There is a fair number of them on this blog, but they've faded back into the woodwork recently.  Forget the snowflake and game threads - those are filled with heat of the moment reactions and don't reflect the more 'normal' opinions of people.  But look at the reactionary threads on Mondays and Tuesdays after a loss (after some time to settle down).  They're filled with people looking for a change, or placing an ultimatum that 'must be met'...

Certainly, not all of the 'UNACCEPTABLE' crowd doesn't really want him gone, but they wouldn't complain about it if he were.  But right now - today - I don't think you'll find one, single UM fan that would say JH should be gone.

What I saw happening a lot is that certain people would misconstrue commentary and force an "all or nothing" conversation about Harbaugh.

Like,

Person 1 - "Wow, the team looked unprepared for Notre Dame.  A lot of mental breakdowns and unforced errors.  Had a lot of time to prepare for that opponent, coaches needed to have that team more prepared."

Person 2 - "Oh, so you know better than the coaches now?  So, I supposed you want Brady Hoke or Rich Rod back?!?  Where you happy then?!"

Person 3 - "Settle down man."

In this exchange, it is person 2 actually freaking out, but people would interpret person 1 as the one "hating" on Harbaugh when it typically just standard fan-coach commentary.

Come on man, it went beyond that.  This board got pretty ugly on Harbaugh.  Even umbig11 flipped out for a little while there.

I have to chuckle at our revisionism.  Half the board (and Brian!) thought Nebraska was a dangerous opponent.  Then we destroyed them and suddenly everyone denied what they'd posted 24 hours previously.

Wisconsin was "the biggest game in Harbaugh's tenure" because it was a Big Game (TM), and of course Jim can never win big games.  Then we won and suddenly it meant nothing because Wisconsin sucked.

Then MSU was ""the biggest game in Harbaugh's tenure" because it was a Big Road Game (TM), and of course Jim can never win big road games.  Then we won and suddenly it meant nothing because MSU sucked.

I don't know why it's so hard for people to just fess up and admit they were too down on the team.  Your internet reputation will survive.

No because my questions aren't:

"so, um recently there was a post by Gary's mom and um..so there seems to be some things she's trying to um...like have you noticed anything with Gary's play that would indicate that he's not ready...because, like, in your last press conference you didn't really clarify what you meant by Gary didn't want to play, so like, what are your thoughts on Gary not playing last week?"

C’mon man!

You wear your football knowledge on your sleeve and yet in re: the Northwestern game, your reactionary comments totally discount the opposition, their skill and their preparation.

We all know Fitz is a quality coach, and he had bye week to prepare and motivate his squad.  Add to that their QB hitting pass after pass to near perfectly covered WR’s and we saw 2-3 series early where Michigan was simply out executed.

If it were a boxing match, NW caught us with a few quick punches.  Could they have more prepared for those punches?  I suppose so.  But as Coach Brown has said, you don’t want your guys chasing ghosts and sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the opposition.

I find this constant need to find fault very frustrating.  Before you say it, I’m NOT claiming Harbaugh is perfect — no coach is.  But, to say they weren’t ready for NW totally discount NW, and most importantly, the adjustment made that facilitated a 20-0 run and victory.  If they truly weren’t prepared their adjustments wouldn’t have worked and they might well have lost.

Again, someone like you should know that and be a voice of reason rather than carrying the proverbial gas can.  “Well played, Fitz ... (for 10-15 minutes) but better played by Harbaugh & Co.” Football isn’t math and defense is harder than offense.

Yeah that frustrates me. These teams are not perfect, and it's ultimately a game. Sometimes good teams come out flat and bad teams can do no wrong and punch them in the face very quickly. Sometimes a team that loses to Eastern Michigan can come out and absolutely destroy a top 4 opponent. Sometimes a team loses to NW at home and then beats PSU on the road the next week (and then can't muster 100 yards of offense the week after that :P ).

Northwestern is a very strange team anyway...they have a maybe(?)-NFL-caliber QB with a well-established coach who has won 10 games in multiple seasons there. On the other hand they also only beat Rutgers by 3 points and lost to Akron, so who the heck knows with them. Clearly Michigan got the good version of Northwestern, at least for a quarter or so. It happens. It doesn't mean Harbaugh is a bad coach.

