Non-Michigan Game Roll Call

Submitted by UNCWolverine on

While there is nothing better than going to an important game at the Big House I enjoy mixing it up a bit by setting my DVR and going to non-Michigan games as well.

This year I plan to attend LSU vs. Wisconsin at Lambeau, Florida @ Tennessee, and probably a USC and/or UCLA home game later in the year.

In years past I’ve been lucky enough to see A&M upset #1 Oklahoma in 2002, a Florida/Georgia Cocktail Party Game in JAX, numerous LSU home games including the #1 vs #2 gem against Alabama a few years ago, and most importantly Albion @ Hope in that 1993 classic.

What non-Michigan games do you plan to attend this fall?

FSU and Ole Miss are playing at the citrus bowl here in orlando on labor day. I'm considering going, should be a solid game while the football appetite still hasn't been satisfied. It's also ten minutes from the house, not too often that I get games like that in the backyard.

As someone who enjoys watching the Florida/Tennessee game on TV every year, I feel it is my duty to remind you that the game is in Knoxville. You would be wise to bring ear plugs or some kind of noise canceling headphones to wear every time they play and sing that insufferable 'Rocky Top,' song. Your sanity will thank you for doing so.

Live in Nashville so I am going to try to make Vanderbilt's opening game against South Carolina.

After that it depends on if Western Kentucky or MTSU get good and play a team worth a darn and the tickets are still cheap.

Knoxville is my goal for next season.

Of CMU games. For some really dumb reason, Western is scheduled super early in the season.

UNLV is also a major university, even though they are total crap in football.

None, but I really want to attend a night game at LSU sometime in my life. It just looks so fun there.

yeah it's a great time. the best part about it is walking around the tailgates eating/drinking for free as everyone is so friendly and just shoves it at you. especially if you wear a michigan hat, they love talking michigan football for some reason.

that lsu/bama game was at night and just electric. think I made out with a random cute girl at halftime of that game. she accidentally ended up in our seats when I left for the bathroom. I figured it was my duty to kiss her before sending her on her way.

I honestly thought about going to one just to see what that's like, the experience of basically no one going to your games when they are about 10-15 minute walk from campus away. Then I realized that, as a veteran of the 1990s version of the Detroit Tigers, I have already experienced such a thing (OK, so a 35-minute drive in the case of Tiger Stadium) and I didn't have to wait until the fall to see it either.

I really want to do the Tour de SEC at some point, starting with Baton Rouge.

I've actually never been to a college game not involving Michigan. Shit, never even been to an NFL game, either...

NFL games can be fun, but they aren't nearly the same thing as a good college game.

Michigan's open date is October 15. Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU all host games that weekend. Worth noting: LSU is hosting Southern Miss, which means they won't be wearing white and unless Southern Miss is surprisingly good, the crowd won't be as live as it will be for a good SEC tilt. The Tennessee game is the aformentioned Alabama date; tickets will be through the roof.

A really intrepid (and wealthy and insane) fan would go to the Duke-Louisville game in Kentucky that Friday, stay at a hotel in central Kentucky, and then drive to Knoxville Saturday morning.

Likely the SEC title game as we are driving to Orlando that weekend and Atlanta is sort of on the way. I risk getting murdered by SEC fans for my use of my nose to breathe with over their preferred choice, the mouth. But also as my girlfriend is an Alabama fan there is a very good chance I am unable to not mock everything about her chosen team and the collection of first cousins they call a fan base. Thereby rendering me, at best in a sex free vacation or at worst single.

I'm a CMU alum so I go to their games if they are close. SInce I've moved out to Oklahoma, I've watched them play Kansas twice. This year I plan on going to their game at Oklahoma State. I've been to Oklahoma, OSU and Tulsa games here. Arkansas is on the schedule of games to go to this year. A trip to Dallas next year is already being planned.

Don't get a chance to travel to too many games from Colorado. Will be at the CU-UM game this year. Probably catch a couple of local games. My Alma Mater N. Colorado plays at Colorado State, it will be the last season CSU plays at their current stadium as they are building a brand new stadium on campus.

Might catch an Air Force game as those are always fun.

I'll be at UVA v. Richmond. And possibly a Liberty game or two depending on if I can convince my girlfriend to come with me or not. She hates football and hates our alma mater even more because....something something Falwell something politics something money something...

I have served on the faculty at Mississippi State University for 13 years. My faculty season tickets have been in the first row at the 50 yardline for the past 5 years (unfortunately on the visiting side). Sometimes I go down on the field to help my disabled 8 year-old fire a cannon when the home team scores.

This year's marquee home opponents are Auburn, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. It is an off year.

Next year, and all even years, we host Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss.

Yea I know... My Daughters boyfriends  dad is a Purdue Alum so we are all going together. Luckily though, It comes with it's perks. He has his own Jet that we're flying to W. Lafayette in for the game, and hopefully because of this,  I'll be back home in time to watch the Michigan game which is at 8PM that night.
