UT people are the worst: Gray commit status?

Submitted by MgoFunk on October 26th, 2018 at 9:10 AM

I was listening to 104.5 The Zone out of Nashville on my way into work this morning (I live in Bowling Green, KY) and they had a Tennessee insider on that said in passing that Gray had decommitted.  Did this happen and I just missed it?  I thought he was shaky but still committed currently.

i wasn’t sure how to word the title.

Really? You weren't at all impressed with Chris Perry, a Heisman finalist? Or Mike Hart, the all-time Michigan rushing leader? Fitz Touissant also had himself a year in 2011. By the end of the season, the combo of him and Denard in the backfield was lethal.

We're not Wisconsin, granted. But it's not like we've had 20 years of mediocrity at the position. I wonder how much better some of our RBs would've been over the last 10 years if they had a halfway decent OL to run behind.

Just expect it to happen so it wont be saddening

We have Charbonnet who is nearly a 5 star elite back and we have Giles Jackson who is a studly playmaker.

We will be all good if he does decommit

I can't find anything saying this online, but boy, I would be very surprised. Tennessee looks terrible and Pruitt's rep as a toxic dude is pretty widespread.

Right.  Plus I believe their AD is a piece of work (or have they finally cleaned that up?).

I don't have memberships to recruiting sites or anything so maybe there is more info. out there that I am unaware of.  But to put this in Chris Evans's terms, this wouldn't be dropping Halle Barry for Beyonce, this would be dropping Halle Barry for Rosanne.

I would refer you to the case of Higdon v. Weber.  The kid should go where he wants to be, but if he looks at the others in the class, and he thinks he's getting more playing time somewhere else, there's always going to be a JK Dobbins who will come around the next year.  Also, go where the coaches are developing the best offensive lines, and I think that's Michigan now?  Or, take the short money at UT, and be a Knoxville celebrity *snicker*

Sometimes it is as simple as looking at depth chart and thinking playing time will come quicker somewhere else.  Michigan has some good RB's now and more coming. Charbonnet is going to be a beast in this offense. I think Turner is going to be really good as well.

Gray decommitting is over blown. These rumors are the equivalent of all the board comments here talking about us flipping Dobbs and Brown. It's wishful thinking by the instate fans about local kids at a position of need.

I would really love to get Gray as I think he's an absolute stud. That being said, Charbonnet has looked great so far, and I think Turner is going to be a Higdon level back and maybe even the next great Michigan back.

***Hot take alert*** - I'd rather see Turner in the game than Evans at this point. He has looked so explosive in the moments he's gotten a chance, seems to be on the edge of breaking something every time he carries it. That being said I have no idea how good he is as a blocker. I think we know what we've got with Evans, which is a solid back vs what I believe Turner will be and can be.

Hope he stays with us, but it’s a tough decision for kids. Jeremy Pruitt is picking up some significant recruits. It’s easier to build on playing time and hope to be a part of something special. Honestly, I dont Believe Pruitt will get anywhere near bearing bama in the next 4 years, which is the time limit of UT fans before canning the coach.

Hope Gray ends up wherever he feels most comfortable and confident in.
