X Worthy sets 40 record
Xavier Worthy set a new record 40 time at the combine with a blazing 4.21. Imagine if he had stayed at Michigan, having that speed to go along with Wilson and Johnson. We won the NC without him of course, but the offense would have been even more dangerous.

I loved that two of the first people to congratulate him were JJ and Roman.
Josh probably congratulated his mother, again.
We had a much more athletic WR on our team ...
Corn John also is extremely intelligent - had an elite SAT score and I think he won the team chess tournament. Dude is an outstanding talent (naturally with brilliant, accomplished parents).
He looked great in the combine drills, and faster than I expected.
Considering we were the best team in college fb this year I’m not too concerned how much better we would have been with worthy, Jerry rice, Ronnie Lott, dick Butkus, etc.
we won every game meaning we were perfect. Not much higher to go from there!
Just think how much better Butkus would have been if he had Barrett to learn from. Talk about your what ifs.
Considering we were the best team in college fb this year
And 40-3 over the past three seasons, with three consecutive Big Ten titles. Michigan fans don't need to have any regrets about 2021-23.
Love that Johnson tested well. But in today's game with Tyreek Hill and Zay Flowers...those little fast guys are featured in offenses.
The thing about Worthy is he's always had straight line speed, but his agility is what is in question.
So far he's more DeSean Jackson than either of those guys I mentioned.
I don’t think Zay Flowers has reached tyreek level yet
Had a rough last game of the year to boot.
Based on some recent accusations it sadly seems Flowers might be following in Hill's footsteps when it comes to assaulting women off the field.
Xavier Worthy (or any WR coming out of college, really) could do a LOT worse than to have DeSean Jackson's career: 15 years in the league, multiple Pro Bowls, and $90M+ in salary.
Worthy def has track speed and football speed but he had issues with drops in college IIRC. Also I wonder why someone like him doesn't participate in the receiver drills.
Drops, and watch him try to block someone. I guess since the NFL does not run anymore, it won't matter. Lions would be a hard pass for him.
"Worthy def has track speed "
Not really.
Worthy ran 4.21
Usain Bolt ran a 4.22 in a pair of street shoes, wearing a jogging suit, at age 37 - two years after retiring and stopping training.
Anyone know what Romans score was ?
Romans 3.23
More athletic? While CJ's RAS was higher than Worthy's, that was due to their size difference. Worthy scored "elite" in the athletic categories and Corn was "great".
I get what your saying, and do somewhat agree with you. But one is a football player. One is a track guy.
There is a reason Usain Bolt and Arnold S@(*#&$%#(*@&$#(@er are not NFL HOF'ers.
that's fast, but if you really want fast, check out Gattis moving in on his mom
sorry
i would like to apologize again to all children
and blind people
Stop apologizing for good jokes. People that neg a good joke tell us more about them than they do about the joke...
#SpeedInSpace
Wait what?
Yes. What you’re thinking happened. It’s yes.
Got dam
Speaking of (and yes, that's Gattis's real account) ...
What the hell
These guys spend months now preparing for these drills to juice their times. The 40 time matters much less than how you use that speed on the field. The previous record holder, John Ross, was a major bust in the NFL.
Ross was a track guy who had one good seaon. Worthy was a star from the moment he set foot on Texas' campus. He's proven he can play at a high level.
The only question is...is he Mecole Hardman, DeSean Jackson, or his he more?
I haven't seen the change of direction to see an All-Pro, but he's got the speed and hands to be a weapon in some capacity. Plus punt returns.
Yeah, Worthy isn't a one-trick pony when it comes to being a WR, and this likely solidified his first-round grade. The lateral quickness is a bit weaker as is his size, as NFL corners and safeties that can get hands on him are going to slow him down. Plus, he had a lot more stops in college than I expected for an elite WR. But the dude can fly and in the right offense he'd be really scary.
Raiders are on the clock.....
I get what you're saying, and you're right.
But I'm choosing to enjoy our National Championship, instead of lamenting anything. Hell, I'm not even thinking much about "well, going forward....."
Nope, National Championship. That's gonna hold me for a while.
Wish he came here, but he did what he felt he had to do. Could’ve won a title, but oh well.
C’set la vie.
I bet XM>>>>>>XW
Especially on skates.
Thanks, Gattis.

That’s great and all, but 165lbs? Needs to bulk up for the NFL.
If Worthy was at Michigan, Ben Herbert would have beefed him up to more than 165#.
And with all that extra beef he probably would not have run a 4.21.
Happy for him setting this record.
Could have had a national championship ring with it too, his loss there. Go Blue!
I doubt Worthy would’ve fared much better than Henning. The track record here for using Worthy-types isn’t good. Hopefully that changes w/ Semaj.
I got Semaj being more like Jeremy Gallon than Worthy.
He would have won 3 conference and 1 national championships. I say that's faring significantly better..
Give me Roman Wilson in the NFL over XW
He is a twig at 165lbs. No way he is blocking in the Big 10. He would not have seen the field if he would not participate in blocking. Will see how he fares in the NFL with the big boys
