I am with TK. The rain is a weak excuse. It wasn't even raining hard the whole second half.
|09/13/2018 - 11:56am||Very few teams have gone…||
Very few teams have gone undefeated in recent years. Look at the past National Champions, only 3 of last 10 went undefeated.
2017 Alabama (13-1) lost at Auburn in game 12. Now UCF was undefeated but easier schedule.
2016 Clemson (14-1) lost to Pitt at home in game 10.
2015 Alabama (14-1) lost to Ole Miss at home in game 3.
2014 OSU (14-1) lost to VT at home in game 2.
2013 Florida St (14-0)
2012 Alabama (13-1) lost to Texas AM at home in game 10.
2011 Alabama (12-1) lost to LSU at home in game 9.
2010 Auburn (14-0)
2009 Alabama (14-0)
2008 Florida (13-1) lost to Ole Miss at home in game 4.
Oddly, most of these teams lost a home game, not on the road.
With the playoff including 4 teams, you have a great shot at making the playoffs with only 1 loss and I would think it would almost be a guarantee if you have 1 loss and a Power 5 Conference title, especially with a Championship game. But their is no margin for error once you lose. You need to run the table although LSU in 2007 made the Championship game with 2 losses (12-2). They had lost at Kentucky in game 7 and at home to Arkansas in game 12.

Oddly, this will be the third time I have been to a game with SMU. I saw SMU beat Arkansas in 1984 at Texas Stadium as a high school kid when I lived in Dallas. I also saw Texas beat SMU in Austin in 1986. That was SMUs last year before the "death penalty" ended the program for 3 years. SMU was an uppity school then, maybe they still are. The visiting fans had shirts that said something along the lines of "Our gardeners and maids went to Texas".
Really a huge fall for SMU. From almost winning the national title in 1982 (finished #2 at 11-0-1) to the death penalty to falling out of a Power Conference.
Michigan should roll

Hard to tell from those views I think. The one looking up is not straight up the goal post and you don't know when it passes the goal post on the one from the kickers view.
I will say that no one has a better view than the ref staring straight up.
Given that there isn't a camera shooting straight up, I get why they are not reviewable.
What is considered good anyways? Center of ball inside center of post?

I am going but 0 for 4 historically there (90, 98, 02, 14). Hoping for better.

ND already plays M, MSU and Purdue somewhat regularly. My guess is they aren’t looking for more Midwest exposure. They did play in the regular season in 1995 and 1996 when M-ND took a 2 year hiatus.

What is Maples? I live sort of near Derby and the guy across the street from me has a Maples flag he puts up sometimes.

My son applied to M Engineering as an instate student in 2015 with a 3.84 gpa from a good private school and a 32 ACT and got deferred then denied. Both my wife and I are M alums as well
He ended up going to Purdue and loves it so maybe it worked out.

Better traction on my 2013 Shelby GT500. Given the horsepower, be nice if some larger tires fit back there without having to replace the wheels.

Clean look. Hope the infrastructure is better so it doesn’t crash during big M events.
|05/31/2018 - 6:20pm||The funny part is the games didn’t start at noon back then.||
Until about 1985 or so, all non TV games, which there were quite a few, were at 1 pm. Now this is only an hour different than noon but it’s not that different than 3:30 either. Now there were less games to watch then too.
|05/31/2018 - 5:52am||More anecdotal||
I agree with mGrowOld. I dumped my tickets after the 2013 season, mainly due to DB. I had been a season ticket holder since being a student in 1988. He had the AD headed in a horrible direction and thought nothing of “misrepresenting”facts. My favorite was when he announced season hockey tickets were going to be cheaper. He never mentioned that there were less home games and he moved a M-MSU home game to Soldier Field that was not part of the season ticket package. Cost per game actually went up. Note: M hockey is a little weird in that you have to renew your season tickets prior to knowing the schedule.
Unlike mGrowOld, I resumed being a football season ticket holder in 2015 (actually got better seats too) once DB was booted out and Hackett and Harbaugh were brought on board.
|05/02/2018 - 7:26pm||Never Muskie fished in Ohio||
They do catch them from shore on Lake St Clair, especially in the fall. They cast big rubber baits like Medusa’s and Pounders.
|05/02/2018 - 7:14pm||Maybe just a bad day.||
You could try varying your depths. I like the minnows between halfway down and a couple feet off the bottom. Also, I do better with sucker minnows than golden shiners.
|05/02/2018 - 12:49pm||Hmm||
I would think that area would be good for pike on tip-ups.
My suggestion would be try it at first ice and fish near and in the weeds with sucker minnows.
Ice fishing seems to slow mid-winter.
|05/02/2018 - 12:47pm||They are really awesome fish.||
Tough, big, acrobatic, easily accessible.
|05/02/2018 - 12:46pm||Depends on the body of water||
I fish mainly big water and trolling tends to be the most effective. This is especially new when starting out as you cover more water and have more lines in play. A Lake St Clair setup is generally 6-8 lines out on planer boards pulling body baits at 4 mph anywhere from 5-12 feet deep. On the St Lawrence, planer boards are less used and lures are more stacked vertically as the water is deeper.
Where do you intend to try it?
|05/02/2018 - 12:29pm||What type of fish?||
Boat or shore?
|05/02/2018 - 11:49am||some other gear||
Necessary: small pair of needle nose pliers for unhooking fish. Hat, sunglasses, suntan lotion, snacks for little ones.
Nice to have: a small landing net in case you hook a larger fish, a stringer in case you intend to keep fish to eat.
|05/02/2018 - 11:44am||Where were you ice fishing?||
My buddies and I had some pretty good success in the metro Detroit area. Some pike on various lakes and tons of perch on Lake St Clair.
|05/02/2018 - 11:41am||My two favorite fish to target are Muskies and Tarpon||
I fish muskies on Lake St Clair and the St Lawrence River mainly, starting in June and going through December.
Tarpon in South Florida, mainly the Keys. I go next week for the annual trip.
Been walleye and bass fishing a lot this spring and it has been great. In fact the bass fishing has been phenomenal. In four bass trips, me and two others have caught 97 Smallmouth along with 3 walleye and 2 muskies. 6 of the Smallmouth have been over 5 lbs although barely, none over 5 lbs, 5 oz.
|05/02/2018 - 11:35am||Interesting||
So I guess I am an alumnus of the University of Texas as well as Michigan as I went there for my first two years before transferring. Not sure UT considers me one as the donation office hasn’t hit me up once.
|05/01/2018 - 11:57am||Shorten the season, expand the playoffs||
Fans love watching playoff games and fans love watching the drive to make the playoffs.
Have 16 teams make it, do four rounds of 7 game series. End the regular season Labor Day weekend which probably means a season has 140 games or so.
This solves the season dilemna, next need to speed up the games.
|05/01/2018 - 11:51am||I like this||
But I would also say shorten the regular season by a month. Around 140 games is plenty.
|05/01/2018 - 11:45am||On grass or field turf still?||
might move more like baseball
|04/19/2018 - 12:25pm||Coin flip method might be generous||
I feel like they get it wrong more than half the time.
|04/19/2018 - 12:23pm||I dont know really||
It seems so clearcut that he was mislead by Ole Miss and that combined with the NCAA's track record of generally doing the wrong thing makes it seem to me that it is almost inevitable that he will not be eligible.
|04/13/2018 - 11:10pm||Looked like I picked the right weekend to go to Arizona||

