At this point, I think it's guilty until proven innocent.

I did; they changed the format, and it was interesting.

I really enjoyed this. Thanks a bunch, gents.

07/18/2018 - 9:42am They're trying to get things…

They're trying to get things done, and there's always going to be a transition cost for change. I don't think it's a huge deal, especially since the problems are being systematically identified and tackled. Staff are listening, prioritizing, and responding, and I'm not sure how much more you can ask. Maybe more football content would be nice, but I respect the staff's discretion for writing when there's something to write.

Anyway, to answer the question, it probably hasn't had a significant impact on the number of times I visit.

This is fantastic. You make a decent case for the big-picture parallels between these situations, and I'm surprised others haven't picked up on this idea.

What does 'facilitate the setup' mean?

Maybe not Wisco. They're doing some great work.

07/12/2018 - 5:38pm If a couple of Hill, Ford,…

If a couple of Hill, Ford, Cine, and Crouch--hell, maybe even Harrison--are joined by a solid actual tackle-prospect, I don't think that folks will even really notice.

07/12/2018 - 2:51pm Have you read anything about…

Have you read anything about his blocking? That's usually what holds back freshman RBs.

Your lead list would be incredible, but I've only heard about Crouch. Any info for Hill and Ford?

I saw this on reddit, and ND fans are saying that the WR coach pulled the trigger too quickly. In any case, the kid handled the situation with class.

There was a whole dust up on twitter over this very issue.

Hole used to work with Sam and allegedly developed his own contacts within the program. I'm not sure why he left, however.

So you're saying this doesn't reflect a decision based on the merits of Harrision going to Michigan but more on marketing/promotional considerations?

07/11/2018 - 2:36am Thibodeaux went from 1 to 3…

Thibodeaux went from 1 to 3 WDE. Herron went from 4 to 10. Herron also received faint praise at the Opening. Thibodeaux is almost certainly still regarded as the better prospect.

07/06/2018 - 2:56pm Honestly, I do think that…

Honestly, I do think that Michigan is above processing. Now they may do that 'slow playing' bit before a kid commits, but the only other time I recall a kid getting even possibly 'processed' was a Hoke-era commit who, it turned out, refused to camp at Michigan again so the coaches could get a look at him.

07/06/2018 - 12:29pm Great breakdown, thank you!…

Great breakdown, thank you! I don't think Michigan will 'process' any kids, but I'm pretty sure Herron already has one foot out the door, pending him getting accepted academically.

07/06/2018 - 9:50am Oh, I'm totally with you. As…

Oh, I'm totally with you. As a fan, I think it's pretty clear-cut that 'Bama would need an injury situation similar to what they had at linebacker for him to play. I'm just saying from his perspective, he thought he outperformed the other guys, and while that's debatable, especially given the sample size, this would give him a good reason to bail.

07/06/2018 - 4:19am Assuming his views during…

Assuming his views during recruitment didn't change (he wanted to prove himself against the best), he thinks he was better than the guys he played behind. If 'Bama isn't running a true meritocracy, I think that's fair grounds to transfer.

Typo. 15% should be 13% to OSU (NTOSU).

07/04/2018 - 2:58am I think both you and OP are…

I think both you and OP are right. Sam mentioned that they're pitching Crouch as a two-way player in the potential mold of Peppers.

07/02/2018 - 10:12am I wasn't trying to be a…

I wasn't trying to be a concern troll, but I was definitely concerned, and I think it was justified.

Here's what I remember was going on: Michigan was racking up the 3-stars (and below) fairly early in the 2019/2020 cycle. Dixon, a guy who fit the much-hyped Viper role, was trending hard to Penn State, and it looked like (and still looks like) Michigan would miss on both in-state 5 star OTs. That's pretty dire stuff.

...and then Zach Charbonnet commits from out of the blue (not even Sam saw it coming), with most CBs projecting him to USC, leading to a cascade of pretty good news culminating in this announcement.

07/02/2018 - 3:08am This is a great find,…

This is a great find, especially because Harrison has been very quiet in general.

Assuming the quotations from the article are representative, it seems like relationships and distance are the most important issues to Harrison. Al Washington and Harrison's hosts on the team seemed to have really connected with him. Also, it sounds like Ohio State could be too close to home, which would kinda be the Lance Dixon Effect finally working in our favor.

I'm most encouraged by this kid's process. He says he's shutting down his visits because he has all the info he needs to make a decision and wants to think on it. How often do you see a kid say something like that? If this is a troll-job, it's definitely one of the best ever. He doesn't come off as attention-seeking or vainglorious--just a young guy who is working through a decision.

