As a Deshaun Watson owner myself...I'd go Fitzpatrick.

09/23/2018 - 11:53am Appreciate the input! Yeah,…

Appreciate the input! Yeah, I'll likely bat this around a few times before making a final decision. I've had others tell me "just go with Cobb -- he's a safer option," as well. Thanks much.

09/23/2018 - 11:46am Absolutely agree -- I'd go…

Absolutely agree -- I'd go Breida, with little hesitation.

09/23/2018 - 11:44am Could use some assistance…

Could use some assistance here -- PPR league, for FLEX:

Would you go with WR Randall Cobb (@Washington, in the rain) or WR Chris Godwin (at home vs the Steelers, hot & sunny weather)?

I'm leaning toward Godwin...but would like some input.

Thanks!

09/23/2018 - 11:37am Definitely not; we left some…

Definitely not; we left some points on the board, for starters, and speaking of starters, if we had kept them in, well...we might have been closing in on 75+. Of course, it was fantastic that a LOT of folks got some extended work in the second half.

09/23/2018 - 11:35am Yes, it was Nebraska, but I…

Yes, it was Nebraska, but I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that this was the best first half of football we've seen out of a Harbaugh-led Michigan team so far -- quite possibly, the single best game, too.

Nebraska essentially did nothing in this game. Absolutely nothing. It's been a long, long time since we could say that about any Big 10 opponent.

09/23/2018 - 11:33am Ah. Yes. We've been through…

Ah. Yes. We've been through this ourselves. RichRod's first season was, well...um...rough on the ol' liver. Of course, we never had our "redemption" with RichRod; conversely, I DO think that Scott Frost will have success there and turn that program into something quite good, over time.

Of note, the next time we play Nebraska won't be until 2021, in Lincoln -- and then we have them on our schedule four years in a row after that.

09/22/2018 - 9:47pm The QB, LaRussa? Off the…

The QB, LaRussa? Off the bench? Just amazing. What a performance.

09/22/2018 - 9:44pm This is stunning, tho --…

This is stunning, tho -- regardless of the outcome.

What a crazy day of college football, and we're far from over. Makes you really appreciate a 56-10 victory!

09/09/2018 - 12:24pm Appreciate it. That's what I…

Appreciate it. That's what I was leaning toward. That FLEX starter is just bothersome, because of RB-by-committee in both Indy and New England, but I'm thinking with Edelman out, White becomes a de facto receiver, too.

Thanks!

09/09/2018 - 11:58am Need some advice today,…

Need some advice today, folks, for my PPR league:

QB?

Deshaun Watson @ NE

Andrew Luck vs. Bengals

(I drafted Watson first, but damn -- Luck against the Bengals, in a dome, is tempting me...)

And FLEX? Pick ONE.

Jordan Wilkins (RB) vs. Bengals

Randall Cobb (WR) vs Bears

James White (RB) vs. Houston

Thanks!

09/04/2018 - 2:00pm "It's because I'm sad, not…

"It's because I'm sad, not mad..."

Man. That sums it up pretty perfectly for me. Maybe it's because I am older, too, and not nearly as fiery about games as I used to be, in my 20s and 30s (the 2005 OSU game in AA and 2006 game in Columbus nearly broke me), and yeah, a lot of it is the constant losing of big games, which lowers expectations...but yes, I'd have to agree with this assessment.

09/01/2018 - 2:22pm I think the most interesting…

I think the most interesting aspect of this game, and one that I'll be focusing on, is how well TCU's defense fares vs OSU's offense.

TCU, if I'm not mistaken, put together a very solid defensive effort in 2017 overall (I think I recall that they were top 10-15 in Defensive S&P?). Oregon State, meanwhile, was near the VERY bottom.

09/01/2018 - 2:13pm Big day for me, as I have…

Big day for me, as I have both alma maters in action in some fairly interesting games: Miami (NTM) vs. Marshall, an old foe, coming up later this afternoon, and Cincinnati taking on the Fightin' Wiltons out in California tonight.

AND, of course, the tilt in South Bend to top it all off.

Is there anything better than college football Saturday?

09/01/2018 - 12:47pm Oregon State is garbage, but…

Oregon State is garbage, but...Haskins is a damn good QB.

09/01/2018 - 12:19pm A few folks I know who live…

A few folks I know who live on my street are at the OSU/OSU game -- and I can vouch for your statement.

09/01/2018 - 12:14pm Well, they were 38.5 point…

Well, they were 38.5 point favorites for a reason. OSU (the West coast one) just ain't a good team.

09/01/2018 - 12:08pm Yeah...it wasn't even a …

Yeah...it wasn't even a "slap on the wrist."

09/01/2018 - 12:07pm Texas State v. Rutgers,…

Texas State v. Rutgers, clearly, is what the first full college football Saturday is all about.

08/31/2018 - 12:56pm For me, a win would make me…

For me, a win would make me very happy indeed. I'd likely commit to cleaning the garage on Sunday, even -- and cheerfully do so.

A loss would bum me out, and I'd likely be a little mopey on Sunday. However, I think that would be forgotten (at least mostly) by the following Friday, when I'll be journeying northward to Ann Arbor for Saturday's game. The first Saturday at Michigan Stadium is one of my favorite days of the year, and a loss to ND the previous week isn't going to change that.

08/26/2018 - 3:57pm Crap.

Well, it's been than…

Crap.

Well, it's better than 10-12 weeks, that's for sure.

08/26/2018 - 2:13pm Dunno -- I think it's hard…

Dunno -- I think it's hard to take very much (either way) from that statement. We're just gonna have to wait and see. The injury exists, and there's little doubt in my mind that he's gonna miss time. We just don't have a clue yet as to how much.