" Again, someone like you should know that and be a voice of reason rather than carrying the proverbial gas can."

I think he is Adam Biggers. He has the same temperament as Adam Biggers. Have you ever seen how Adam Biggers acts in some of his videos? So uncanny how he is like Umbig11 the past few weeks.

He also has the same sports knowledge level as Adam Biggers.

He also started commenting on this blog at about the same time as Adam Biggers started covering Michigan football.

His name is Umbig11, Umbiggers11.

He said he is going to stop covering Michigan on this board because of the negativity. But on Adam Biggers twitter, Adam Biggers just said a few hours ago, he is leaving covering Michigan, and getting a job. His sports coverage has not been earning him enough money:

I have to head back to the world of regular jobs. Been a weird year, but I had to try more more time/give one more honest go. I did, but things didn't work out as planned. Thanks for reading my stuff and watching the YouTube junk. It's been fun.

He is stopping his commenting here because he is getting a job.

So I think he is Adam Biggers. With his inaccurate reports on Michigan football to this board, that everyone here has seen, it would follow he would not be able to stay in sports coverage. He is not stopping his Michigan reporting here because of people being negative to him.

Or am I wrong? And he is not Adam Biggers?

I don't think those two wins mean "nothing" at all.  The "Wisconsin and Michigan State" suck angles sound very much like Mike Valenti voodoo logic.  If there are people with those takes my guess is that they need to change the radio station.  Both were very big wins.

I do think there is still some BPONE expectations with the fan base still.  2016 is very fresh in our minds and we went from on top of the world to unraveling pretty damn fast.  At this point, I would say I am cautiously ecstatic, if that is a thing.  As for Harbaugh, he has silenced some critics already, if he can beat PSU and OSU this year, there will be none left.  I just hope that we can finish the job this time.

This does not seem like an accurate representation.  Perhaps there was some of this, but person 1 seems like a highly reasonable critic.  When challenged on this blog, I don't think many just respond with "settle down man."

There has been an awful lot of, "..better beat state and OSU...or....else" from many posters on this board.  Particularly at the end of last season and following the ND game this year.

There was a significant amount of negativity on this board about Harbaugh after last season and continuing after ND.  Not too many people called for him to be fired (that position has never been socially acceptable) but many made the "he's trending downward" and "his trajectory looks like Hoke's" arguments, as well as the "his record in the last [cherry-picked number]  games is .500."  Those guys quieted down after about Nebraska and haven't been heard from too much since.

Not a ton there.

Michigan is good and controls their own destiny.  Harbaugh sucks mantra was ridiculous and is being blown up this year.  OSU's defense is worse than UConn's right now.   We have seen this script with Meyer's programs before and will be interesting what transpires.  Get your popcorn ready.

1997-8 was awesome, but I didn't enjoy a lot of it because I kept anticipating the unexpected dumb loss that Michigan always seemed to have in years previous.  I'm enjoying our success so far this year, but I'm not going to talk or think about OSU until we beat PSU, Rutgers and Indiana.  All of this Alabama/OSU talk is fun, but way ahead of itself.

I'm going to relish Don Brown's revenge on PSU.  If he holds them to under 100 yards I may have to get a Don Brown tattoo, and I don't like tattoos.

I couldn't agree with your take more. Recruits are mostly just hearing the national media coverage on all teams right now.  Most of the coverage is praising Michigan right now which is always a good thing.  It could turn in a flash though.....see coverage on OSU the past 4 days.

What I've noticed is that the guys who followed Harbaugh's NFL coaching career, like Klatt and Cowherd, respect him a lot more than the people who solely follow college football and were screaming "1-6 rivals blah blah blah." They look at how he took a basketcase 49ers team to the NFC championship 3 years in a row and marvel. And Harbaugh had little to do with the roster there -- it was all Xs and Os and motivation.

"Listen, Michigan is really good, and you're going to have to deal with them this year. Good luck." - Joel Klatt on the cooler pooper fans up in arms over the praise for Michigan.
