I took it more like they’re unlikely to move because he thinks their competition won’t change and so they’re unlikely to see anything new on film. The IMG and camp comments were about seeing them go up against better talent and doing well. Also, I think the likely to move up should often be has opportunity to move up, because it’s usually more that they’re going to play better quality opponents and could shine, not have already shined against better quality opponents (although those are in the list too).

Maybe he’s interjecting his opinion about guys rising to the occasion, or maybe likely to move up sounds better than opportunity to move up. Sure sounds better than likely to move down. I think he’d only say that if he knew they’d done poorly at a camp already.

Mark D’antoni is coaching Western Kentucky now? MSU must be pissed.

05/25/2018 - 6:37am We haven’t had a legit top QB

We haven’t had a legit top QB option in a while. We have a lot of talent at WR. I’m expecting a much better offense than we saw last year.

05/11/2018 - 8:26pm Every year I hear “it’s a tie

Every year I hear “it’s a tie at QB” and I think QB competition is good. But really it’s because the perceived starter is meh. This year I’m expecting Harbaugh to say one guy is far out front because that needs to be the truth. It’s time to have a real clear starting qb again going into the season. No question marks.

05/01/2018 - 4:37am How about a round robin style

How about a round robin style tournament where each team plays say 162 games and the winners progress to an elimination style tournament. The elimination tournament could have best of 5 or 7 game series ultimately culminating in a championship series to decide who represents the best team in the world.

04/07/2018 - 9:48am Not to defend BK, but

Not to defend BK, but deciding to transfer is under the umbrella of academics. I’m not sure what you’d want him to say. It’s probably not appropriate to say anything else, he’s not hurt, he shouldn’t mention that he’s considering a transfer, and “I don’t know” or other options would just draw more attention. As the article said, “Academics” is a non-issue for most people as it’s common to miss practice for classes.

04/03/2018 - 8:09pm Sorry. I meant we take a lot

Sorry. I meant we take a lot of perimeter shots/have a lot of jump shooters. We don’t have a really strong inside game compared to most teams, so shooters need to hit outside shots. They tend to be pretty far shots at that. So if they’re tired, they might have a tougher time making them.

04/03/2018 - 1:32pm Makes sense. We’re a team

Makes sense. We’re a team that needs a lot of threes to win and the tired legs may have led to poorer shots. We didn’t have a significant bench to speak of and had 3-4 starters every game playing 30+ minutes. Villanova had guys playing lots of minutes too, but they had a lot of guys playing closer to 20 min per game so they could maintain energy. We need more depth.

04/03/2018 - 6:18am Just enjoy that we got to see

Just enjoy that we got to see Michigan in the finals again. There's a reason why we recognize NCAA teams that make the sweet 16 and final four. It's hard to make the finals. We were this year's Cinderella, but our run started in the BTT. We had a lot of dominos fall help us to the finals, but Villanova was loaded with talent and played like it. Still it was great to see Michigan in the final game and hopefully this helps the program recruit talent going forward.

Agreed. But our path in the tournament was relatively soft. Our closest victory was against our best opponent by seed. And they were a 6 seed. Nova will be a big step up.

04/01/2018 - 9:07am We are the underdog, clearly,

We are the underdog, clearly. We got lucky with only facing low seeded opponents in the tournament so far, but we did beat enough quality opponents in the regular season and BTT that we deserve to be taken seriously in the championship game. Predicting an upset based on patterns or numerology is fun, but we need to play at a top level and Nova needs to have a less than great game. This year there hasn’t been a better team than Nova, but they’re not as invincible as previous champions seemed. So it all depends on who shows up and how they play.

03/31/2018 - 4:27pm I'm not sure I understand at

I'm not sure I understand at all why ole miss is involved at this point. On the face of it, I get that they're protecting their reputation, but the players are gone now. What do they get by fighting this? The players could argue it doesn't matter what happens to ole miss because the school couldn't demonstrate they weren't going to get punished. If ole miss is clean, it was up to ole miss to convince the players that the program was clean. They couldn't do that, so they left. now ole miss is seeking vengeance? It's really not their business what happens to these players.

