Really glad he’s having success. UCLA looks pretty good on Offense and Defense. I like their “sissy” blue uniform. I’ve always thought it look sharp used to play them in NCAA.
Also really like our backfield.

No I selected it while watching the 2019 Wisconsin game…
Thanks for bringing up those memories ?

Blake Corum had 212 All-Purpose Yards.
I'll take that and more, please.

^^^THIS.
Go Blake! Go Blue!

No doubt about it:
Jay Harbaugh can recruit a RB.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
Yes, but is he too good at recruiting RBs, and is this just further evidence of nepotism?
September 9th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
Hope he wins it every week, happy he’s getting it done while closer to his hometown.
September 9th, 2021 at 10:49 AM ^
Hey did you know that I am happy for Zac C., but honestly I only care about the guys who play for Michigan.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:28 AM ^
I did know that about you. Or I knew it about somebody.
September 9th, 2021 at 10:49 AM ^
I knew who had posted this as soon as I saw what it was about.

Happy that Zach is finding success at UCLA.
Zach will likely continue to find success at UCLA as the season progresses, barring injury.
UCLA might end up having a good season for the first time in years.
Perhaps consider celebrating this on a UCLA message board going forward.

Here ya go, Zeke:

How many more Zach Charbonnet posts are we going to have to endure?
Because the subtext of each one is a criticism of Jim Harbaugh and/or the rest of the coaching staff.
Players transfer. It happens...for a variety of reasons. And while Michigan has had maybe a larger-than-average number of transfers over the past five years, the fact is that the vast majority transfer because of the lack of playing time...and end up at smaller schools and/or less successful programs.
We have a stacked RB room. Let it go. Let it go. Let it goooooo.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:25 AM ^
I totally agree. We literally have people in some threads wringing their hands about Blake Corum not getting enough touches, and perhaps needing to take them from Hassan Haskins.
Hassan Haskins is really good, averaging 5.5 yards a carry and gets tough yards. He starts for a reason.
Additionally, Donovan Edwards looks exactly like we thought he was -- hard-running, violent RB with speed.
And we're supposed to have room for Charbonnet? He's good, particularly at the second level. But there's only one football, and he was wise to go to UCLA so he could see it more.
Enough of these posts.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
He looks like a completely different player this year. Injuries must have hobbled him during his time here more than we knew.
I'm happy he's doing well and happy with our RBs, but it frustrating how uneven Michigan recruiting has been at times where we have a log jam of talent at one position but a five alarm fire at others.
September 10th, 2021 at 3:58 AM ^
Yup. We fixed the OL just in time for the DL to crater. I blame Brown less for the DBs. We would have been fine there last year if Ambry had played. Not much depth but still.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:27 AM ^
He'll put up good numbers there, but ucla will lose to a few under dogs like always.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:35 AM ^
I'm happy for Charbonnet but it's pretty clear he'd be fighting for carries at UM so it was a smart move to head out.
I would also add that LSU's defense looked...rough in this game. There may not be a ton of tough defenses in the Pac-12 so it may not matter but LSU definitely feels like a team under Orgeron that is going to be mediocre on defense despite having great talent. Like, they were 124th last year in total defense and while they'll be better this year because they were absurdly inexperienced last year (almost as inexperienced as UM), they looked like the same poor-tackling team I saw last year.
September 10th, 2021 at 3:59 AM ^
Even Stingley looked bad tackling. Not sure what's up with that.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
Ezekiel's Creatures??? More like Charbonnet's Fluffer.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:56 AM ^
I regret that I have but one upvote to give
September 9th, 2021 at 11:37 AM ^
I'm happy he's found an uncrowded RB room and seems to have a stranglehold on the September Heisman. But do we need an update every week?
September 9th, 2021 at 11:42 AM ^
Several years ago, I met a lady at my college roommate's wedding who I was really sweet on, but it didn't work out largely because of loving in different states. However she met someone a few years ago and married him and I'm really happy for her and I am gonna make an MGoThread about it if it's not too OT
September 9th, 2021 at 1:16 PM ^
This would be less weird and obsessed than what the OP has become.
September 9th, 2021 at 2:42 PM ^
And then detail it with statistical analysis of how former lady is working out in her role with her new "team"
