OT: What music are you listening to?
It's a slow day, so I'm going to bring back an oldie but a goodie:
What music are you listening to lately? I'm a music nut and I'm always curious about where I can expand my horizons. These are the artists/albums I've been listening to lately
Pedro the Lion's new album "Phoenix"
Geoff Farina's "The Wishes of the Dead"
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats self-titled album
Kids See Ghosts self-titled release
Weezer's "Teal Album"

EDM is boss. Trance is my favorite sub-genre.
February 20th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
Everything...in random succession. Mozart, The Steel Wheels, Cat Stevens, Pete Seeger, Carrie Newcomer, ABBA...whatever I like.
February 20th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
Been hitting Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon a lot lately. Lake Street Dive, and this British guy called Rømans (this track Uh Huh), and The Neighborhood - Sweater Weather, Mayer Hawthorne (A2 guy) - The Walk are some other frequently played.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
I used to work for Mayer Hawthorne's dad in A2. I probably knew Mayer (Andrew) when he was 8 or 9 years old (I think that he just turned 40). I'm old.

February 20th, 2019 at 1:37 PM ^
Hell of a cover!!
February 20th, 2019 at 2:08 PM ^
Ha - I was just going to post this. Denzel on vocals, Harts on guitar, what's not to love?!?! Denzel absolutely kills this. Can't wait to hear his next cover...
February 20th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ^
Saw that the other day and honestly it's one of my favorite covers. He really brought the anger for that

Love Khalid
February 20th, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Listening to her album on youtube, released this week; this was the early single release. Great song. She has really grown into a great lyricist. I also love her song with Chad Kroeger when they were married called Let Me Go.

Nothing will ever top "Skater Boy"!!!
February 20th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
Sk8ter Boi
February 20th, 2019 at 1:41 PM ^
She was married to, for all intents and purposes, Nickleback?! Wow
February 20th, 2019 at 1:47 PM ^
They were a heck of a Canadian power couple for the 2 years they were together! Thankfully for everyone, they are still good friends.
Also as a side note, Avril suffered through the worst of the symptoms from Lyme disease. Took a couple years to recover, but now she's back!
And some dude in South America started a blog rumour that Avril died and was replaced with a clone. She has obviously denied those rumours.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:10 PM ^
....you mean the clone denied the rumors.

Coldplay
February 20th, 2019 at 1:46 PM ^
Inappropriate homophobic slurs notwithstanding, I still cannot hear the name Coldplay without thinking of this scene in this movie to this day...

Listening to Weezer's version of "No Scrubs" is both amusing and frightening.
They should've done "Waterfalls".
February 20th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
Love the 'Take On Me' cover by Weezer. But if you never listened to Relient K's cover album, you should give it a go (Relient K - Is for Karaoke EP). I personally enjoy their versions of Africa and EWTRTW more than Weezer's. Oh and make sure to give the 'Motorcycle Drive By' a good listen.
February 20th, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
Take on me cover is nice, but I find I prefer the original. Aha had better voices.

Bruce Springsteen on Broadway! Intimate, acoustic Springsteen!
February 20th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
My very first concert was Springsteen in Crisler Arena on October 3, 1980. I was only 15 years old and had to meet my mom for a ride home at 11:30.....so I missed it when Bob Seger came on stage to sing "Thunder Road". I don't harbor any ill-feelings 39 years later.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:05 PM ^
one of my best friends: anything hendrix:
February 20th, 2019 at 2:17 PM ^
Almost forgot Chet Baker and Miles Davis who i have been listening to a ton lately. Mainly on Vinyl. have a whole vintage set up to listen to vinyl through a Marantz 2240 receiver, pioneer PL-71 turntable, and Acoustic Research AR-4 speakers. threw an ortophone red needle on the turntable too. phenomenal sound. i'm a bit of an audiophile.

Us & Them probably my favorite song by Pink Floyd. I approve.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:22 PM ^
Saw Laith live at Arts Beats &Eats a couple years ago. So good.
February 20th, 2019 at 3:03 PM ^
watched laith al-saadi get sentenced in circuit court up here a week or so ago. interesting guy. i think he's a michigan grad or at least a michigan attendee. was one of the more well-spoken defendants i have ever seen allocute in court.
February 20th, 2019 at 3:20 PM ^
yeah we both went through michigan at the same time. he was in the music school. a few years ago he had an injury and then got hooked but is now 100% clean and working at fixing the bs. he literally called me to tell me he was clean and whatnot because i disapprove of that bs.
February 20th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
it was a really ticky-tack beef. and all that was presented completely supported your comment about him getting clean. good for him.

February 20th, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
My favorite artists are Tony McGuinness, Jono Grant, and Paavo Siljamäki, forming the group Above & Beyond. EDM is my primary genre. It's the world's genre, actually.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
Decided to mix it up and listen to the Grateful Dead - 7/13/1989 at RFK in DC on Sirius Dead channel
February 20th, 2019 at 2:15 PM ^
There were a lot of really good performances at the GRAMMYs last week - by people who usually put on great performances, but the surprise moment had to be this collaboration!