08/26/2018 - 2:04pm Right now, I'm seeing…

Right now, I'm seeing relatively low chances for t-storms in South Bend on Saturday (25-30%); that said, it's one of those deals (likely) where if it does rain/storm, it's gonna be heavy. But hey, today is only Sunday. It's not really worthwhile paying any kind of real attention to a forecast this far out.

08/22/2018 - 9:10pm Weak. Sauce.

Weak. Sauce.

08/20/2018 - 1:00pm No no no -- we play "Mr…

No no no -- we play "Mr. Brightside" at games, man.

08/20/2018 - 12:42pm To quote (or at least…

To quote (or at least paraphrase) WD:

Beat Notre Dame.

08/20/2018 - 12:37pm A week or so ago, I was 100%…

A week or so ago, I was 100% convinced that Urban wasn't going anywhere, but that Gene Smith *might* serve as the fallguy and be canned (how in the HELL is he still there, anyway?). Now, though? I'm not really sure what to think about all of this mess.

06/01/2018 - 3:39pm Welp.

Shit.

This is NOT how to begin a weekend.

05/30/2018 - 10:26pm That’s my alma mater.

Cincy Moeller. Yeah, I used to wear my Michigan block M hat to the games, while in school—and still did when I took in occasional games from time to time. It’s not quite the same shade of blue, or the proper UM block M, of course, but hey—close enough.

05/27/2018 - 9:25am Cavs will win Game 7 tonite

If Korver were out, I'd pick the Celtics. Love? Eh. I don't think it will matter.

I know that -- so far -- the home team has dominated this series (and, for the most part, it's happened in the Rockets-Warriors series, too), and I know that Boston has been pretty unstoppable at home, but...I think LBJ does his thing tonight, puts up 40+, and the Cavs take it in a very close game at the Garden.

05/15/2018 - 8:58pm Well....

I don’t think Steven Wilson’s ‘To The Bone’ has exited my rotation yet since it was released in August 2017. Other than that, been listening to a ton of stuff in the Wayfaring Strangers series on vinyl. Anyone else dig those?

05/09/2018 - 12:38am Go Iowa.

Does the 12-5 upset typically hold in softball, too? Here’s hoping.

05/07/2018 - 6:09pm Penn State.

For sure.

05/07/2018 - 5:35pm Ha!

I love it.

The answers:

1. Elvis

2. He rescued the gator, the UF mascot, from certain doom after Elvis took a bite out of a Georgia free safety.

(The backstory on Detective Sonny Crockett was that he played WR for Florida).

I only know this because I just started watching MV on Hulu.

05/07/2018 - 9:32am Trivia question

No using the Google machines.

What was the name of the alligator owned by Sonny Crockett—which he kept on his boat—on the TV show ‘Miami Vice’?

Bonus question: why did Sonny have this alligator?

04/28/2018 - 2:23pm Sweet!

Go Big Mo!

04/28/2018 - 1:51pm Yes.

FWIW, I read that Mo is NOT off of the Cowboys' board.

So...

04/28/2018 - 1:45pm Grant Newsome just Tweeted this:

Understand it’s a business decision and health concerns can be scary to teams. But you’re telling me that a kid with repeated arrests and failed drug tests is a safer investment than a kid who’s been cleared by Harvard doctors and played at an All American level?

04/28/2018 - 1:21pm The bottom line

I just hope Mo plays football again, whether or not he is drafted. I hope that his medical issues don't prevent him from seeing the field again. We all saw (many of us in person) what Mo is capable of doing. He was a wrecking ball in the Maize and Blue.

04/28/2018 - 1:10pm Obviously, we'll go undefeated.

/thread

04/28/2018 - 12:50pm It's best not to think about it too much.

There's a whole lot of huge plot holes big enough to drive trucks through in these films, but that's gonna happen anytime you have a film series with the premise being "well, here are these stones, and each has an INCREDIBLE ability associated with it." The rules kinda have to be made up (and adapted) as you go along.

04/27/2018 - 11:35pm Fun, but....

What a hot mess. And I get it. Anytime you have a cast that big, that is bound to happen. Still, this was a lot of fun to watch, and I loved how it ended.

04/21/2018 - 6:15pm Yup...

I admittedly did not even look at their schedule. You’re absolutely right.

04/21/2018 - 5:56pm Still hunting that signature (read: big) road W.

A win at Notre Dame would likely fit the bill. ND might not be a terrific team in 2018 -- but, at the least, I'd say they are good for 8-9 Ws, right? Winning there to kick off the year would set the tone, regardless of how ND ends up doing.

04/06/2018 - 10:39pm I’d argue early 90s.

But I know I’m a fossil. I saw my first WWF house show at Dayton’s Hara Arena in 1986.

04/02/2018 - 9:13pm Sing to the colors that float in the light!

LET'S TIP!

04/02/2018 - 8:53pm Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

I think TNT is airing the "pro-Michigan" broadcast tonight...

04/02/2018 - 11:36am 4 losses.

But yeah, your points are still valid. They can be beaten. They have been beaten. And hopefully they’ll be beaten this evening.

04/02/2018 - 10:49am In my pool...

I picked a Michigan v. Nova final game, with Nova winning.

Even though there's a bit of money involved for me tonight if Nova wins -- I'd finish in first place -- I've never wanted to be more wrong, EVER.

To hell with the money. GO BLUE!

03/31/2018 - 11:32pm I’m in Columbus right now.

Ah yes. It was glorious.