September 9th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
Generally I am pro "loving in different states"
September 9th, 2021 at 5:13 PM ^
I just glad you didn't meet one of Ezekiel's creatures. Out of state or not.
September 9th, 2021 at 6:58 PM ^
I met a lady at my college roommate's wedding who I was really sweet on
I'm confused. Were you sweet on the wedding, the college roommate or the lady you met?
it didn't work out largely because of loving in different states
Sounds promiscuous. Perhaps if you had kept your "loving" confined to one state?
September 9th, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
Personally I'm a fan of hearing how the transfers are doing, so long as Michigan is winning. So long as the QBs and RBs we retained are kicking butt, it's nice to hear those who transfered out are doing well, unless they've bad mouthed Michigan.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
That's fair. I'd recommend http://touch-the-banner.com as Magnus does a weekly rundown of all the transfers, so you can see how everyone beyond Charbonnet does.
September 9th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
Did you hear that a former M walk-on qb set a record for the number of TD throws in a game? I'm thinking about making a post.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:58 AM ^
I’m glad he’s having success. I’d also prefer the combination of Haskins/Corum/Edwards to having those 3 plus Charbonnet. This is one of those win/win situations.
September 9th, 2021 at 12:09 PM ^
The Pac Ten must really suck if 117 yards rushing and 1 TD is the top offensive performer.
September 9th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
First of all, that league has been made for a MINUTE. But also UCLA was the only team who really played a decent team and I'm sure that played a part as well.
September 9th, 2021 at 3:06 PM ^
Lots of strange things about that game. ZC only had 11 carries, good for only 3rd most on his team. His avg yards per carry was high but interesting how they are still very much a RB by committee operation.
September 9th, 2021 at 12:11 PM ^
"The Terminator"? So we are not only making weekly threads about ZC, but giving him nicknames now as well?
September 9th, 2021 at 7:04 PM ^
Wouldn't it be cool if ZC's middle name started with an A? Then his nickname could be ZAC.
September 9th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
Charbonnet projected to be a very good collegiate running back. Unfortunately things didn't materialize for him at Michigan. I am not surprised that he appears to be taking his game to the next level now at UCLA.
September 9th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
Jesus Christ, man. Enough is enough.
September 9th, 2021 at 12:26 PM ^
I'm sure he will eventually have a bad game and all the folks who don't wanna hear about Charbonnet will be sure to let us know about it. ;)
Honestly, transfers happen all the time and it's pointless to obsess about it. But I think with Charbonnet (and with McCaffrey too), it's a simple trust issue. If you trust your coaching staff, you figure there must have been good reasons for why things happened the way they did, and you move on. If you don't trust them, well that becomes a little harder, so these transfers have to some extent become symbolic for the staff's judgment.
As with everything else, success will be the ultimate indicator though. If Michigan wins 10 games then all that will be forgotten including Charbonnet. But if we go 7-6 or something, and Charbonnet has a good season at UCLA then, fairly or unfairly, it will be seen as another nail in the coffin of the current coaching regime.
September 9th, 2021 at 4:14 PM ^
Its silly to pin transfers on coaches when no one knows anything about the circumstances. These are young men and in ZC case he was far, far from home during a once-in-a-lifetime (so far :) ) global event that made everything in life harder. So one can assume anything..and yeah the coach haters are going to put everything neg on the coaches...but to me its just noise..unless someone brings credible info to the table.
September 9th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Good Lord, man. Give it a rest.
September 9th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Michigan vs UCLA in the Rose Bowl. Book it.
September 9th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
Let's pretend Charbonnet doesn't leave. Who do you want him taking carries away from on our current team?
September 9th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
Absolutely, the era of stockpiling talent is over, except for a couple teams (like Alabama, OSU) where the RB might wait for their feature year in a National Championship run.
But even in that scenario, Corum, Edwards may develop to the point where it is clear even a successful-at-UCLA level ZC wouldn't be RB#1 next year, so would end up transferring anyway.
September 9th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
Good for him. RB Room was over-crowded here. He clearly made the best decision for himself.
