One Frame At A Time: UCF
This play didn't crack the top five this week. I still want to talk about it, though. Not that you need to be told this, but watch Jabrill Peppers, who starts the play lined up on the block M.
The rest of the defense is caught flat-footed on this play. The D-line is slanting away from the running back. The force defender is nowhere to be found. The playside corner is caught in man coverage and has his back to the play. Peppers's first two steps are towards deep center, then he has to alter his path to avoid running into Delano Hill.
With a speedy running back around the edge unimpeded, this play looks destined for a first down. Peppers not only reads the play and covers a ton of ground to get to the back before the sticks, he cuts down the angle and finishes the play by literally throwing the RB out of bounds.
Savor every moment you get to watch this guy—excuse me, this Dude—play football. He is truly a once-in-a-generation athlete.

HONORABLE MENTION
De'Veon Smith romps.
Jehu Chesson lays out to catch a post.
Jeremy Clark double-PBU.
Rashan Gary, Ben Gedeon meet at quarterback.
Harbaugh claps Miles-style.
Harbaugh plays peekaboo.
Harbaugh says you're outta here.
Khalid Hill TD vulture 1.
Khalid Hill TD vulture 2 (watch Mason Cole on this one).
Peppers with great coverage, better dismount.
Peppers illegally blocked below waist, still makes tackle.
Peppers isn't satisfied with a near-TD.
Peppers, human after all, struggles with water bottle.
Never call the Lions play.
Wormley's second FG block. Another replay angle.
Kinnel's second punt block.
Speight somehow avoids sack, hits Poggi, who kills a guy.
Winovich gets the corner for a strip-sack.
"There was no booger eatin'."
10. Butt Demoralizes KNIGHTRO
This is what you deserve for not being a Citronaut.
9. Field Goal Meets Bear Paw
Yeah, it's a low kick, but this is still a heck of an effort by Wormley.
8. Centerfielder With Range
I love that you can see the moment the UCF RB realizes he's about to die.
7. Drag, Touchdown, Grass Dance
Getting unnecessarily knocked to the ground and turning it into a touchdown dance is pretty great.
6. Robot Viking Versus Screen
Advantage: Robot Viking.
5. Spin of (Mc)Doooooooom
Better downfield blocking and this is probably a touchdown, but McDoom sure made it fun anyway.
4. Okay, Fine, B-plus Run Support
A-minus if you're feeling generous.
3. ...Yip?
The MGoYipYips reaction to Jake Butt's second drop of the day couldn't possibly be better.
2. Dead On
This throw:
This route:
Speight's celebration:
All impeccable. Darboh's celebration and the gentlemanly Speight/O'Korn handshake afterwards were also quite good.
FRAMES OF THE GAME: MORTIFIED PUNTER 2: PUNT HARDER
Not quite as good as the original, but the critics always say that.

Mortified punter is an easy pick, but can we give McDoom a shot? That's just incredible athletic ability.

Agree with this entirely. That play was ridiculous. Also, this is the greatest punting GIF ever (albeit not a proud moment for the Michigan faithful). I laugh every time it is posted.

As much as I miss the MGoTubes, the YipYips are hilarious. Even my wife asked, "Butt doesn't drop many passes does he?"

"Houston, we have a problem."

Not as incredible as B+ run support. I laughed out loud watching that live, and laughed out loud again watching the gif.

I remember watching that Peppers tackle (first video) and being annoyed that the commentators didn't point out that it wouldn't have been possible without Peppers. Love that you chose it to be included.
But I voted for Dead On (broadcast)... perfect route, perfect throw... but bigger picture includes two things... First, we have a new starting QB that can throw downfield already. Second, we have an offensive game plan which includes taking what the defense gives you... alleviating one of the biggest frustrations ever of the Hoke/Borgess years.

I apologize for mixing sports scoring schemes, but that was a five-point move right there!

Two reasons:
1) Great name for a mascot, reminds me of OFF-ROAD, the greatest red v. yellow v. blue racing arcade game of the 1990s.
2) I have a soft spot for Sad Gata: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8124/8610896851_c1eea65af3_o.gif

Hollman was about to take off running, and there was a split second where you could tell he realized he was about to get killed. I was hoping that would get GIFed.
Edit: here's the play I was talking about:

McDOOOOOOOOMMM

In one of the alternate angles (from the south, facing the North endzone) of the targeting hit against Eddie, you can see a staffer (not sure of the capacity) with a violent, animated reaction to the hit where he fell/jump backwards. It was hilarious and I watched it a couple times after it happened, but haven't been able to see it, since. I couldn't find it in WD's highlights.
Wondering if someone who is more tech savy (and not at work) could find that and post a GIF to this thread. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found it here http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/um-ucf-full-game at the 50:19 mark. It wasn't quite hilarious, but I still like his reaction.

Thought I was the only one who noticed that Peppers tackle all the way from center field. The way he caught that angle and accelerated through it was absolutely amazing. Those who havent played football truly dont understand the speed, timing, and explosiveness that took. If we get a couple more of those defenders, it's lights out for the country. Also the way Peppers tackles so aggressively, ripping people down. I want to see more of that from others on the defense.

OMG what an awesome nickname for Glasgow. Love it!
September 13th, 2016 at 5:01 PM ^
How many teams in all of college football have a nose tackle capable of doing what Glasgow did on that play?

should have been in the voting section.

Oh yah.. or the pass to Poggi while Speight was halfway to the ground...
September 13th, 2016 at 3:58 PM ^
Great expression on that. Love it.

From Yipsilanti? Figures. Yip yip yip.
September 13th, 2016 at 4:00 PM ^
How was this not included in the top 10?
Could there possibly be anything more representative of Harbaugh's influence on these guys than a gentlemanly handshake and acknowledgement of each other's skills at QB?
O'korn feeling the need to show a high level of respect for Speight's pure efficiency and skill, but the competitive juices can't allow for any more joy because Speight's success means that O'Korns place on the bench is sealed.
September 13th, 2016 at 4:08 PM ^
Yips can yip my yip anytime.
September 13th, 2016 at 4:11 PM ^
I could watch that Pepper hit over and over. He just explodes through the gap and crushes the QB.... Simply beautiful.
September 13th, 2016 at 4:17 PM ^
Anyone notice Mason Cole on Khalid Hill's second TD? He and Kalis blast a DT back, he finishes block 5 yards deep then just stares at him for a second. Is it too late to GIF that, Ace?

With a parenthetical aside to watch Mason Cole, no less.

The Yips are hilarious. Wasn't that right after Butt dropped a pass? That's what makes it imo, I think everyone had the same reaction

Peppers and McDoom...by far the best. Great individual plays.

are better than D'veon dragging helpless tacklers.
Idon't even care if he has bad vision, misses holes, etc.
Just to see that man run angry is awesome.

To be fair that did look like prime nail biting position rather than booger eating. I don't know. And also the yip gif got me good. When the jaw slowly drops on the blue guy I couldn't stop laughing.

The Speight-O'Korn handshake was epic.
