and typically faces a single offensive lineman with the occasional double team (although the double team probably happened more often with Graham than most DEs). Suh on the other hand plays Defensive Tackle which in the traditional sense often demands double and even triple teams.

Often, a great DT will have next to no measureable statistics because his primary job is to occupy blockers to free up his DEs and Linbackers to make the tackles/sacks. The fact that Suh was able to put up those overall stats is amazing in the context of his position which is why I believe he's a freak of nature. If he put up the same stats from LB or even DE, they would be merely great. Just my take. I'm not a football coach, but I've watched stats enough over the years to know that Defensive Tackles, even the really good ones, don't normally do this.

12/09/2009 - 6:52pm Is it wrong to feel this way?

I'd like the Lions to sit their 4 or 5 competent players for the rest of the season so that we don't get a fluke win and disqualify ourselves from the Suh sweepstakes. I was fortunate enough to have been in the stadium in '97 for all of Woodson's performances, and I haven't seen a defensive player dominate the game like he did until this year with Suh. The guy is quite honestly special. Graham is awesome and should've been an All-American in my book, but Suh is at a whole different level IMHO.

12/09/2009 - 6:36pm By the way

Many, many congratulations on getting this community involved and doing a great thing. Keep up the fantastic work!

12/09/2009 - 6:26pm I remember that...

We actually did something remotely good for kids. Who would've thought with that group?

10/23/2009 - 12:46pm Great Tradition

I'm an old Phi Psi, and I know a good number of us will be out to support the event. Give us a good show tomorrow, play hard, and then we can all go watch Penn State's BCS hopes go down the drain. What a great day!

10/02/2009 - 3:43pm Reinstate him!

I agree with most of the levelheaded commentary here. Blount made personal calls to both the opposing coach and the player he punched to offer an apology. In addition to this, he decided to remain with the team knowing that he was in the doghouse of his coach and school administration while assuming that he wouldn't be allowed to play another down for the team. He definitely made a stupid, stupid mistake in the heat of the moment, but his actions afterward showed me that he has character that goes beyond that one boneheaded moment on the field. He's going to pay for this additionally with a drop in the draft next year (if he's drafted at all), and to me, he's paid enough for the crime. Let the kid show that he can redeem himself.

10/02/2009 - 3:30pm Agreed

Benpom should've made sure the place was covered in rose petals and that he put on his good cologne instead of the Brittish Sterling he normally wears for these occasions. Fortt would've been overcome with the non-creepiness that is the Michigan experience and committed on the spot. No sugarcoat.

10/02/2009 - 3:17pm Candle?

and we just scored another touchdown!

10/02/2009 - 3:03pm Thank you

That's a little more reassuring! Good find!

10/02/2009 - 3:00pm Anchorman

Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?

09/24/2009 - 3:32pm Re: Penn State

Maybe we both could "throwback" to leather helmets since the uniforms have only changed slightly over the years? That'd be novel in an "everyone's concussed" sort of way.

09/24/2009 - 3:00pm 1997 OSU

I still have a piece of the 40 yard line sod from that game in a plastic bag (I avoided being maced although my buddy Vince wasn't as lucky).

09/24/2009 - 12:17pm When I saw TT and McShay

with no OT heading, I thought this post was going to be about one of the Talbott brothers. Oh well.

09/24/2009 - 12:14pm Louisville

I wish I'd have known there was another Michigan fan around when I lived in the Highlands for 6 years. I signed up for the Alumni Association when I first moved down so that I could meet people to watch the games, and at the time, I was the only member in the Louisville chapter that they listed. Epic fail! Anyway, Go Blue!

09/24/2009 - 11:57am Demographic

I'm not sure about the normal demographic, but our group in town for the wedding is mid 20's to early 30's. We should have at least 10 or 15 of us that are alums and want to get out for the game.

09/24/2009 - 11:55am Thank you

For the additional info! I appreciate it. It's also been mentioned that we might come down and watch it with you guys. Apparently someone in our group knew about the bar you go to as well. We haven't decided yet, but maybe we'll see you on Saturday. Thanks again, and GO Blue!!!

09/23/2009 - 10:45pm Holy Jebus!!

You made me feel old. Thanks.

09/23/2009 - 10:40pm We've got a Michigan wedding party

that are all looking for the place to go Saturday. We're mostly out of towners staying in Santa Monica. Is South worthwhile? Any opinions aside from Mustaches?

09/23/2009 - 10:34pm Pedo Bear

I almost spit out my dinner when I saw this. Well played!

05/19/2009 - 4:17pm Very good question

I think the question of where World Wide Wes fits and if anything is happening that is truly against the rules is a great one to ask. He seems to always have the in with many top recruits, and there seems to be no question that he steers them to certain programs/coaches (see: Chris Douglas-Roberts). That being said, those programs/coaches deserve to be monitored closely. Just an opinion from me. I haven't seen any fire, but doesn't the air smell a little smokey? What's in it for Wes and the other advisors?

05/19/2009 - 3:10pm I hope UK is ready...

for the scrutiny to their recruiting practices that a class like this and the name Calipari should eventually bring. I remember the last 10 years of Michigan basketball, and I don't think that Lexington could take that.

05/14/2009 - 12:29pm I would love to see...

Louisville
Kentucky
Kansas
North Carolina
Villanova

in that order. We don't seem to play those teams much, and now that master cheater Callipari is at UK, they all should have a lot of talent and be near the top of the rankings.

05/12/2009 - 10:41pm Beverages

I thought as I was reading your post that we might've attended the same bachelor party until I got to the point where you said "several adult beverages". Had you said "copious amounts of booze" instead then there would've probably been a good chance we know each other.

05/09/2009 - 9:44pm Can she change?

If she's not a Notre Dame alumnae, you have an outside shot, but at 81, it is probably miniscule. You'll probably have to convince her that The Emu drives by middle schools with piles of candy in his windowless van to get anywhere. Good luck!

05/09/2009 - 9:35pm Chuck Daly

He was all class. They just don't seem to make coaches like that anymore. He will be missed. Sad few weeks for Detroit sports with George Kell, The Bird, and now Daddy Rich.

05/09/2009 - 9:27pm Apology accepted.

Just don't let it happen again.

05/09/2009 - 12:30am Loved it.

I got no more than 20 seconds into that, but seeing them slow motion run to a Grand Am with a car bra made me giddy like a schoolgirl. I have a permanent smile from that.

05/08/2009 - 11:58pm Touche

You're not lying.

05/08/2009 - 11:42pm I agree with the first Big Blue comment

I graduated in 2000 and went to work for a company in Kentucky where they have called the Kentucky Wildcats Big Blue since Adolph Rupp was playing 5'10" white guys at the 5. I hadn't seen Michigan ever called that until about 2002 or 2003 when, and this is an attempt to remember, some SEC homer, ESPN employee f'd it up and called Michigan by their name because he didn't care to differentiate the nicknames of 2 teams that happen to wear shades of blue. It has now become almost commonplace. Much like Detroit is D-town, The Motor City, or Motown and isn't Big D (Dallas), Michigan isn't Big Blue. We are the Maize and Blue. Rant over.

* If Brandon Graham goes down, I predict that I will move up greatly on the 2010 season ticket wait list.

05/04/2009 - 4:03pm "I am Bias"

Wasn't that the scrapped PR campaign for the '86-'87 Boston Celtics?
