OSU did give up 50 to Maryland in 4q and one OT. They gave up 31 to Nebraska, 49 to Purdue, 31 to Oregon state. The only reason that OSU is ranked is because they’ve been incredibly lucky not to lose to Nebraska and Maryland. If you think about it that way, it doesn’t seem like nearly as big of a task.

Also, chances are our defense scores if we play like we usually do.

11/23/2018 - 3:07pm Michigan needs to play like…

Michigan needs to play like they normally play and they should win this. Not executing is way we lose.

“You’d have to kill [Chase] to take him out.”

I’m not certain that death would stop Chase.

If he started vs Indiana, I’m sure he’s starting vs OSU.

11/19/2018 - 8:57am Haskins can sit in the…

Haskins can sit in the pocket with not a lot of pressure most games and he’s very accurate. This game comes down to our D line getting enough penetration to disrupt Haskins. Then the cornerbacks just need to keep the windows tight enough for long enough to make throws under pressure difficult.

11/18/2018 - 11:27am The IU defense was good…

The IU defense was good yesterday, but we run so much zone read that if Patterson isn’t pulling from time to time it’s not a hard offense to stop. When he did pull or went for the pass option he was gaining lots of yards, but that was a bigger risk for injuries. I think the staff made the calculation it was better to win ugly and keep Patterson healthy for OSU. I’d say it was a good call.

11/18/2018 - 11:19am They’re trying to stir up…

They’re trying to stir up controversy, like what happens if Bama loses etc. It’s become a channel of trolls.

11/18/2018 - 9:47am A win is all that matters…

A win is all that matters. The defense was challenged for the first time in a long time, but they adjusted and gave up yards and not points in the second half. Indiana was much better than their record indicated. They had tight games vs OSU and PSU as well in the first halves, but ultimately couldn’t beat either. We didn’t play our best but won.

As for if this is a blueprint for beating Michigan, we have experience now with facing this blueprint and it’s probably what OSU was going to do anyway. OSU doesn’t have a fast QB but they do have better passing offense than we’ve seen. Our D line will need to get more pressure than tonight.

11/11/2018 - 6:02pm Two more weeks left and…

Two more weeks left and conference championship. No reason to worry about this until we’ve won those games. If we win out we should be playing in the playoffs.

A lot of football left to play. We haven’t seen more than one undefeated p5 team in the playoffs in any year since 2014, let alone three. Let’s see what happens.

I’d imagine he could get a bunch of NFL offers. He’s one of only seven active NFL coaches with a Super Bowl win.

I don't mind him leaving, but any interested team needs to wait until after the regular season/championship game to contact him.

Only if you force the independent teams into conferences.

11/06/2018 - 3:49pm Rutger isn’t scoring on…

Rutger isn’t scoring on offense against our 1st team. They might keep it scoreless for an extended period of time, but we’re going to win with cruelty.

Thank goodness we get to play OSU to actually figure out who is better.

11/05/2018 - 11:34pm Just keep winning and we’ll…

Just keep winning and we’ll be in the playoffs. The SEC won’t get two teams in with undefeated ND and Clemson and Michigan as big ten champ. Remember how our schedule was/is viewed as brutal. We’ve destroyed highly ranked teams this year. No one wants to see rematches when you’ve got a chance of seeing Michigan. That should get us in.

11/05/2018 - 8:32pm Taking off your helmet is a…

Taking off your helmet is a dumb automatic penalty.

11/04/2018 - 3:50pm Meyer is done at OSU and…

Meyer is done at OSU and there’s no heir apparent. He’s lost control of his team and they’re very one dimensional. Michigan is arguably playing like the best team in the country and their coaches are coaching up and cranking out NFL caliber DL right now. There’s also a lot of stability on our defensive coaching staff.  Don Brown and Mattison are staying around at this point. DL commits should be jumping on in as quick as they’re offered.

11/04/2018 - 11:03am Why do you assume the team…

Why do you assume the team doesn’t see Indiana and Rutgers as part of the revenge tour?  Last year Indiana took us to OT, which I’m sure pisses off the team. Rutgers is our biggest (New Jersey) rival and that’s big because a lot of the team is playing in front of their families and friends. No way they want to look bad in front of them. Therefore, neither are trap games because they ARE part of the revenge tour.

11/04/2018 - 10:55am I loved the trolling TD and…

I loved the trolling TD and sac celebrations by the team. They were on point, especially Donovan Peoples-Jones  celebratating across the end zone after the TD like Barkley did last year.

Winning with cruelty.

We own Penn State

11/03/2018 - 8:21pm I didn’t get why the 15 yard…

I didn’t get why the 15 yard penalty didn’t still count. I thought at some point the targeting ejection could be reversed, but the 15yrd penalty would still stand.

10/31/2018 - 2:06pm Great story Joe.

Great story Joe.

They are mad because James Franklin is a fraud and he needs to be exposed. The Michigan defense is going to come to play on Saturday.

The rest of the team was indicted for attempted football.

10/29/2018 - 10:04pm Gentry trying to block that…

Gentry trying to block that LB made me laugh. He gets bowled over and ends up so far out of the play, but at least he tried.

