09/20/2018 - 12:37pm Question for you X and O…

Question for you X and O types:  On one of the clips in this post, Nebraska's linemen all lay down/go low at the snap.  I noticed that a couple of times from SMU also.   What is going on there?   What is the O trying to accomplish, and on what sort of play is that tactic supposed to be productive?

Thanks in advance.

AMC Gremlin.  1979.  I was 14 years old.  My 18 year old buddy had been working multiple double shifts at Kroger and was sure he would fall asleep at the wheel and kill us both.  So he taught me to drive stick in a church parking lot in Springfield, MO, crashed in the back seat, and I drove us to Terre Haute, and he woke up and took us the rest of the way.

For the life of me I can't understand why elite WR prospects aren't lined up wanting to play at Michigan a year after The John O'Korn Experience.

Wish I could upvote your for saying that.  But, alas, I can neither up nor downvote at present.

Embarrassed that I forgot Gene Hackman.  That guy played so many roles, so many ways, and was just awesome.  Good guy, villain, tough, vulnerable, funny.  That man could do it all.

I would really like an answer to this question, too.  I've seen it asked several times in various threads, but never answered.  I did a search, didn't find the answer.  Maybe there is some kind of inside joke that I'm missing.

05/31/2018 - 8:51am Right Guard

Playing right guard in his Hudl highlights.  He's a real mauler.

05/30/2018 - 9:39pm Moeller

Football powerhouse.  This is the HS from which Jerry Faust went directly to head coach at Notre Dame.  Didn't work out all that well.  Moeller has been an MSU pipeline.  Glad to see that possibly coming to an end.

05/26/2018 - 10:07am Could You Name A Couple of Those?

I'd love to check them out.

05/22/2018 - 1:03pm Jesus

This schedule.

05/22/2018 - 12:57pm Not buying this

Mason Cole is a loss, obviously.  But I can't see replacing Kugler with Ruiz and Drevno with Warriner and think that's other than a net gain.

05/22/2018 - 12:46pm Sarah

05/18/2018 - 2:24pm Deja Vu

My prediction is Michigan goes for it on 4th down late from around ND's 25, and Shea lofts it to DPJ, who lays out in the back right corner of the endzone for catch/score.  It will be glorious.

05/18/2018 - 2:01pm Swept Away

+1 for Swept Away.  Had a great time there.

05/17/2018 - 2:46pm Watched That

one in a dark hospital room where my wife was fighting off pre-term labor with our twins.  Loved the A-Train, but he hurt me that night, my friends.

05/14/2018 - 10:00pm Thanks a lot!

Really appreciate that.

05/14/2018 - 1:36pm My Daughter

35 ACT and 3.2 GPA.  Netflix addiction.

05/14/2018 - 1:31pm You would think

but actually not so.  Go to and read the thread on UM Early Action decisions last December.  A LOT of kids with very high GPAs and scores were deferred or denied.  My son is a rising senior with really high scores, and he will spend the month of December, until decisions come out, in a cold sweat.  He shouldn't.  He will undoubtedly attend a fine school and get a fine education.  But he has wanted to attend UM since he was old enough to know what a college is, and he'll be crushed if he doesn't get in.

05/14/2018 - 1:12pm Out of State

UM has been admitting more out-of staters, but not appreciably fewer in-staters.  In-staters seem to be getting less of the growth, but not fewer seats.

05/14/2018 - 1:01pm Conversely

What has two thumbs and isn't allowing it's daughters to attend MSU or Baylor?

[Points at self with thumbs]  This guy!

05/10/2018 - 3:34pm Just sad

that Hugh Freeze was around to experience that one.

05/09/2018 - 8:42pm I Get the Money Part

But take the money out of the equation, if I lived in AA, I would be at every game.  Even the Oregon States and Cincinnatis.  Bought my season tickets in Harbaugh Year 1, getting in on the ground floor.  We go to 2 or 3 games per year and sell the rest on Stubhub.  It's 4 hours each way for us.  It would be super easy to just watch on TV, but I am just really addicted to the game experience.  Walking around town before the game.  We are early arrivers in the stadium, usually 45 minutes before kickoff.  Love watching the stadium start to fill up.  Watching the players from both teams getting loose.  And the BAND!!!   Whenever I give my tickets to someone, I make them promise to be in their seats 20 minutes before kickoff, so they can experience the band.

My son plays soccer for his HS, and that and other things get in the way of attending from time to time.  A couple of years ago, the Saturday of the Hawaii game was free, but its Hawaii, so I was going to sell, but my son insisted that we go.  I resisted, but he won.  After the band finished and the players had run out and touched the banner, I told my son that he was right and I was so glad we came.  There is nothing like being in that town and stadium on game day.  It is the greatest.

05/09/2018 - 11:18am Same Here

Overcast, about 45 degrees and 25 mph winds to go along with the performance on the field.  Truly the worst.  I would rather watch M00N 10 times than that Nebraska game again.

04/26/2018 - 11:06am Overrated?

I hate ND football as much as anyone, and I have some special hatred for Brian Kelly.  But overrated school?  C'mon.

04/26/2018 - 11:02am I only clicked to read Dr. Mantis Toboggan's comments

Imagine my disappointment

02/02/2018 - 10:36am Genessee Cream

Tried on a couple of occassions, and just could never gag one of those down.  Not a cream ale or malt liquor guy.

12/29/2017 - 9:53am WSU had no chance

If the roles were reversed, how do we think MSU would do without Lewerke, Davis and White?

12/23/2017 - 6:57pm Love

a classic Manhattan.  Nice call.

12/23/2017 - 6:56pm I tend to switch it up

But I've been on Basil Hayden for a long time.  Check it out.

12/13/2017 - 10:57am In Post-OSU Presser

Jim Harbaugh said, a couple of times I think, "we need to get stronger".  I was wondering whether he was usually a sort of coach-speak generality there, or if he was getting at strength and conditioning.

12/13/2017 - 10:55am Speed is what we need. We need speed.

If you can catch this chicken, you can catch JK Dobbins.

12/06/2017 - 12:48pm Sitting down

as opposed to . . . . ?

12/01/2017 - 12:36pm I see that

But even without that, Cole and Bredeson are double teaming Hubbard, and immediately at the snap Bredeson turns himself 45 degrees.  Is that how that's supposed to be done?  I don't know the first thing about o-line technique, but some rudimentary geometry and physics suggest to me that staying square to the line would work better.

12/01/2017 - 11:47am Said this to my son

while we were sitting in State St. traffic for an hour and a half after the game.  I told my man, "that was it.  We burned off the Brady Hoke QB horsecrap today.  This is the last time Michigan doesn't have a QB."

12/01/2017 - 11:44am Bredeson

Can anyone explain why it looks like Bredeson just opened up like a matador for Bosa?

11/27/2017 - 2:01pm Metellus

Admitting peremptorily that I don't really understand the difference between the two safety roles.  But could Woods not replace Metellus?   Been frustrated with Metellus for weeks.

11/27/2017 - 1:11pm Glass half full take

The 2019 home schedule will be the shit

11/12/2017 - 10:44am Good heavens

I love that man