In any case, I think Michigan is in the catbird seat on this one. If he ends up a Buckeye, not many recruits will view this as a loss--everyone will say it was expected, Michigan never really had a chance, etc.

07/02/2018 - 2:51am I have no great sources…

I have no great sources either way, but this comment from WeimyWoodson on the MGoBoards comes from a guy who claimed to have coached him as a kid since 8th grade. He said Harrison was a big Ohio State fan and dished some good-natured ribbing over folks wearing Michigan gear.

07/02/2018 - 2:43am Article says, "There will be…

Article says, "There will be no more visits and limited conversation with coaches at the schools he’s considering. He’s just going to have to try and put all the pieces together."

I think the BBQ counts as a visit, and this kid is going to suss out where he's headed.

06/30/2018 - 1:38pm Kyle Ford, right? I think…

Kyle Ford, right? I think Luke was a TE recruit who went to Georgia. In any case, a Kyle Ford visit would be spectacular.

06/30/2018 - 11:49am Mike Weber's situation is…

Mike Weber's situation is actually a "basis in fact" for saying that Ohio State lies to recruits while recruiting them. It was confirmed by the timing of his recruiter leaving, which is entirely and independently verifiable.

06/30/2018 - 11:38am Sounds plausible, but is…

Sounds plausible, but is another explanation that Michigan's interest wanes if the kid doesn't continue to develop or show effort?

06/30/2018 - 11:32am Sorry about the late reply…

Sorry about the late reply. Some guy on twitter claimed that the high school would get boycotted by Michigan in the future because of some shady demands related to the Dobbs recruitment. That tweet got deleted, however. Also, I haven't seen the claim repeated, and it seems like the recent Michigan recruit from there flies refutes that claim.

Well, I feel dumb about that. My beating will probably come by way of this comment.

Who are they guys you think were 'desperation' takes? I've seen this mentioned in Brian's latest recruit overview of that DE from Florida.

I know nothing about how web development stuff works, but I hope the guys can get this place functional by the time the season rolls around.

I'm having this problem now, and I'm pretty near certain I did not earn a ban hammer.

I heard some parts of Sam's interview with his dad. Very impressive, especially in keeping a wider view of getting a great education to leverage potential NFL riches in the future.

Great point. I'd especially expect that towards the bottom of the class, as with that unranked fellow who is expected to commit today.

06/25/2018 - 9:59am Though, to be fair, with 4…

Though, to be fair, with 4 more recruits than OSU, and two more than ND, assuming neither school picks up a recruit in the interim.

06/25/2018 - 6:37am By this, do you mean that…

By this, do you mean that you suspect some funny business? Or are you more commenting on the unpredictability of the whole process?

06/24/2018 - 7:18pm Great point; I remember this…

Great point; I remember this being mentioned, but I always think the pressure comes from the kid more than the school. Basically: are you in or out, Michigan? Because if you're not, I'm going with this other school, type-of-situation.

06/24/2018 - 5:22pm I'm not really sure what to…

I'm not really sure what to think. I usually don't buy the 'trust the coaches' talk, except Brian's articles have cast some doubt on the reliability of recruiting rankings given the industry's collapse/reorganization. Maybe Michigan really is snagging 2015's 4 stars in 2018 3 star (and below) clothing. Another thing not usually mentioned is Don Brown's fairly savant-like ability to nail down the right guys who fit his system; this is usually reflected in sharply upwards recruiting rankings after Michigan makes an offer. On the other hand, 3 3-stars at about the same time as a big recruiting weekend doesn't look too great.

06/24/2018 - 3:23pm I'm no pessimist, but…

I'm no pessimist, but honestly, I'm getting concerned with this class.

06/23/2018 - 2:37pm I agree, but I'm also a…

I agree, but I'm also a little torn. I don't think it's right to take a dump on kids who have committed, especially in their commitment threads. On the other hand, I also think it's fair to review the class and discuss how it's looking. Especially with how 'big picture' posts are negatively treated on here, I'm not sure there are many places to do so outside of a kid's commitment post.

Edit: I meant '...so nearby to where he lives."

06/21/2018 - 11:17am I think your perspective is…

I think your perspective is needed on this board, and I don't like seeing folks telling you to eff off and things like that. I also think it's a good idea to celebrate the wins while being honest about the losses and where improvements can be made.

And you're right that he's a long-shot. But getting a kid like this on campus is huge; I'm pumped he's actually going to show up. Whenever they come on campus, especially with Michigan so nearby, great things can happen. I think this is especially the case if Michigan puts together a nice season and can show the kid that this is the team of the future--that trends are looking good.