Michigam?  We’re already in his head.

10/27/2018 - 8:52am Almost everyone wanted…

Almost everyone wanted Harbaugh when Hoke was hired. The 49ers hired Harbaugh 5 days before Michigan hired Hoke. I think the time when there was less much consensus on Harbaugh was when Rich Rodriguez was hired in December of 2008.

At that moment in 2008, Harbaugh was in  his first year at Stanford and had most famously said some negative things about Michigan student athletes. At the time, Harbaugh was not very popular with the Michigan faithful.

Who knows, maybe Marcus Ray will have a similar redemption in the eyes of MGoBlog fans some day. I doubt it, but who knows.

10/24/2018 - 10:02pm I was also thinking about…

I was also thinking about the trip as well, but I think mason falling down inadvertently ends up buying Shea more time. I think the defender probably had a harder time telling that he didn’t have the ball and therefore kept going instead of looking for the pull. I think if mason stays upright, that player in the gap may see that he doesn’t actually have the ball and adjust. Shea probably still gets the first down, but it’s more of a race.

10/21/2018 - 1:36pm A&M WAS ranked when they…

A&M WAS ranked when they played them. They’re by far the best team Bama best at 5-2. Most of the teams they played have losing records.

Pity Penn State? With James Franklin as their head coach? He’s a fraud and we need to expose him as such.

10/21/2018 - 1:28pm Sparty did have injuries and…

Sparty did have injuries and they don’t have a lot of depth. If Sparty is heathy I think they get up over 100 yards total of offense in that game. Maybe even 110.

10/21/2018 - 1:21pm Taking this stupid walk…

Taking this stupid walk thing so seriously that they run over the other team is exactly the type of thing a little brother would do.

10/21/2018 - 12:00pm 50 of 99 penalty yards came…

50 of 99 penalty yards came on the last Sparty drive and some of that was pretty questionable. We were undisciplined at times, but I think the refs were just trying not to let it get out of control given their backup qb was in and the game was over. The refs let the teams play for most of the game and we got away with a few penalties that didn’t get called. It’s nice to be on the receiving end of refs looking the other way for once.

10/21/2018 - 11:51am Michigan is number one in…

Michigan is number one in the big ten. I can’t remember the last time that happened. Let’s stay in the lead.

10/21/2018 - 9:27am Bama hasn’t played anyone…

Bama hasn’t played anyone yet. I know the SEC hype machine is all over them, but let’s see if they can stay undefeated, even with their weak schedule. Keep in mind, most of the teams they beat have losing records. 5–2 A&M is their best win, but even that’s pretty weak to justify them as the #1 team in the country.

10/21/2018 - 6:32am I liked it. I was wondering…

I liked it. I was wondering if they can use them for instant replay? Additional angles are always helpful.

10/19/2018 - 9:12pm Y'all forgot the refs. They…

Y'all forgot the refs. They're going to be over the top pro-MSU this year. I think we don't have an MSU drive in the first half that isn't helped by penalties to Michigan. I think MSU+refs make this game close despite Michigan completely dominating on both sides of the ball. It's EL and the refs are always pro-MSU there.

10/17/2018 - 11:48am Opposing QBs didn't throw on…

Opposing QBs didn't throw on Woodson very often. That's a big part of it.

The webs are slow in Tehran. It took him a month to figure out what this guy was talking about.

10/14/2018 - 12:10pm Michigan has given up most…

Michigan has given up most of their meaningful points this year in the first half. We’ve had injuries to Gary or Hudson that hurt our defense somewhat in those halves. If we have all our starters vs MSU, I think we dominate Sparty. That said, I think Michigan also gets a ton of penalties that will keep Sparty in it. If we can avoid penalties too, then I predict we shut out Sparty.

10/14/2018 - 12:03pm Unless it’s a big RPS win, I…

Unless it’s a big RPS win, I don’t think the jet sweep is effective when we have Gary. IIRC, Maryland has jet sweep threat every play and got nothing really until Gary went out. Either Gary or Chase can delay it long enough to allow help from Bush or one of the safeties. I’d bet they ran those sweeps away from Chase tonight and our other DEs aren’t experienced or talented enough to know what to do.

10/14/2018 - 11:53am Beyond the four games thing,…

Beyond the four games thing, Milton also played in the 4th quarter and had a great long run.

Also, the new rules make it nearly impossible to “burn” redshirts: either you play in only four games and redshirt or you play in more and probably shouldn’t redshirt in the first place.

No surprise. The NCAA gets more useless.

10/09/2018 - 8:51pm Louisville coaches paid…

Louisville coaches paid prostitutes to sleep with recruits and fathers. They still have a program. As long as that’s the standard, I’m not sure why anyone follows the rules.

Also, they paid the parent.  Cam Newton already proved this means nothing can happen unless the kid knew that the payment took place and at the full digits for least five of the bill serial numbers

Meh. Sparty always has some guy who plays hurt or steps in to play well. Let’s just see who takes the field in two weeks.

10/08/2018 - 1:49am ND might be the team with…

ND might be the team with the most impressive schedule so far, beating us, Stanford and VaTech, so a 7-point road wasn't as bad as we thought at the time.