Of course we all know they were dirty, and the players and NCAA know it too. In fact, these players should just come out and testify against ole miss because then they'd probably be protected from ole miss by whistleblower laws.

His ears are legally considered a handicap in ten states.

03/26/2018 - 3:08pm There’s the university and

There’s the university and the athletic department. The athletic department can go broke for all I care. They are the root of the problem and they should bear the brunt. The university punishment should be different. I’d say they the leadership all must go, but the financial penalty to the university should be low if any. The athletic program on the other hand should be forced to make financial restitution without tax payer funds or other state or school support (endowment). The endowment shouldn’t be used for sports and if they do it might be illegal. That’s money for building academic and research buildings, hiring faculty, running academic departments, etc. If the athletic department can’t pay it on their own, then shut them down.

Ha. I meant people might disagree about college kids being impressionable.

03/16/2018 - 5:56am Ugly wins are important.

Ugly wins are important. Every year a few top seeds have an ugly win in their opening game then turn it up in game two. The important thing is to keep winning.

03/15/2018 - 6:07pm Right decision. Can't have

Right decision. Can't have coaches and staff on a college football team drinking and driving. I'm sure people will disagree, but college kids are still impressionable. You have to lead by example and expect a high standard.

03/12/2018 - 8:40am KU is the one of the most

KU is the one of the most undeserving number 1s in tournament history. 7 losses and some against non-tourney teams. The committee let ASU in to make Kansas look stronger. .

03/07/2018 - 10:21am With regards to the point

With regards to the point about DUIs. An employer can’t stop people from getting their first DUI and shouldn’t be held accountable unless the DUI occurred after a work event. They can control how they respond to the DUI either by reprimand or termination. So having coaches, players who get a DUI is really not a mark against the team unless it’s a repeat offense.

03/06/2018 - 9:26pm The winning isn’t a result of

The winning isn’t a result of a hot streak. Michigan looks sound and confident. The BTT run allowed them to beat handily MSU, Purdue and Nebraska, so there’s nothing but positive to focus on going into the break. Plus, if they’re a 2 or 3 seed, they can shake off any rust vs in game 1 vs a 14 or 15 seed. If they do make a deep tournament run, imagine how valuable this rest will be.

I find it cool that the current world record was set in 1999 by Hicham El Guerrouj at 3:43.13. He beat the previous world record of 3:44.39, but had to sprint to hold off another runner (Noah Ngeny) in the last stretch. That guy also broke the record at 3:43.40. Pretty amazing.

02/22/2018 - 9:35pm Dude. Fuck Dan Enos. Let him

Dude. Fuck Dan Enos. Let him go to Bama like all the position coaches before him, and sure go ahead, win a couple of national championships there. But then he’ll get hired as a head coach somewhere like Colorado St. And he’ll do ok at a small school, but when the big time SEC school comes calling, watch him take a head coaching job somewhere like Florida. And then watch out because he’s going to suck there and then he’ll fuck a shark and come begging to us for a job and we’ll be like fine, but you’re only coaching WRs.

That will teach him.

I really liked Mario 3 back in the day.

02/19/2018 - 8:46pm Stanford is a great place to

Stanford is a great place to go to school. Beautiful campus, great weather, great football, California, etc. They can sell a lot more than just academics to recruits.

Michigan isn’t in the same situation as a location, but they can sell tradition, largest stadium, nationwide following, track record of nfl players, strong academics, top notch coaching, great helmets, biggest rivalry. Lots of stuff. The problem is you can’t win everyone and people seem to forget these are kids who decide based on whatever their personal criteria are. Enough kids will come to Michigan to win. There’s a lot of talent on the team. Let’s build some experience and stop bitching about why Michigan isn’t what it’s not.

02/18/2018 - 1:44pm I'm not sure why this is

I'm not sure why this is controversial. It was never in the NHLs interest to play in the olympics.  It's odd to stop your season for two weeks to let a small number of players go play in what is essentially an exhibition tournament run by the IOC. Sure, it's "for your country", but that's really more propaganda than a real incentive when you think about how corrupt the IOC is. It's also not a wildly popular tournament like the world cup, which has been going on for years. This was something that was tried in a few olympics and while it was nice, it also was bad for the NHL teams and their season.

