Chris Simms calls Harbaugh a Jerk in Interview [Today's HARBAUGH thread]
In an interview on the Dan Patrick show, Chris Simms called Harbaugh a jerk and accused him of making up the NFL offers to hype himself up...and if it wasn't enough, he also claims he could take Harbaugh in a fight. “He’s a scary SOB, and he’s weird, and he’s tough, there’s no doubt. But he’s not taking me now at my age.” So...I guess some people never grow up.

I thought "tell your dad I said hi" was code for "I know why you have this job, and you know why you have this job, so let's stop pretending you deserve my respect when you ask dipshit questions."

Typical blow hard talking head mentality that can be seen from most of these on TV types. Skip and Steven A invented these characters that scream the most ridiculous hawt takes in order to gain clout and attention. Worked well financially for them but now too many TV clowns follow that same formula and unfortunately this type of nonsensical rhetoric is a byproduct of their overzealous and envious monetary pursuit.

I heard this interview the other day. You're absolutely right, Phil, sports talk shows have become unbearable over the past 10 years or so. Ironically, Dan Patrick is the only one I still listen to with any regularity because he seems to avoid that crap. Buy sometimes his guests do not.

“Skip and Steven A invented these characters that scream the most ridiculous hawt takes in order to gain clout and attention.”
I think this shit started earlier with Jim Rome.

Ya'll are getting awfully butt hurt from what a guy living off his dad's name has to say.
Also it's a Dan Patrick shtick to ask who would win in a fight. Lighten up folks.
January 22nd, 2022 at 6:31 AM ^
Chris Simms was third-team all-Big 12 so clearly he’s a pretty big deal and worth listening to.
January 22nd, 2022 at 9:20 AM ^
Wonder if he has a chip on his shoulder because every football fan's first reaction when they hear his name is 'don't you mean Phil'
January 22nd, 2022 at 11:16 AM ^
As a lukewarm NFL fan, I admit I was like, "Who?" Googled him and then said, "Oh, Phil Simms' son."
January 22nd, 2022 at 6:53 AM ^
Today’s media is all about generating clicks and an emotional response. So, there you go.
January 22nd, 2022 at 6:55 AM ^
The only thing worse than making up offers, is falsely accusing someone of making up offers.
This sounds like Chris has a classic case of affluenza.
January 22nd, 2022 at 10:15 AM ^
Well by all reports he hasn't been offered anything. Why I don't believe Jim made up the interest, I do think him saying "this years rumors are more fun" makes me believe he in some way set this motion either force UMs hand at a reworked deal or to leverage them into laxing some of the standards that keep Michigan at a disadvantage.
January 22nd, 2022 at 11:04 AM ^
Well, there is a difference between referencing rumors and claiming a false offer - this type of comment further affirms the shame in mischaracterizing the truth with manipulative language.
January 22nd, 2022 at 7:00 AM ^
Yeah well the jerk store called and they're all out of Chris Simms.

This is from the guy who was essentially the "JJ" of his time and could never play well enough to not have to be relieved by Major Applewhite aka "Cade".
January 22nd, 2022 at 7:19 AM ^
This is a weird and inaccurate straw man argument regarding JJ. I would expect nothing less from you.
JJ is a true freshman who was consistently excellent in his appearances in a championship season. He was so good as a freshman, in fact, that he played the majority of our 2nd half minutes in the most momentous Michigan football game in this millennium.
Piling on Chris Simms is fair game, but trying to link JJ to Chris? That’s just your typical weak and illogical troll job. Do better next time.
January 22nd, 2022 at 7:27 AM ^
Youre getting illogically irritated because of past things I said. The comparison is only because Simms was the super hyped five star recruit and Applewhite was the reliable but seen as a lower ceiling guy. It has zero to do with how it's played out here so far or will play out here. Calm down.
January 22nd, 2022 at 8:15 AM ^
It has zero to do with how it's played out here
That's kind of the definition of a bad analogy then lol

January 22nd, 2022 at 7:27 AM ^
Actually, I think Jim would find a way to win such a fight rather decisively, for he is weird, but in a way that produces "I never would have thought to do that..." moments.

don't forget, harbaugh is also tougher than a $3 steak. no way he's losing to that guy. nope.
January 22nd, 2022 at 8:17 AM ^
I remember when the saying used to be “tougher than a $2 steak.” Damn inflation!

With inflation, a 2 dollar steak is tougher than ever!
January 22nd, 2022 at 7:27 AM ^
I saw this and didn’t think it was threadworthy. (Did you hear that to those who think I start too many threads?)
Some people have Harbaugh rub them the wrong way. There’s also countless stories from others about selfless things he has done that far outweigh the negative comments toward him.
January 22nd, 2022 at 7:44 AM ^

I must admit it surprised me that it wasn’t you that started this thread!

Chris is lying. He claims that his coaches in SF did not know he had left SF and was taking the UM job. They heard about it when Jim called them on the phone and said I’m here in Mich you go figure out your career
There was a public announcement about Jim leaving SF early February. It was almost a month later when Jim was announced as UM’s coach. Some of his coaches had already accepted other Jobs.
January 22nd, 2022 at 8:57 AM ^
The entire world knew Harbaugh was getting fired from SF, and had known the entire last half of the NFL season.
January 22nd, 2022 at 9:04 AM ^
Your memory is playing tricks on you.
SF announced they had mutually parted ways on Dec 26 amid multiple media reports that Harbaugh had already agreed to take the Michigan job. Two days after that, December 28, Michigan formally announced Jim as their new coach.

This has the makings of a Jim Everett / Jim Rome face off. Oddly, all of the same first names are in play (Chris Simms vs Chris Everett).

Awesome find from 2010!
Synopsis: Phil threatened to hit Desmond for being critical of Chris’ quarterback play - security had to intervene on the emotionally unstable Simms.
January 22nd, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
i never even knew there was a Matt Simms. DH wasn’t wrong, in 2011 Matt played in 7 games, threw for 319 yds on 27 of 62 for 43.5%, ZERO TDs to 3 INTs. he somehow made it into a handful of Jets games and put up stats almost as bad, but to his credit he did have 1 NFL TD pass.
January 22nd, 2022 at 12:03 PM ^
My only real memory of Phil Simms is when he played the Bears in the playoffs in January of 86. I was just a kid but I remember that he made the mistake of mouthing off to Richard Dent early in the game. I remember that Dent either sacked him or hit him (almost always late) for the rest of the game. Bears 20 - Giants 0 and a very tough day for Phil.
January 22nd, 2022 at 8:06 AM ^
Chris Simms was THE poster boy for overhyped college QB for a while, repeatedly failing to succeed at Texas before losing his job to a less heralded recruit (Major Apple white) who actually won big games for Texas and set a bunch of records. So I can't help but sniff a bit of jealousy from a guy who was given every opportunity to succeed and couldn't. Hell, a reason he's even in the media is because his dad made the transition and so he had an in

If I recall, about 10 years ago Desmond said on Game Day (or something) that Chris was garbage and UT couldn't win with him at QB. Phil then went on a radio show (or something) and said he was going to find Des and kick his ass. #SimmsSnowflakes

Chrissy Simps has an axe to grind. And he needs a new barber. That haircut makes him look like Bryan Singer's new love interest.
