1. Yes
2. Nico Collins :(
3. 10-3
4. 49-13
5. Best - WRs (although underutilized) Worst - can I say kickers?
October 29th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
Would argue that the WRs were way overhyped this year. Are they good and have a lot of raw talent? Sure. But they've also dropped a TON of passes in critical moments (PSU) and honestly, the least hyped receiver-type-object (Bell) has been the best by a significant margin.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:26 AM ^
You might be right, I see them as 'most talented' as a group, but yeah the drops this year have been alarming to say the least.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:23 AM ^
Moody is good. He missed the one against Army but otherwise inside of 40 he's pretty much a sure thing.
Can't blame him for the 58 yarder against PSU that was on line, just came up short.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
Moody has been alright, I don't have great confidence when we line up for FGs, but then again I'm sure a lot of programs feel the same way.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
He has missed 3 FGs in his 2 years. 2 of them were over 50 yards (PSU @58 and Florida @52) and then the Army one just sliced wide. And that's with 19 total FGA so it's a large enough sample size to draw conclusions from.
Hasn't missed a PAT either. His kicks track well, are end over end, and rarely move a ton within the uprights. He doesn't have a Stephen Gostkowski issue where everything slices and it comes down to whether it slices too much.
Like I said, anything inside of 40 yards I'd call him automatic (as far as college kickers go). 41-49 I'm still 95% confident in him.

Related: has there ever been a bigger kicker recruiting flop than Quinn Nordin? After the whole tree-climbing sleepover incident and all; what a let down for that kid and his career.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:07 AM ^
He started out really well, but yeah no idea what happened.
Kickers, IMO need to have a very monotone personality to smooth the bumpy parts that come with the job. Nordin is very, very aggressive for a kicker and can swing wildly from almost going after a guy who dove in to block his kick, to being a normal kicker.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:15 AM ^
The tree climbing was at David Long's house. His little sister lost a ball in a tree and asked JH if he could get it.
October 29th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
Ahh ok. That makes more sense. He was definitely worth climbing a tree for.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:12 AM ^
That's fair, part of it was me struggling to find a group I could decidedly call a 'weakness' and the other part was lumping in Nordin's stats with Moody's and seeing a 54.5% FG rate.

1. I doubt anybody really knows at this point
2. Nico to draft and Tarik in the portal
3. 10 - 3 (sorry, not beating OSU this year)
4. 49 - 10
5. Honestly can't answer..... Seems like every unit has been bad at times and good at times....very weird
October 29th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
If Nico leaves for the draft then Tarik will have more playing time. Had to check the participation report to see if he even played this past game because he wasn’t even targeted once in this game.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
I agree on Tarik, and we really do not know if he has any lingering issues from being out two years due to injury. There are only so many footballs to go around
If DPJ and Collins leave, then Tarik comes back as the #1 outside threat, I think.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
I understand that our inability to get the ball in the hands of our WR is a big factor, but its still crazy to think about how much of a non factor he and DPJ have become. At the same time, if I am being honest, if both of them were better options and as good of athletes as advertised then surely they would be more of a focal point in this offense (Ronnie Bell). Both seem like great guys and are good players, so I would love to be wrong about them.
I don't think DPJ should declare. I think he needs another year with hopefully a more pass oriented offense next year.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
I hear what you're saying, but given how little Tarik has been involved, I just think he'll look for a fresh start next year. Total speculation on my part
October 29th, 2019 at 11:40 AM ^
Not agreeing with the idea of the portal, but there’s no one who is a better candidate for a medical year than him.
i also agree DPJ and Tarik should be back next season. I know DPJ has aspirations of being a surgeon like his dad, but he’s also super smart. He could very well be graduated after this season. I’d personally like to see them all back, I think Nico could push his stock to day one or early day 2 if we air it out a bit more next year. The other two have all the tools to be in the same boat
October 29th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
Speaking of fresh start - what the hell happened to Josh Ross?
October 29th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
Injured. Might redshirt at this point
October 29th, 2019 at 1:59 PM ^
Speaking of injuries, maybe I missed it but what is the injury report on Bell?
October 29th, 2019 at 12:37 PM ^
Exactly how I was going to answer except that I was going to go out on a limb and say yes to #1. +1 to you.