None of the other four sports stop their season for the olympics. If the olympics added football, would the NFL let their players go?  Hell no, and that happens in the offseason.  The MLB wouldn't stop the season so players could go. The NBA wouldn't do this either, but their olympics happens in the offseason, so they let players go. How many players would leave their team if the NHL was to say players could go, but they would miss two weeks?  Probably would lead to a big drop in big names at the olympics.

The couches should be the only things safe in EL at this point. Burn the whole school to the ground.

02/12/2018 - 7:18am Honestly, I used to think

Honestly, I used to think this too, but my thinking has changed. It’s hard to argue this without getting political and I will avoid that because I have no dog in this fight. I’ll just point out there are a lot of people in this country who have strong opinions on the lifestyle choices of LGBT individuals on both sides of the issue. Regardless of whether one agrees with their viewpoint, most people will understand that many in the LGBT community FEEL discriminated against and so it means a lot to them. Sports have always had a political undertone, particularly the Olympics.

Bottom line, I realized these “why does it matter if” issues matter to some people and it’s not about me. So I don’t complain because I’m lucky that it’s not about me.

02/11/2018 - 2:30am A lot of people are over

A lot of people are over thinking this one. Former HC af Florida and Colorado State. Former OC at Bama. Being hired as 10th coach (to work with WRs). It’s February, many other options have jobs. As a coach this is low risk and high upside. Reminds me of the Jedd Fisch hire. Also, may have humped sharks. But, the chances of shark humping in Michigan are extremely low. That said, the lake sturgeon better watch out.

02/05/2018 - 12:59pm I don’t care what offense he

I don’t care what offense he runs as long as it moves the ball consistently. We can play all day in goalline formation if we get first downs. But it better get executed well or it’s not going to.

Edit: I’d like to see a dynamic offense, but my point was do something that works.

02/04/2018 - 7:49pm This is the appropriate tool

This is the appropriate tool to deal with MSU at this point.

02/04/2018 - 12:12pm The NFL made a big mistake

The NFL made a big mistake suspending brady and legitimizing the whole deflategate thing. it was an incompetant investigation by an arrogant leader the owners should have fired long ago. The NFL doesn't understand how to market its stars.

Like him or not, a player going for his 6th super bowl shouldn't have been vilified for something that didn't impact the outcome of a game and probably didn't happen. You should have a bit more respect for the stars in your league, whether they be brady or manning or whoever, because they're the ones doing the feats that you'd like to celebrate as a league. Instead, the league makes their stars as unpopular as they can.

The NBA celebrates LeBron or Steph Curry. MLB celebrates Trout or Harper. The NHL celebrates Crosby or McDavid. They don't try to take them down. You might not be a fan of those players, but you can respect them as great players who achieve amazing things and the league can promote those things as part of their brand. Can you imagine the NBA suspending LeBron for 25% of the season for something so minor as deflate gate?  Now there's a rift and Brady and the Pats play to spite the NFL commissioner.  What a shame.

02/03/2018 - 12:48pm Universities act in their own

Universities act in their own self-interest. That’s not a crime. MSU was covering up for the crimes of a pedophile. That’s the difference.

02/03/2018 - 7:14am I think that says much more

I think that says much more about Myron Rolle than FSU. He’s one of 5 Rhodes scholars from FSU since 1904. For perspective, Michigan has 26 in that time and Harvard has 350.

01/29/2018 - 6:32am My vote is for either Pete

My vote is for either Pete Carroll or Bill Belichick.

01/28/2018 - 8:21am From a sports fans

From a sports fans perspective they may seem untouchable, but from a university and liability perspective things may look very different. MSU’s administraton has a huge problem that isn’t going to go away until they clean house. Whether they directly or indirectly knew about this, they’re responsible and they know it. If they came out and took responsibility publicly things might be different, but they’re not. There are going to be huge lawsuits coming. Renewing of contracts and donor funds. If the perception is that the institution hasn’t changed, those are in jeopardy. No one is above the institution. The institution will be around for the next hundred years. It’s the job of the new AD and university president to repair the institutions credibility. Once the university president and AD start to resign, no one is safe. They’re both gone.

01/27/2018 - 12:11pm You’re an excuser and
