Referees to wear GoPro camera hats for Big Ten championship game
Just read an article on MLive (not sure if I can post it or not) that stated the refs will be wearing GoPro cameras placed on their hats so the viewing audience can see the game from their perspective. It was tested earlier in the season, but I find it ironic they are wearing them for this game.
Cute.
Edit: Yeah it is a post about the refs. But it is relevant. Sorry master.

dear god. As if Penn State v. Wisconsin is not really, really hard on the eyes already.

The footage could be used to cure recalcitrant youth of their bad behavior.

is one of like three movies(two by Kubrick) that I have seen that I can say I just don't understand, period. I have watched the entire thing twice in a state of open mouth confusion interspersed with doses of apprehensive contempt. Just over my head I guess.

Simpleton.
Actually, I feel the same way about many critically-acclaimed movies. I didn't really get The Shining (is that the other Kubrick movie that you alluded to?). Maybe I'd feel differently now, because I think I first saw it in high school, but at the time I definitely didn't come away thinking it was some sort of classic.
I'm ashamed to admit it but another movie like that for me is Miller's Crossing, and I LOVE the Coen brothers. Maybe I should watch it again as an adult.

Shining is best understood in the Horror genre I think. I don't think there is really much to understand more than dude was weird, went to mansion and freaked out, everybody freaked out, things were freaky. I think that is The Shining in a nut shell.
The other Kubrick movie that I am talking about is 2001. I know, I know, it is a cinematic masterpiece, the best of all time........ yada yada. I just didn't get it. The only sense that I can make out of it is that, if we were to make legitimate contact with alien intelligence, that it would not take the form we would suspect. That it would effect the senses in a manner previously unrealized and not as simple as "see, hear, touch," and that the movie was not supposed to "make sense" in a conventional way. If it isn't that then I have no clue.

It made little sense as a romantic comedy. Now I get it!

And I should have clarified--it's not that I didn't understand the movie, I just didn't understand why it was/is so highly regarded. I didn't find it all that scary, which I think is the main point of a horror film. And I'm not trying to pretend like I am some sort of tough guy who doesn't find movies scary or suspenseful. It's just that The Shining didn't really do it for me.
Thanks for all the comments--interesting to hear everyone's views on these films. And for the record ijohnb: you didn't get 2001? I thought it was a nature film about monkeys. I don't know if there is much more to it, though I might have dozed off while watching it.

You should definitely give Miller's Crossing another try. I think it is the best Coen Brothers movie. As an adult, you will probably follow the complex plot more easily. It's worth it.

Isn't that what everyone always says?
I did read the book my freshman year in Engineering Humanities. The class discussion of the book was all over the place. Personally, I loved it Rebellious youth and the like run amok in a dark vision of a Russo-ified future.

The guy holding the first down marker should be wearing a GoPro.

Too bad they didn't have this last week so we could see how frequently that crew was ogling Weber's ass...

he does have a pretty nice ass...... I mean I guess, if you noticed that type of thing.

If anything, this will continue the dialog of how POORLY officiated the game was. I hope the broadcasters bring up these GoPros throughout the game. Can only help our cause in the committees eyes.

The constant talk about this is annoying at times, but it also highlights the need to keep officiating accountable. It must at least be heard by the committee who has to consider this as part of their debate on rankings.

Yes, the refs took selfies with the players and made lots and lots of duckface...

Bobby Sagers and his pals would siimply have shown us what the insides of their colons looked like as their heads were quite obviously up their own asses, save for the times they weren't performing favors on urban.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:08 PM ^
Sagers camera would have you believe that Michigan was the only team on the field. He certainly wasn't looking to call any penalties against OSU.

Brian to send the B1G office to Bolivia .... B1G office just won't let it go !
Go Blue!

That would be very cruel to Bolivia.
December 1st, 2016 at 2:49 PM ^
That's good. Maybe they can give the raw footage to their proctologists and avoid a colonoscopy.
EDIT: beaten to the punch by Jevablue. Great minds...

to get closure on this fucking ref-gate scandal? My thoughts:
1) Delany announces measures to eliminate even the appearance of bias in all games going forward.
2) OSU gets their undeserving asses absolutely smoked in their next game, which I believe will certainly happen when they play anyone tough on a neutral field.
3) Michigan makes the playoff and smokes those pricks on a neutral field.
Choices 1 & 3 would give me closure but are highly unlikely. Choice 2 will only partially do it.
Therefore, I predict that I will still be pissed at this time next year.
Never forget.

does the BIG get from this? So weird. This had to be a decision made before last Saturday, like ESPN's spectacularly awful "courtside seats" for the Michigan v. Ohio State basketball game last year.

These games are when TV networks try "gimmicks" to get people to tune in who wouldn't otherwise be inerested. "Hey--we're going to have cameras in hats! It will be so cool!"
The fact that they have a sponsor lined up for it makes it pretty obvious that this was negotiated a while ago--you don't negotiate something like this in 3 days, especially when it involves creating a thing (GoProHatCam) that doesn't exist in the real world.

Michigan announces it is leaving the Big Ten to go to _________ Conference or to become an independent.
I will never, ever trust a Big Ten crew in anything.

however semantically I doubt we will ever get what you call "closure" on the issue of The Game last Saturday. Rather the options you describe might help with this vindication feeling we might develop if good things happen this Sunday at Noon with the CFP announcement.

Eff that. What they need to do is put camera on the first down marker. Seriously, why isn't this being done yet? Seems like an obvious move once you have reasonably compact wireless cameras.
Oh wait, money > integrity. Right.