8-5? Did you miss the game last week? Have you seen how bad MSU is this year?
October 29th, 2019 at 10:42 AM ^
Maybe they think Indiana finally bites us in the ass after coming pretty damn close in 4 games under Harbaugh.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:17 AM ^
That's exactly what it is.
Plus, vs MSU under Harbaugh, the home team has lost every game. Weird voodoo stuff always happens against MSU. I've been bitten in the ass way too much when I was feeling confident about beating them, so I just assume a low scoring loss until proven otherwise.
October 29th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
I could see 8-5 happening. I doubt it will happen, but a surprise loss to IU, OSU and another unmotivated bowl loss. . .
Crap, now I feel bad and need to watch the ND beatdown again.
October 29th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
I mean the home team has lost every time but the better team has won every time.
2015: Playoff bound MSU beats 10 win Michigan
2016: 10 win Michigan beats 3-9 MSU
2017: 10 win MSU beats 8 win Michigan
2018: 10 win Michigan beats 7 win MSU
The only one you could argue is 2015. If MSU doesn't win on the flukiest play in recent CFB history, both teams are 10-2 in the regular season instead of 11-1 vs 9-3. That being said, the trend holds true. MSU has needed said flukiest play and a monsoon to beat Michigan twice at Michigan, despite having the better team both times. This year, Michigan looks emphatically like the better team so far (and unlike 2017 we have enough of a sample size to know what each team is this year). So unless you think MSU is better than Michigan this year, the only reasons to pick MSU is MSU voodoo magic BPONE.
October 29th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
With MSU, you always assume there's going to be some weird voodoo magic.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
You mean 2015 MSU playoff imposter 0-38
October 29th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
For some reason, MSU still lives in a lot of people's heads. Even though the evidence suggests they've been nothing but an average team over the last several seasons and the program and Dantonio are coming in for a hard landing.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:45 AM ^
I’d consider Dantonios landing to be extremely soft considering the millions he’s made for coaching a middling football program and being basically unscathed by all the moral injustices and variable crimes he’s been involved in
October 29th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
Yeah because even when we've beat MSU it's been close. It's the only thing they have to play for this year.
October 29th, 2019 at 2:58 PM ^
2016 wasn't all that close...MSU got a lot of sad points
October 29th, 2019 at 1:55 PM ^
That was true last year and our win was not as comfortable as it should have been based on the "on paper" results leading up to the game.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
I would be really pumped about 10-3 and if Nico is the only one leaving early that would be a win for us. If Nico leaves I can’t see Tarik transferring.
And my answer for best position group would be OL. It took a while, but I think they are there. Worst is a tougher call. You could almost say qbs at this point but it’s really because Shea has struggled. Hoping he has begun to turn the corner.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
1) no
2) Nico and DPJ
3) 10-3
4) 34-13
5) a. Turning out to be our Oline.
b. TE’s
October 29th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
1. No
2. I can't think of anyone who definitely should
3. 9-4 (not very confident we'll ever win a bowl game)
4. 45-10
5. recency bias says running backs are best
Worst - special teams

1. Where can I find a clear, close-up video of the girls flashing at the MLB game last night?
2. Is it normal for men in their late 40s to get bloated and gassy when they drink beer, forcing them to give up their favorite beverage?
October 29th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
re: #2, Protip: if you quit drinking it out of a funnel, you won't be so gassy.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
Also, my wife has been telling me she mixes in some anti-freeze with my beer, wine, and anything else I drink (Prestone works best, she says) to eliminate gassiness as well as to add some sweetness.
It is working. Heck, she now puts it in my coffee instead of sugar! WHO KNEW???
October 29th, 2019 at 10:40 AM ^
We'll be watching this on Forensic Files.
October 29th, 2019 at 10:57 AM ^
Why? Because my car will overheat because Im out of Prestone?

October 29th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
- Captain America? Could be useful on third downs
- Ren Hefley
- Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen, will definitely be listening to this record after the bowl game
- 55-5
- Gunner and gas station coffee is by far the weakest.
