Toro Timecutter.  Do. Not…

Toro Timecutter.  Do. Not. Look. Back.

Unless you have a commercial-sized proprety or something 2 acres or so, then go exmark.

They're both owned by Toro.  It's honestly best in class and the warranty and customer care departments are amazing.

Four tix for Michigan Hockey…

Four tix for Michigan Hockey in Minnesota tonight, Friday below face value.  Would take $100

4 tix, Sec 15 Row 10

Can't use due to change in my own schedule. Electronic transfer of tix and venmo, no need for pickup.

Bought a 4k Samsung smart TV…

Bought a 4k Samsung smart TV.  I was not looking for a smart tv, but they were actually cheaper than those without built-in apps.

If you are close to a MicroCenter they regularly have good deals, but I would suggest Costco as the first option.

I believe Michigan games will soon be broadcast in 4k and hopefully the world cup, too.  I would hate to miss out when the 4k option becomes available for the Rashan Gary for Heisman campaign.

Agree to disagree

Worry

I'm not necessarily worried, but that shows Adidas is serious about getting into football.  What better way than to pick players off the tree pre-college, just like hoops?

Motivation

I was just connecting dots and thinking about football as the next logical step.  Of course there is no mention of Michigan or football, which would render the post and any, admittedly wild, speculation moot.

The point is that Michigan was one of Adidas' flagship college programs no less than 2 years ago.  The news is directly related to Adidas' dealings with major college athletic programs in which it had a direct interest.  The correlation between star, high profile recruits attending Adidas-affiliated universities in basketball and Michigan's juxtaposition as the same in football seemed clear.  In the time Michigan was affiliated with Adidas, its highest profile recruit was Jabrill Peppers, who coincidentally signed with Adidas after college.  I do not buy the fact that recuits attend college because Charles Woodson went to school here, but it may have gotten Hoke's foot in the door along with the alumni base.

Suspect fact patterns are not objectively true, but they raise concern however misguided.

Also, you insinuation that I'm some sort of seed-of-doubt planter and not a Michigan fan is ridiculous.

Currently and in 2013-14?

Currently and in 2013-14?  I'm not worried about now, I'm worried about when JP signed.

I am nervous we could be in for a glass houses moment

Allow me to preface this by saying that I have no first-hand or second-hand information on any Michigan player taking cash and I desperately hope none have, but I am not naive enough to believe that this is limited to basketball.

With that in mind, a hypothetical.  You are a generational football talent who grew up in difficult financial circumstances.  An athletic apparel company offers you 100k with to sign with a school with a great pedigree, poor athletic department leadership, and a desperation to get back to national prominence.  That school has a current endorsement deal with Adidas and includes an agreement to sign with them once you enter the NFL.

I sincerely hope Adidas doesn't come back to bite us in the ass and Jabrill Peppers isn't part of this one bit.   This could be me reading too much into this, but I always thought it was odd that Peppers would have signed with Michigan in the first place.

I'd like to reiterate that I don't have any concrete concern over this, but I would be weary.  The precursors could be there and we have seen that Michigan is not immune from this behavior, especially pre-Harbaugh.

EDIT:  Paramus Catholic was also an Adidas school when he was there.  So is Cass Tech and Jourdan Lewis also has a deal with Adidas.

Both!

What you would be doing is applying tie-breakers that were not in effect before the contest took place.  Assuming the first tie-breaker is Michigan points scored, based on your selection of the two finalists, and the second tie-breaker is points off of total margin of victory, both are correct.  To pick between the two now is arbitrary and un-fair.

Fortunately, unlike 1973, you can send two teams to the Rose Bowl here and extend your charitable outreach to an additional charity by splitting the (cash) baby.  More charities = more exposure.

My solution is to have the two finalists deliver a max 500 word submission regarding their charity and let the blog populace vote on the winner.  Then, let the free market mgoblog money cannon make up the differnce, thus impacting the charitable donation total and increasing exposure for both winners/charities.

I guess I'm in the huge minority

I say yes.  I am greedy.  Beating OSU 2x in the same season, with the second being for the national championship would be unbeatable in my eyes.

NOTE: in this scenario, they win the 4 v 1 game against Alabama and we beat whoever is then #3 in the other semi.

I Voted Knightro

Two reasons:

1) Great name for a mascot, reminds me of OFF-ROAD, the greatest red v. yellow v. blue racing arcade game of the 1990s.

2) I have a soft spot for Sad Gata:  https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8124/8610896851_c1eea65af3_o.gif

I am pumped.  Minneapolis to IA City is an easy easy drive.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders and Silicon Valley are must-watches if you need a new show.

Also, Parks and Rec legit made me sad when it ended because I thought it was amazing.

Love the 3-6

Defintely my favorite.

Adding North Dakota for hockey would be enormous

For Minnesota.

The local chatter on sports radio and in the sports section of the largest paper here, the Star Tribune, is hugely down on the B1G hockey conference.  They literally are non-stop pining for North Dakota or Duluth to add some historical rivalry.

Who would it suck for?  Penn State.  With some proper stoking of the fire, there's no reason in 5 years Penn State won't be one of the best programs in the country.  Penn State is 1,287 miles from Grand Forks.  Now, Penn State has the money to make that happen, but everything that far away is harder.

North Dakota may not be interested in that many non-bus trips per year, depending on how their AD budget shakes out.  The B1G would probably need to shell out some helper money.

But I am optimistic on

But I am optimistic on Connor:

HF article June 7, 2014

The next year, Connor led his team in scoring with 53 points in 40 games. 39 of those points came from assists and highlighted his playmaking abilities. At just 15 years of age, Connor committed to the University of Michigan for the fall of 2015.

“Growing up, that was my dream school,” said Connor. “I’m a Michigan football fan and Michigan everything, even my parents are big Michigan fans. When I heard they offered me the scholarship it was a no brainer.”

New Recruit

But, when does Michigan get Alexis Sanchez on Campus?
