05/25/2018 - 8:43am B school class schedule flashback

Classes only Mon-Thurs, so I had Friday Saturday Sunday every week to do nothing, and my grades show that I succeeded.

05/23/2018 - 11:07am I've had days where it seemed like I couldn't do anything right

MSU is having one of those years.

05/22/2018 - 3:50pm I had never seen the Crean steamrolling before

That is tremendous.  Tom's position and facial expression afterwards rival even the Shon Morris interview pic.

And yes I sure wish he had done that to Izzo.  It might have topped Tim Hardaway Jr trying to join in on the Izzo-Appling conversation in 2013.

05/07/2018 - 9:40am I thought

you guys called them Joeys.

05/07/2018 - 9:39am Yes

I am 6'1" and I remember being pleased with how roomy the XL Twin was compared to the regular Twin I had at home.  I also remember seeing guys like Trezelle Jenkins and Juwan Howard in person and wondering how they slept in dorm beds.  I guess they curl up.

05/03/2018 - 11:24am You haven't heard him out

He said that he would reveal more about his departure later.  I suppose he's too busy with the snowplowing business.

I know it wasn't Boren who said it, but some former OSU player was barbering on about how great Boren was going to be for OSU and extolled his physical prowess and "1% bodyfat."  Ha ha ha.

BTW there is a puff piece out there featuring Zach Boren saying this: "Coach Meyer maintains a family atmosphere during practice and he and my family blend together because they preach the same thing."

04/24/2018 - 2:20pm Maybe she's English

signed,

Claude Cattermole "Catsmeat" Potter-Pirbright, Augustus Fink-Nottle, Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps, Algernon Wymondham-Wymondham, and Cyril Bassington-Bassington

04/20/2018 - 3:23pm Dio made him do it?

You guys have gone so respectable in recent years.

Seriously, that seems like a really long time to make the Cube inaccessible.  I hope the results are worth it.

04/19/2018 - 8:52am I remember being very surprised that something

actually happened during the Saturday show.  Plus I was hooked into the face vs heel dynamic, which I attribute to my being 12 years old at the time.

04/19/2018 - 8:33am I worked all summer and used that as my spending money

Theoretically this allowed me to focus on my studies during the school year, though my grades didn't reflect that.  I think about how much time I wasted during undergrad years.  And that was without the internet!  I'd flunk out today I think.

I had enough money to do some fun things but not enough to go crazy.  My first girlfriend lived in a Tower Plaza condo that her parents had bought.  She referred to the Comerica ATM as a "money machine" and I think the word choice was relevant - that was how she thought of it.  Spending was a source of tension between us.

A girl I dated later was an EMU student and to her I was rich.  We were both a bit more frugal.

My parents saved and paid my out of state tuition, and since they were both UM grads and raised me to think that UM=college, that was very stand-up of them.  I wonder what it will be like when my kids go off to school, because by the time my first grader goes, UM's out of state tuition might be $100k/year.  I loved my time at UM but there's no way that's worth it.  It will be scholarship or go somewhere else.

04/18/2018 - 3:34pm I think it's attracting bugs

not turning into bugs.

04/11/2018 - 9:20am The Princess Bride documentary was great

Shot well after the film was, and included on the DVD.  Mandy Patinkin in particular said some very poignant things about Andre.

04/11/2018 - 9:17am Mean Gene

was tremendous.

04/11/2018 - 9:03am Given the way he plays, my first thought was

Whose meniscus?

04/11/2018 - 9:01am Akin to the distinction between

major surgery and minor surgery.

04/05/2018 - 10:52am Anyone can make excuses for people they like

Apparently holding people you like accountable for misdeeds is more difficult.

04/05/2018 - 8:46am Unfortunately

I think there are many others.

03/27/2018 - 3:08pm Perhaps I've been living in UM fan fantasy land

but I don't recall Wagner shoving or elbowing people.  I've seen him commit ill-advised over the back fouls and I've seen refs call fouls on his belly.  He commits fouls out of zeal but I don't think out of malice or harmful recklessness.  I don't see Patrick Beverly, Zaza Pachulia, Matthew Dellavedova, JR Smith, or Bill Laimbeer in his game.

Please tell me if I'm wrong.  I suppose there are Duke fans who think Grayson Allen is a misunderstood saint.

Nick Ward and Tom Izzo dragging Mo into the mud when they're the ones being assholes is pretty rich.

03/23/2018 - 11:25am My 11-year-old chalked the driveway last night

with some very nice flowers and the words, naturally in all caps, that SPRING HAS SPRONG.  It has indeed.

If only Brady texted the way he spoke.

JOHN UH I UH THINK WE HAVE UH A REAL GOOD FOOTBALLTEAM AND UH I AM PROUD TO BE THEIR UH FOOTBALL COACH.  FOOTBALL.

03/23/2018 - 11:12am Penultimate Friday in Lent

Probably a veggie or tuna salad sub.

03/23/2018 - 11:10am Had them

It was crazy.

03/23/2018 - 11:01am A&M hit 57% in the 2nd half and scored 44 points

And we still pulled further ahead.

03/22/2018 - 8:51am Fezzik Teske to Aggies

I am here, but soon, you will not be here.

03/22/2018 - 8:49am I'm wearing my maize Jumpman polo today. I'm ready.

Maize maize maize.

03/20/2018 - 12:11pm Blowhard State

Enough about the victims, let's talk about me.

Also, he forgot to mention Princess Lacey.

