I was never anti Harbaugh, I just wanted him to win, you know what he gets paid to do.

What they have done to this point does not matter, until they beat the buckeyes.

There's an entire southern college football media ecosystem that devotes themselves to crapping on anyone who chooses to coach outside the south and is capable of building a threat to programs in their zone. That's how you get the constant stream of attempts to put Jim Harbaugh on the hotseat at Michigan with no basis in fact or that absolutely insane USA Today article about Scott Frost.

They're not insane, they're just calculated shitheads.

Harbaugh has done a good job. Looking at 3 - 10’win seasons in 4 years, is great. Penn state is another good test. I personally hope that penn state beats Iowa for the simple fact that they would be ranked 15th or so when Michigan plays them...which would give Michigan another ranked win (if they win). Boosting the resume with 3 top 25 wins this year so far is good. If Iowa beats penn state then they will not be ranked vs michigan.

beat penn state.

beat Rutgers.

beat Indiana.

destroy OSU.

So three of the last five posts on the board are Joel Klatt rambling alongside other talking heads?

It is nice to be on the national spotlight and hope we can live up to it but these guys have next to no ability to provide meaningful insight or analysis on anything. Not sure it’s noteworthy.

Look, Harbaugh is not perfect, or a miracle worker.  But look at some of the personnel decisions he has made.

Defense needed a new guy, so he goes out and gets Brown, who is probably the best D-Coordinator in the country and one of the best we've ever had.  Michigan has had dominant defense before, but I don't remember them being dominant in back-to-back-to-back years like this since the early days of Bo.  And let's get real--defense is a LOT harder to play now than it was 50 years ago.

Offensive line was struggling, so he jettisons his close personal friend who has coached with him forever and goes out and gets Warriner, who has a long history of offensive line success at Ohio State and then last year at Minnesota.   Yeah, the guy was a Buckeye for a long time, but Harbaugh didn't care--he knows how to evaluate talent, and he knew this guy could help him.  And he clearly has.  Our running game this year has clearly taken a step forward.

Sure Harbaugh has struggled to get in a good QB.  His work with Rudock was amazing, but until McCaffery, his recruits have failed to show much promise.  But ALL recruiting is hit and miss to a certain extent.

I just keep coming back to one point.  Who the f*** would we hire to replace him that would be better?  I mean, I'm not willing to sit and watch us lose to Ohio State every year either, but at some point we have to realize that this guy is a really good coach who has had some unfortunate setbacks over his first few seasons here.  But compared to Hoke & Rodriguez, and even Carr in some ways, there have been a lot of things he does really well.  As Coward said, it would be crazy to give up on him, even if we lose to Ohio State again this year.

If we're sitting in 2022 and he's still winless against OSU, well then maybe I'll be singing a different tune.

I'm sorry, but I am not going to click on a Colin Cowherd link, and I didn't read any of the posts in this thread.  It wouldn't surprise me if some of the MGoBoard posters had something interesting to say, but I am not going to go through it for the sake of a Colin Cowherd link.

There was the MGoBoard "No Drew Sharp" rule.  And the current and well-advised "No Valenti" rule.  If it were up to me -- and it reeeaalllly isn't -- I'd have a "No Cowherd Rule," and a severe prejudice against anybody like Cowherd.

Like video games, I have a hard time imagining that any busy, professional Michigan grad has the time for sportstalk radio.

Praise from Colin Cowherd is pretty worthless, but the fact those kind of national hot take guys are talking positively about us is a good sign in that it's an indicator of success.

Of course, if we lose another game, they'll talk trash again about Michigan..even if it's OSU in Columbus. Same with all the fools on here. They're just biding their time. I'll tell you something, I'll consider a 10-2 or 9-3 regular season a solid season as well, especially as we won in East Lansing. That kind of stuff can't be taken for granted.

He's right...The anti-Harbaugh narrative is and always was a joke.  It's for people who want hawt takes and don't understand the nuance of football or didn't watch the games.

MSU 2015 was a 1 in a million win on one of the flukiest plays in college football history.

OSU 2016 - the better team lost due to an entire game of bs officiating...it was a robbery.

I won't even include last year's 5 turnover game against Sparty - with our 3rd string qb, and playing OSU with injured QBs the past 2 years.

In the end, all that matters is wins and losses - but the narrative was always flawed as it lacked any analysis.

It is now being rewritten..and I agree with Cowherd...Harbaugh teams rarely get their doors blown off...and usually only against superior teams - 2015 OSU and 2017 PSU.

Let the Harbaugh offense start struggling again and watch how the tone changes. I mean, winning cures everything. It can make people push aside or forget what they were once angry and complaining about.

We should just enjoy the ride.
