Did they say the same about the Chips, who got pasted at home against the worst program in college football?  That would be a rich preemptive call prior to their week 4 loss. Hey whatever makes them feel better.

09/09/2018 - 3:45am On a positive note LJ Scott…

On a positive note LJ Scott hasn’t fumbled in 2 games.   But he only had 87yds and 18yd rushing performances in those games.  As a team they ran for 63 tonight, hardly in imposing stat line.

Playing sportscenter catchup to see the action that occurred between UofM win & MSU loss. Most surprised that ND had a tough time with BallzTaint.  Maybe they were looking past their opponent but the Cardinals are not good.  A&M got screwed on a fumble out at 1 not thru endzone.

Following what should have been a INT by SMU on 3rd down, the snap goes high on the punter who picks it up, drops it and it goes through the endzone for a safety making it 9-0.  Sloppy field.  Sloppy game by TCU thus far, getting outplayed by SMU.

Michigan 42 Western 10.  Running game will get on track, should have a couple 100yd rushers.  Establish multiple targets for Shea prior to B1G.  Hope 5 wide set never comes back.

Gary also runs the risk of being drafted by the Lions, who after finishing 5-11, will have him in their sights.  If that’s the case he may be back!

09/03/2018 - 10:41am As a Western alum and…

As a Western alum and Michigan fan i watch both teams closely.

Key losses on D were Sam Beal, CB-NFL Supplemental Draft, Darius Phillips,CB (TDs at MSU-fumble return & punt return) NFL draft, Robert Spillane, LB - UFA Titans, Steven Clark, best DT, medically retired.

4 big losses on all levels to a defense that wasn’t great last season.  Major issues: Pass rush still nonexistent, containment of a running QB-see Syracuse game, coverage vs taller receivers.   Those weaknesses play right into the wheelhouse of Patterson’s strengths.  I expect a dominant performance from UofM.

I am not convinced that the former hero QB is a very good coach, similar to the prevalent thoughts on this board.  Tim Lester and his howdy doody smile are infuriating.  Bonehead decisions cost us last year.  Not sure he is up to the task at Kzoo???

09/03/2018 - 10:23am Syracuse took Dungey out…

Syracuse took Dungey out when they were up by about 30.  His backup did nothing.   The only thing encouraging about that game for my Broncos is that they fought back.  While their backup was in Wassink did work.  O-Line, strength of the team, held up the entire game and allowed Wassink to find receivers in the 2nd half. Eskridge and Bellamy are serious weapons with 4.32 & 4.4 speed.  Unfortunately they put Dungey back in and we had no answer for his athleticism.

Michigan will fare better but not necessarily put up 55.  I look for more of a ball control offense.  Establish the run.  Let the O line get some positive drives together.  A healthy dose of Higdon and Evans.  Western will not be able to keep Gentry, McKeon, Eubanks in check.  The losses of Sam Beal to NFL supplemental draft and D Phillips to the League leaves huge holes at CB.

Michigan receivers will find space while Shea is able to sit in the pocket.  I’d hope for better play from the special teams, specifically the field goal unit and punt returns.   I thought last year that DPJ did a poor job and he put us in a bad spot at the 2 against ND.

I’ll stick with my preseason prediction of:

Michigan 42 WMU 10

I hope both of my teams make it thru this healthy with some improvements over last week.

09/02/2018 - 10:58am Same comments have been…

Same comments have been spewed about Matt stafford.  When the Lions run game ave just above 2 ypc and converted about 0% on 3rd and short rushing situations it’s not the QB.  It’s just very convenient to scapegoat a QB when the offensive pieces aren’t functioning.  It’s a machine.  People need to remember that Shea hasn’t played in a game for almost 11 months.   He will be better, already played better in situations than last seasons QBs.  I like an early test to gauge where we are at.  The gross overexaggeration to 1 game is stupid.  Funny how people love to use “Steel sharpens steel” until they get cut.

09/02/2018 - 9:59am A lot of non-believers in…

A lot of non-believers in Shea Patterson after 1 tough game on the road.   We have to remember that he hasn’t played in a game since October of 2017 and coming off knee rehab.  He’s picking up a new offense with new teammates.  That doesn’t get ironed out in a few months of practice.   Clearly he had to shake off rust.  O-Line and play calling didn’t help, that’s been covered ad nauseam.   Remember the hot takes on how terrible Ruddock was after Utah?  We’d have taken Ruddock back in a heartbeat last season, right?  People need to step back from the ledge.   Let the line gel and SP get in a groove.  For God sakes do not go 5 wide again!   Like a starting pitcher he wasn’t the sharpest last night but he fought through it to have a shot at tying and he’ll have great games.  Maybe in a few years we’ll wish we had 1 or 2 more season with Shea at QB.

09/02/2018 - 9:14am We did near the goal line to…

We did near the goal line to go 1st and goal from the 5 to the 2yd line.  The following play I believe was the sack to the 10 from the shotgun.  We should’ve stuck with power run game and gotten 6 that possession.

09/02/2018 - 1:30am No matter how bad I was…

No matter how bad I was pulling for Utah st or App St, those games would’ve been catastrophic to your formula.  I am not standing on the ledge following this game.  We got better with Ruddock after the Utah game.  Shea has the ability to get better as he gets accustomed to scheme and playmakers.  Coaches can and better improve as well.  Let’s not pretend that Shea was not a top tier QB out of high school as some have asserted.

09/02/2018 - 1:19am Could it be that David Shaw…

Could it be that David Shaw was the straw that stirred the drink while Harbs was at Stanford?  Was the OC for his time there and now successful as HC at Stanford.

09/02/2018 - 12:13am I think Shea will do fine. …

I think Shea will do fine.  But I agree that Mccaffrey was in a zone.  Looked more in sync with the offense and was running more efficiently.  When plays broke down he tucked and ran forward for what he could get.  Who knows how much the cramping affected Shea and his mobility down the stretch, but I believed Dylan deserved to finish.

09/01/2018 - 11:37pm Why go 5 wide empty…

Why go 5 wide empty backfield?  Time and again it resulted on pressure on our QB and no positive results.  Throw that formation out of the playbook please.

Michigan 27 ND 19.   Nothing crazy.   Just stifling Defense.  A DEEP purple faced Kelly inserts backup in the 3rd who proceeds to sh!te the bed.  Eubanks with a big game, TD, 100+ receiving and a crushing block.

Ironically they lost because of this.  Dirty rat bastards deserved it.  I’m still pissed about the no call on the DT that went super fly snooka on Speights neck.

08/30/2018 - 4:24pm I would be shocked by a 10-2…

I would be shocked by a 10-2 season.   I wasn’t impressed by Tim Lester’s first season at the helm with NFL talent at CB, OT & LB + loaded backfield at RB.  This season my Broncos are lean at CB & DT and break in a new LB corps.  Strengths again are RB & OL.  I expect at least 7 wins but not expecting more than 9.  Should be a good game tomorrow at waldo.

Don’t forget that 22-21 win at Evanston to start the 13-0 season a couple years ago.    One of the docs I work with went to NU med school and he was pissed.

Not sure if I want NU to clean Purdue’s clock because of the Speight incidents last season.  Or should we pull for Purdue to start strong and the Brohm to (insert next big opportunity) rumors begin, so that Karlaftis has doubts about going there?

I will be watching my Alma Mater, WMU, Friday night as they open at home vs Syracuse.  Should be a good game.  CBSSN.