|04/11/2018 - 12:00pm||I disagree||
They could play part of the game.
|04/10/2018 - 6:57pm||Liverpool in 2005||
Came back in the finals from down 3-0 at half to tie it up and win on penalties.

Watching on my phone. Crazy!
|02/18/2018 - 7:59pm||Yep||
5 point lead over Minnesota in B1G standings. They have 2 games in hand but at PSU so it will be tough.
Not sure who gets higher seed if we tie.
|02/18/2018 - 7:55pm||SWEEP!||

Shots 37-31 Michigan. Go Blue!
|02/18/2018 - 7:50pm||1:31||
Goalie pulled. Face off in M zone.
|02/18/2018 - 7:47pm||3:09||
Face off outside M blue line.
|02/18/2018 - 7:40pm||It’s on B1G network.||
|02/18/2018 - 7:28pm||A sweep of ND in hockey definitely more impressive||
Than beating OSU in B.B. when favored, even if just by 1.
|02/18/2018 - 6:48pm||I think it would help||
The formula is 25% our winning percentage, 21% our opponents winning percentage and 54% our opponents oppenents winning percentage. I would think a tie would count as half a win and half a loss. So our winning percentage would only go down slightly, mainly offset by NDs going down anyways and then the 54% part is the same either way.
|02/07/2018 - 12:44pm||AA Torch and Pitchfork will be in full force||
If we have another year like 2017. I dont think Harbaugh will get fired barring 5-7 or worse but back to back 8-5ish seasons will have him on the hot seat.
|01/16/2018 - 5:26pm||Fast would be my number 1.||
Love fast cars. Fortunately have been able to have many over the years - a few Mustang 5.0's, a 2005 Corvette and currently a 2013 GT500. I like dependability and ruggedness as well. While not fast, loved my 2000 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0L straight six.
|01/15/2018 - 12:26pm||In 2016, M beat Top 10 Wisconsin in Football||
Wisconsin won the B1G West. M also steamrolled Penn State who won the B1G in 2016. What qualifies as a big game?
|01/14/2018 - 8:41am||What about every Little League game?||
Hey batter, batter, batter, batter......
|01/13/2018 - 2:55pm||They were 28 for 35||
Although it felt worse as they started 19-19 so just went 9 for 16 down stretch.
|01/13/2018 - 2:51pm||Who downvoted this?||
|01/09/2018 - 7:29pm||To watch on TV, I prefer 9||
But to go I would prefer earlier. Many M fans that go live in Metro Detroit and being an hour drive plus walk to car from Stadium means getting home after midnight. Late on a work night.
|01/09/2018 - 7:03pm||The dream would have been that Carr||
Stepped down after 2006 like he wanted and we got Saban.
|01/09/2018 - 11:25am||We are a long ways away||
We likely have a good enough defense.
But our offense needs to be better all around. Those teams had better QB, RB and O line play. We may be comparable at receiver and TE. I think it is the coaching more than the talent. As others have posted, we have highly rated kids and we have also put quite a few in the NFL. We need a Don Brown level OC. And position coaches like Mattison. Maybe we get there, maybe not. Just depends how cutthroat Harbaugh wants to be.
I think the biggest difference is that college football is near life or death in the South. Not so in Ann Arbor. I am not sure the Southern approach is right, but it does drive accountability. Just look at the last 10 champions: Bama 5x, Florida, Clemson, FSU, Auburn and OSU. Thats 9 teams from the deep south. And OSU borders on having that near life or death approach.
On the bright side, our kicker seems much better than Bama's!