03/16/2018 - 8:39am Well, her son's team lost to MSU in the BTT and is done

for the year, so she has plenty of free time.

03/15/2018 - 2:06pm Sounds like nothing

a little Tobasco wouldn't fix.

03/15/2018 - 2:05pm The larger the German body

the smaller the German bathing suit and the louder the German voice shouting orders in German to everyone who does not understand German.

Es tut mir leid, Herr Wagner.

03/15/2018 - 8:27am Thank you

Johnny Weir

03/13/2018 - 11:25am My dad remembers some great headlines wrt Dearborn Divine Child

These were rare opportunites because DDC was so successful at sports, but the headline writers seized them when they were available, e.g. "St. Mary abuses Divine Child."

03/12/2018 - 1:49pm Gloves off, stick down, no warning...

he challenged the Chiefs!  Called us names!

03/07/2018 - 3:33pm volgruden

dot com

02/23/2018 - 12:58pm A

I'll believe in Izzo's downfall when I see it.  He is Rasputin without the swell beard.  He's the best thing MSU has going and they aren't going to let go of him without a fight.

02/21/2018 - 2:23pm I was going to suggest Boston College's uniforms

Fredo strikes again.  But your response has terrific ambiguity.

02/21/2018 - 1:23pm The action, video quality, and repetition make me think that's

Benny Hill.

If I had to pick a Michigan-related hill to die on, the one in Wurster Park is nice.

02/08/2018 - 2:48pm Unfortunately

our biggest rival does sign top 10 classes year after year, and so do the teams who are legit contenders for national titles.  It feels like a remote possibility that we will ever be that.

02/08/2018 - 2:45pm Oof. It hurts to see that in black and white.

Five guys out of 27 that had good to very good Michigan careers:

Gardner
Black
Dileo
Ryan
Hagerup

A whole lotta outbound transfers or "quit football"s plus what I assume is a record number of guys who never played in a game for Michigan.

02/06/2018 - 10:14am I'm concerned about his eligibility for intercollegiate sports

since Kyle Grady is already a post-doc fellow in Language and Literature at Michigan.

02/05/2018 - 3:46pm Milk steaks for everyone

and magnets.

01/29/2018 - 4:40pm Excellent

KBA raised the bar but they hadn't entered the national picture before.  So happy for them.  Team is fun to watch too with the inside-outside movement.

01/29/2018 - 4:38pm Not sure what the right path is

The red C is dull as toast, that's true.  I have bought some Indians gear recently but avoided the chief on principle.  This is a gradual phase-out.  People will still wear it, but I'm glad they won't produce any more.

If they ditch the team name they should resurrect Spiders.  The tough part is that the final Spiders team (1899) was historically bad, having been gutted by their owners when they moved all the good players to their other NL team, the St. Louis Browns.

They could do all kinds of fun marketing with Spider mascots.  And I can't think of any other teams with that mascot except the University of Richmond, so there wouldn't be any confusion.

01/29/2018 - 8:52am You know what Brenda Tracy tweeted like in the 80s

but how she tweets now is crazy!

01/19/2018 - 9:11am If he makes a mistake on the field and Michigan wins the game

the death threats from his own fans should clear this all up for him.

01/09/2018 - 2:51pm What if "Not Tom Brady"'s twitter handle was notantwright?

Mind blown.

Try not to be so negative, NTB.

01/09/2018 - 1:32pm What do you mean by "rolaubsolid?"

I can guess the meaning from context, but I was wondering if I had missed some neologism that was taking the board by storm.  I Googled it and the only result was this page, with some users' avatars as the image responses.  A completely new word?  Whatever it means, I like it.

01/05/2018 - 2:11pm Offensive staff?

Rich Rodriguez, Lane Kiffin, Gary Barnett, Andy Moeller, Mike Debord, Hugh Freeze, Mike Locksley, Mark Mangino...are those guys offensive enough?

01/05/2018 - 8:51am Strange program

They were almost always terrible before Guevara came along.  She got them to pretty good but then fell apart at the end.  That was followed by several years in the wilderness.  KBA has done very well, some big wins here and there and her worst season was 20-15, which would have been among the best for any of Michigan's previous head coaches.  I hope she can keep it going.

Not much success against a generally strong Michigan State program.

The Big Ten is so undistinguished at women's hoops that you have to be at the top to even make the NCAA tournament, e.g. last year we finished 3rd but still ended up in the NIT.

12/28/2017 - 11:21am Rich Rod is trying to set some kind of record

for the number of games in which he and his team are caught unaware by Purdue's aggression.  Giving up 48 points in 2008 when trying to install a new defense in a week, giving up 28 in the second half the next year and getting punked by Danny Hope and his handshaking pugilist lineman the next year, now this.  Preparation and situational awareness: D.

12/28/2017 - 11:16am I watched our game vs Purdue at a kid's birthday party

without sound, so I didn't get the back story.  During games I exchange texts with two buddies from MoJo days and asked them "who is the 80s movie villain on the Purdue sideline?"

Michigan is unstoppable at Samuel's birthday parties.  He is nine and I have watched Michigan beat Notre Dame twice (both Rich Rod wins) and the Colorado and Purdue games from the past two seasons.  Those first two were particularly delicious given the bevy of Catholic OSU fans and one now-BIL who's a Notre Dame fan in attendance.

12/20/2017 - 10:43am Ausgezeichnet!

Vielen jahren seit ich studierte Deutch, aber ich weiss noch ein bisschen.  Wilkommen, Herr Welschof.
