Friday Schadenfreude: Florida board Eubanks meltdown

Submitted by SAMgO on

Florida must have wanted this kid pretty badly judging by the seven page (and counting) thread bemoaning his Michigan commitment. Here's the link: http://florida.247sports.com/Board/14/Contents/TE-Nick-Eubanks-commits-…

Highlights include:

"Harbaugh kicked our butt on the field and looks like he can swoop in within a few weeks and take our recruits, as well."

"Well Nick, you better hope that you really love your new dorm room. Because you're gonna be snowed into it for 5 months out of the year. College life is supposed to be fun, not a jail sentence. I sure hope that, "Hello Walls", is his favorite song. Because he's gonna get to know the 4 walls of his dorm room real well. In no way could I pick a school strictly for the football side of it. Living in Siberia for 4 years isn't my idea of a fun. Chomp! Chomp!" (I personally always love the internet tough guys that are scared of non-tropical weather)

"I concede Michigan won the post-2014 coaching carousel. They really lucked into having Harbaugh as an alum and the fact the 49ers ran him off. But he's a one of a kind hire, the guy spent his summers as an NFL QB helping his dad with recruiting and scouting as some kind of unpaid, volunteer assistant at WKU.

The stories of Harbaugh on the trail remind me of Meyer."

EDIT: Best one in the whole thread -

"It's literally all about the sales pitch. Not record, not head to head, not stats. Its how you sell it. Just so happens we have Michigan beat on almost all those things they sold but they know how to sell it and we have the worst staff of recruiters relative to the program in the entire SEC. You could take almost any staff and put them in this same situation UF is in now, meaning new staff, 10 wins, ATL, favorable depth chart, 28 ships, PT everywhere, instability everywhere else, loaded state every year, etc and they'd produce anywhere from the number 1 class to something better than this."

Did we not just beat them into submission in their own state?

If so.... yeesh. Gotta be tough to get any decent non-defense recruit there now that their offense is inept. If a kid is on the fence about going to Florida, a visit during the miserably hot summers and students yelling "CHOMP CHOMP!" would make my decision to go elsewhere easier.

Also, Florida is America's wang.

Florida weather is nice for a day or two, then it's just a constant struggle to not sweat through every item of clothing you're wearing.  Sitting around in air conditioning all day sure is a blast!

Well after that beautiful ass kicking we gave to the swamp folk earlier this month, it's not hard to see why a kid would choose to come Ann Arbor over Gainesville.

But yes I will agree. Michigan lucked it's way into getting Harbaugh. All parties involved were in the right situations at the right time. No question about it.

It's almost like the OSU-Meyer situation. OSU has a shit year marred by controversy, and then somehow one of the best coaches in the business happens to be "taking some family time," is an Ohio guy, just happens to be available, and falls right into their lap.

It always cracks me up how Southerners are so afraid of the snow.  Their whole façade of "toughness" vanishes the instant a flake falls from the sky.

Not surprised they're mad. We weirdly own Florida and have caused them pain in multiple sports the last 15 years. Don't think that could be said about any other non B1G school.

Michigan people can be here on one short flight or day long car drive to enjoy the beautiful winter then back to Michigan to enjoy the beautiful suummers when it's a miserable place to be here in Florida. BTW, the nasty heat and  humidity here lasts all the way through September, the Florida people bitchching about siberian winters always foroget the nasty mugginess here lasts March through September at least.

You get the cold winter and the hot weather if you go home for the summer. If was only based on weather, I think M would struggle. But the opportunity to play for an elite coach at a legendary program is probably the real consideration.
